Opis:: Purpose: The aim of the article is to characterise and identify the role of dynamic innovative capabilities in enterprise development. Design/methodology/approach: The research was conducted using a standardised structured interview questionnaire with managers of aviation companies in Poland. Findings: The results of the study indicate the importance of dynamic innovation capabilities in improving competitiveness as well as coping with a dynamic environment. Research limitations/implications: A limitation of the research conducted is the size of the research sample. This may provide an indication of the direction of future research concentrating on cross-sectional studies in companies from other sectors. This would provide a basis for formulating conclusions with a higher degree of generalisability. Practical implications: The theoretical considerations presented and the conclusions drawn from the research can provide enterprise managers with valuable information on the use of dynamic capabilities to integrate, reconfigure and renew their resources for innovation. Social implications: Enterprise managers should be aware of the importance and relevance of dynamic innovation capabilities in the context of contemporary challenges and enhancing innovation and competitiveness. Originality/value: Due to its cognitive value and high practical relevance for business managers, the paper contributes on the role of dynamic innovative capacity by providing a voice in the ongoing discussion.

Opis:: In this explorative study, we investigate the relationship between dynamic capabilities and innovation capabilities. Dynamic capabilities are at the core of strategic management in terms of how firms can ensure adaptation to changing environments over time. Our paper follows two paths of argumentation. First, we review and discuss some major contributions to the theories on ordinary capabilities, dynamic capabilities, and innovation capabilities. We seek to identify different understandings of the concepts in question, in order to clarify the distinctions and relationships between dynamic capabilities and innovation capabilities. Second, we present a case study of the ’Innovation Clinic’ at a major university hospital, including four innovation projects. We use this case study to explore and discuss how dynamic capabilities can be extended, as well as to what extent innovation capabilities can be said to be dynamic. In our conclusion, we discuss the conditions for nurturing ‘dynamic innovation capabilities’ in organizations.

Opis:: The aim of this study is to empirically examine the impact of supply chain dynamic capabilities on operational performance, and the mediating effect of technological innovation between dynamic capabilities and operational performance. This study is based on empirical data collected from a survey of 206 small- and medium-size firms in Korea. Structural equation modeling is used to test the research questions. The results show that supply chain dynamic capabilities positively influence technological innovation and operational performance of an enterprise. Additionally, structural equation analyses reveal that technological innovation plays a role as a partial mediator of the relationship between supply chain dynamic capabilities and operational performance. In a dynamic and ever-changing environment, the enforcement of dynamic capabilities in a sustainable supply chain is important for the innovation of technology and the improvement of operational performance. Further investigation is required to understand the differences by industries, characteristics of enterprises, and positions in a supply chain.

Opis:: The number of publicly funded initiatives to establish or strengthen networks and clusters, in order to enhance innovation, has been increasing. Returns on such investments vary, and the aim of this study is to explore to what extent the variation in benefits for firms participating in networks or clusters can be explained by their dynamic capabilities (DC). Based on survey data from five Norwegian networks, the results suggest that firms with higher DC are more successful in harvesting the potential benefits of being member of a network.

Opis:: The recent global economic crisis has caused an uncertain and challenging business environment and has battered managements that are running businesses all over the world. This paper focuses on new capabilities that can be used successfully in a fast changing business environment for improving firms’ efficiency. This research utilizes constructive approach including interviews and case studies. The relevant findings of the study are the elements of the key success factors: entrepreneurial strategy, R&D to market performance, dynamic operational excellence and innovativeness with links to the key actions which have led to new business model called dynamic business model (DBC). This research focuses on power electronics business industry which at the same time is a limitation. This research helps directors and managers to think more widely and make better decisions for the success of the company. This research results bring additional value of the previous studies regarding a firm’s key success factors and dynamic capabilities.

