The article deals especially with the common belief that representatives of the young generation are proficient in the use of ICT. This is an exploration of this issue, done by seeking answer to the question whether that kind of common belief is correct? In the first part of this paper, there is an overview of selected studies and reflections related to the problem, both enthusiastic and critical. The second part is a description of research, which was conducted by the author of the paper.

Opis:: In the world of online reality, private information management is becoming an indispensable skill for every Internet user. However, there are social groups for whom this is a challenge. The aim of this study is to analyse the digital competences level in this area in relation to seniors. The revive of theoretical literature, research conducted so far, and the results of the survey designed for the needs of the work will allows to identify e-skills that have been mastered and are widely used by the mentioned age group, as well as to highlight the existing competence gaps.
W świecie rzeczywistości online zarządzanie informacją prywatną online staje się niezbędną umiejętnością każdego użytkownika Internetu. Są jednak grupy społeczne, dla których stanowi to wyzwanie. Celem tej pracy jest dokonanie analizy poziomu kompetencji cyfrowych ze wspomnianego obszaru w przypadku seniorów. Przegląd literatury teoretycznej, prowadzonych dotychczas badań oraz wyników zaprojektowanej na potrzeby pracy ankiety pozwoli wskazać e-umiejętności, które zostały opanowane i są szeroko stosowane przez wspominaną grupę wiekową, a także wyeksponować istniejące luki kompetencyjne.

Opis:: E-learning jest szeroko rozpowszechniony wśród farmaceutów, którzy biorą udział w szkoleniach ciągłych. Zauważalny jest szybki rozwój platform e-learningowych, które oferują kursy edukacyjne. Zachodzi potrzeba standaryzacji i walidacji kursów nauczania zdalnego, szczególnie od kiedy zaczęły być uznawane i akredytowane przed centra edukacji farmaceutycznej, towarzystwa farmaceutyczne, izby i inne instytucje, które nadzorują proces szkoleń ciągłych. Badanie jest skoncentrowane na ocenie przekazywania umiejętności związanych z właściwym pomiarem ciśnienia krwi przez ciśnieniomierz mechaniczny z powietrznym mankietem i stetoskopem. Przekazywanie wiedzy zachodzi w badaniu dwoma metodami nauczania: w ramach e-learningu i kursu stacjonarnego. Efektywność tych metod jest porównywana ze sobą. Otrzymana wartość p z analizy precyzji pomiaru w obu grupach wynosi 0,9376. Jest to wyższa wartość od przyjętego poziomu istotności statystycznej równego 0,05. Nie obserwuje się różnicy w precyzji pomiaru ciśnienia krwi między obiema grupami przy przyjętej wartości poziomu istotności statystycznej 0,05. Nie ma powodu do odrzucenia hipotezy H0. Weryfikowana hipoteza H0 zakłada, że różnica między analizowanymi parametrami z obu prób wynosi zero:26 H0 : Ɵ 1 = Ɵ 2 E-learning okazuje się skutecznym narzędziem nie tylko do przekazywania wiedzy, ale również do uzyskiwania specjalnych umiejętności przez farmaceutów w ich codziennej pracy.

Opis:: E-learning is widespread among pharmacists who take part in the continuing education courses. The fast development of e-learning platforms which provide educational courses has been noted. There is a need of standardization and validation of distance learning courses, especially as they have started to be recognized and accredited by continuing pharmacy education centres, pharmaceutical societies, chambers or other institutions which supervise the continuing education process. The study is focused on exploring the transfer of skills related to the proper measurement of blood pressure by mechanical sphygmomanometer with aneroid manometer and stethoscope. The transfer of skills takes place in the research by two learning methods: e-learning and stationary course. Their effectiveness is compared to each other. The received p-value from the analysis of the precision of measurement in both groups is 0.9376. It is higher from the established statistical significance level 0.05. Therefore the hypothesis H0 is not excluded. The verified hypothesis H0 assumes that the difference between analyzed parameters from both samples is null:25 H0 : Ɵ 1 = Ɵ 2 There is not observed any difference in precision of measuring blood pressure between both groups with established statistical significance level 0.05. E-learning shows to be an effective tool not only in transferring knowledge but also in obtaining special skills needed for pharmacists in their daily work.

Tytuł:: How does students motivation to acquire new geospatial skills influence their choices of e-learning content?

Opis:: Higher education in many disciplines is affected nowadays by an evident orientation to assist students in developing a certain set of skills required by the labour market. This trend is visible also in the field of Geographic Information Science and Technology (GIS&T). The composition of competencies encompasses, apart from industry-specific technical competencies, also soft skills related to personal effectiveness, academic and workplace competencies. Moreover, soft skills are gaining in importance, being identified as future work skills. As a result, students may search for certain skills when they come into contact with a particular learning content. In this study, we investigated how the motivation to acquire specific skills influences students’ behaviour on the e-learning platform. As a case study, we selected a study programme in land management carried out at the Institute of Geography and Spatial Management (Jagiellonian University in Cracow, Poland). Several different motivating factors, like GIS&T skills and the ability to co-operate, were identified and compared with students’ behaviour on the e-learning platform in certain modules of the study programme. The results indicated that students only partially prospected for certain competencies during their work with the content of the e-learning platform. Students’ motivation was more evident in their on-line behaviour when they wanted to acquire technical skills than when they planned to develop soft skills.

Opis:: Our university’s Learning Management System had been ready for use for two years or so, but largely ignored by most of the teachers at our language centre. The situation changed when the real need to try it appeared. We were asked to meet a new requirement – namely, to cover for our temporarily absent colleagues, sometimes at a moment’s notice. It seemed a good solution to harness our Learning Management System, or Pegasus, to help us do that. A year has passed since then, and the scheme is working – helping us very well. Hopefully, it all happens without “shortchanging” the students. In this paper, as one of the participants in the scheme, I will present the story of how we managed – not without a few hurdles – to turn our LMS into a useful, everyday tool in our language centre.
Platforma edukacyjna na naszym uniwersytecie była dostępna od co najmniej dwóch lat, ale przeważnie ignorowana przez większość lektorów, prowadzących zajęcia w Jagiellońskim Centrum Językowym. Sytuacja zmieniła się z chwilą, kiedy pojawiła się rzeczywista potrzeba jej wykorzystania, a mianowicie konieczność zapewnienia krótkoterminowych zastępstw, czasem dosłownie z dnia na dzień. Okazało się, że można w tym celu ‘zaprząc’ Pegaza, czyli naszą uniwersytecką platformę edukacyjną. Od tego czasu minął rok i Pegaz znakomicie się sprawdza. Wydaje się, że nie tracą na tym również nasi studenci. Artykuł ma na celu opisanie jak udało się nam zamienić mało wykorzystywaną platformę w bardzo przydatne narzędzie, z którego korzystamy na co dzień w naszym centrum językowym.

Opis:: Reading and technology are believed to have a strong link with learner autonomy. This research aims at investigating how digital reader response tasks in a reading class promote learner autonomy. The students were given reader response tasks which challenged them to respond to texts using digital infographic and presentation tools in Moodle forum. The data of this case study, collected from questionnaires, online records, and reflections involving 25 participants, were analyzed based on the domains of autonomy. The findings indicated that digital reader response tasks in a Moodle-based reading class enabled learners to plan, execute, and evaluate their own learning. The findings also showed that these online tasks did not only motivate learners to engage in meaningful language learning experience, but also encouraged them to nurture social dimensions of autonomy.

Opis:: This article gives some examples of students’ systematic semi-autonomous work in the multimedia master’s seminar, which enhances their language competencies as well as strictly technical skills. The theoretical background, based on the results of research carried out by the author in 2005–2019, demonstrates how knowledge of learners’ first and second languages is advantageous during the acquisition of a third language. Seeing that this process is individual (every learner has his or her different “linguistic biography”), it is difficult take this fact into account in the coursebooks. E-learning courses, which allow students to work in semi-autonomy, become helpful in this situation. Accommodating the needs of biand trilingual students, prospective foreign-language teachers and translators create their own multimedia resources that fill gaps in the didactic offerings. Moreover, the unusual forms of learning by teaching (LdL – from the German phrase Lernen durch Lehren) improve the quality of the learning process, helping students achieve the desired language and communication skills.