Результати свідчать про взаємозв'язок динамічних здібностей з динамікою зовнішнього середовища компанії. На даний момент динамічні здібності виявляються в операціях, пов'язаних з основною бізнес моделлю. Наприклад, вони присутні в розвитку каналів поставки послуг, але не виявлені в розвитку продуктів. Теоретичне значення дослідження. Запропоновано рекомендації з розвитку концепції порівняльного вимірювання динамічних здібностей. Підтверджено взаємозв'язок з динамікою зовнішнього середовища компанії. Практичне значення дослідження. Компанії можуть використовувати структуру sensing -> seizing -> reconfiguration і використовувати дані виміри (dimensions) для порівняльної оцінки своїх інноваційних операцій. Оригінальність/Цінність/наукова новізна дослідження. Підтверджено взаємозв'язок динамічних здібностей з динамікою зовнішнього середовища компанії. Цель работы – исследовать процессы, образующие динамические способности в немецких финансовых компаниях. Дизайн/Метод/Подход исследования. Эксплоративный качественный анализ эмпирических данных методом множественного ситуационного анализа (multiple case study). Результаты исследования. Результаты свидетельствуют о взаимосвязи динамических способностей с динамикой внешней среды компании. На данный момент динамические способности проявляются в операциях, связанных с основной бизнес моделью. Например, они присутствуют в развитии каналов поставки услуг, но не обнаружены в развитии продуктов. Теоретическое значение исследования. Предложены рекомендации по развитию концепции сравнительного измерения динамических способностей. Подтверждена взаимосвязь с динамикой внешней среды компании. Практическое значение исследования. Компании могут использовать структуру sensing -> seizing -> reconfiguration и использовать данные измерения (dimensions) для сравнительной оценки своих инновационных операций. Оригинальность/Ценность/Научная новизна исследования. Подтверждена взаимосвязь динамических способностей с динамикой внешней среды компании. Процессуальный подход сделал теоретический конструкт динамических способностей более понятным для измерения. Предложены пути операционализации конструкта динамических способностей. Тип статьи – эмпирическая.
Purpose. The purpose of this work is to investigate processes constituting to Dynamic Capabilities in companies of the German financial services industry. Design/Method/Approach. Exploratory with a qualitative approach and a multiple case study method. Findings. The results indicate a connection of Dynamic Capabilities and the dynamism of the environment. The actual Dynamic Capabilities seem to operate in business model related activities, such as distribution channels, but not in product development. Theoretical implications. Suggestions are given for the development of a comparative measurement concept for Dynamic Capabilities. furthermore, the inclusion of environmental dynamism in the research is emphasized. Practical implications. Firms can use the structure of sensing, seizing and reconfiguration and apply the dimensions for the relational measurement to evaluate their innovation activities. Originality/Value. Connections of Dynamic Capabilities to the environmental dynamism were found. Furthermore, the process lens of this research makes the theoretical concept of dynamic capabilities more graspable and gives suggestions for an operationalization. Paper type – empirical.

Opis:: Purpose: The paper examines the mediating effect of dynamic capabilities (sensing, seizing, and reconfiguring) on the relationship between critical resources (financial, human, and physical) and Polish green innovative companies’ performance. Design/methodology/approach: The paper combines the Resource-Based View of the Firm with Dynamic Capabilities View and applies them to eco-innovation performance. The study is quantitative and was conducted among 54 Polish green innovative companies. Hierarchical regression analysis was used to test the research hypotheses. Findings: The results indicate that sensing and seizing opportunities mediate the relationship between all types of resources and eco-innovators’ performance. Moreover, reconfiguring the resource base mediates the relationship between human resources and Polish green innovative companies’ economic output. Research limitations/implications: The results of the study indicate that a specific set of resources is not always enough to enhance green innovative companies’ performance. Therefore, there is a need for dynamic capabilities. Such capabilities lead to the development of resources and their dynamic adaptation to technological and market changes. The findings may contribute to a broader scientific discussion on the specificity of eco-innovative activity and its conditions in the Polish economy. Originality/value: The paper is the first to examine – to the author’s best knowledge – the mediating effect of multidimensional dynamic capabilities on the relationship between critical resources and Polish green innovative companies’ performance.

Opis:: Celem niniejszego artykułu jest próba wyjaśnienia relacji pomiędzy zdolnościami dynamicznymi organizacji, poziomem luzów organizacyjnych oraz innowacyjności przedsiębiorstwa. Wykorzystując dane empiryczne z 422 polskich organizacji, zgromadzonych w 2021 roku, przeprowadzono analizy ilościowe dotyczące związków pomiędzy wskazanymi zależnościami. Przeprowadzone analizy statystyczne wykazały, że zdolności do dostrzegania, wykorzystywania i rekonfiguracji zasobów stanowią istotny czynnik determinujący poziom innowacyjności przedsiębiorstwa. Artykuł podejmuje tematykę związków pomiędzy zdolnościami dynamicznymi i innowacyjnością w kontekście luzów organizacyjnych. Zgodnie z wiedzą autorów jest to pierwsze tego typu ujęcie w literaturze krajowej i jedno z pierwszych w międzynarodowym stanie wiedzy. Wzbogaca tym samym stan wiedzy dotyczący problematyki innowacyjności w organizacji, wskazując jednoznacznie na jej uwarunkowania.
This article explains the relationship between the organization's dynamic capabilities, the level of organizational slack, and the innovativeness of the enterprise. Using empirical data from 422 Polish organizations collected in 2021; quantitative analyses were carried out on the relationships between dynamic capabilities, the level of organizational slack, and the company's innovativeness. Among others, correlation analyses, factor analyses, regression analyses, variance inflation factors, structural equation modeling, and moderation analyses were used. It was found that the ability to perceive, use and reconfigure resources is an essential factor determining the enterprise's innovativeness level. On the other hand, organizational slack is vital in moderating the relationship between resource reconfiguration and innovation. With a low level of organizational slack, the ability to reconfigure resources translates into an increase in the company's innovativeness. The article discusses the relationship between dynamic abilities and innovation in the context of organizational slack. According to the authors' knowledge, this is the first approach of this type in the national literature and one of the first in the international state of knowledge. Thus, it enriches the organization's knowledge of innovation issues, clearly pointing to its determinants.
