Opis:: The article aims to analyze the concept of eco-innovations emphasizing the motivations for implementing them, and effects of the eco-innovation process. The author presents the principal definitions of eco-innovations. Various motivations triggering eco-innovations are presented with a focus on regulatory and market factors. Entrepreneurs should be encouraged to adopt eco-innovations because they contribute to sustainable development which is the only way for a world that is challenged by global population growth, climate change, declining non-renewable resource stock, water shortages, and environmental degradation. The effects of eco-innovations can be both positive and negative. The main aim of eco-innovations is to decrease the environmental burdens of entrepreneurial activity. However, a new attitude towards eco-innovations emphasizes the role of economic returns and supplies security. The types of effects of environmentally friendly innovations discussed in the paper include environmental, technological, economic, social, cultural and managerial.
W pierwszej części pracy przedstawiono pojęcie ekoinnowacji. Analiza problemu dotyczyła głównie przesłanek i skutków wdrażania innowacji przyjaznych środowisku. Główne determinanty wdrażania innowacji ekologicznych w przedsiębiorstwach to regulacje formalno-prawne oraz czynniki o charakterze rynkowym. Warto zachęcać przedsiębiorców do innowacji ekologicznych, gdyż wpisują się one w zasady rozwoju zrównoważonego, który jest jedynym wyjściem w obecnym świecie, w którym szybko wzrasta liczba ludności, nieodwracalnie zmienia się klimat, kurczą się nieodnawialne zasoby, brakuje wody, a środowisko naturalne jest coraz bardziej zdegradowane. Skutki wdrażania ekoinnowacji mogą być zarówno pozytywne, jak i negatywne. Celem innowacji ekologicznych jest przede wszystkim zmniejszenie negatywnych skutków działalności gospodarczej na środowisko naturalne, choć zgodnie z nowym podejściem, cele ekologiczne mają współgrać z celami ekonomicznymi. Inne konsekwencje wdrażania ekoinnowacji, to m.in.: zmniejszenie lub zwiększenie kosztów produkcji, zmiany wewnątrz organizacji o charakterze kulturowym, społecznym, organizacyjnym, pobudzenie kolejnych innowacji, wzrost konkurencyjności przedsiębiorstw, wejście na nowe rynki, wzrost sprzedaży i poprawa jakości życia konsumentów.

Opis:: Though the issue of eco-innovation is a new category in economic sciences, it is seen by farmers as a way to attain competitive advantage in the global market more and more often. The main determinants of implementation of eco-innovation in the economy are the formal and legal regulations and market factors. The primary purpose of eco-innovation is to reduce negative environmental impact of agricultural activity and to produce food that is good for people. The aim of this article is to present the issue of eco-innovation and to indicate strengths and weaknesses as well as opportunities and threats for agriculture that result from their implementation.
Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie zagadnienia ekoinnowacji oraz wskazanie silnych i słabych stron oraz szans i zagrożeń dla rolnictwa z ich wprowadzania. Mimo że zagadnienie ekoinnowacji jest nową kategorią w naukach ekonomicznych, to staje się coraz częściej dostrzegane przez rolników jako sposób na uzyskanie przewagi konkurencyjnej na globalnym rynku. Główne determinanty wdrażania innowacji ekologicznych w gospodarce to regulacje formalno-prawne oraz czynniki o charakterze rynkowym. Celem innowacji ekologicznych jest przede wszystkim zmniejszenie negatywnych skutków działalności rolniczej na środowisko naturalne, jak również produkcja żywności przyjaznej dla ludzi.

Opis:: The aim of the paper is to assess the attitudes of company managers in the food and drink sector in Western Europe and Central-Eastern Europe towards implementing marketing strategies that take into account not only economic, but social and ecological aspects as well. Innovation is a growing topic among scholars when discussing issues related to the enhancement of company performance and competitiveness. Such innovation may refer to technological changes (new products, processes), as well as non-technological ones referring to various marketing and organizational methods. In the paper the authors focus on innovations in marketing activities arising from the application of a more socio-ecological orientation. The paper comprises two parts: one theoretical, one empirical. In the first part the role of innovation in the process of creating company competitiveness is presented, as well as the concept of an innovative marketing strategy. In the second part the results of international research are discussed.

It presents the origins of the concept of eco-innovation and specifies the directions and forms of implementation of eco-innovation in the sectors of conventional power engineering based on fossil fuels, as well as unconventional power engineering based on renewable sources of energy. Furthermore, the paper stresses the significance of eco-innovation for increasing the competitiveness of entire economy.

Opis:: The aim of the study is to indicate the essence and increasing importance of the ecologization of innovative development in the glocalization of economic processes as well as the potential benefits of eco-innovation for long-term objectives of regions development. The study systematize the knowledge on this topic, and indicate the necessity of their continuous development. The applied methodology is based on an analysis of scientific literature European countries. The research methodology is systematization of approaches to the direction of innovation processes for the development, creation and implementation of innovations in the form of new products, technology, method, form of production organization, etc., which directly or indirectly contributes to reducing the environmentally destructive effects of production and consumption on the environment and solving environmental problems. The authors hypothesis is that the glocalization on the basis of the implementation of environmental innovations will contribute to the sustainable development of the economy of the regions. This is a new way of looking at the region development, i.e. that looks at how ecologization of innovative development should be used for strategic advantage of region and how processes of ecologization of innovative development of the region can be a catalyst for the processes of market glocalization and promote sustainable development of the regional economy.

ITB is a member of the consortium presented in the article of the research project entitled European test stands enabling small and medium-sized enterprises in the construction sector to develop innovative products for the construction of building facades using harmonized and modernized technical frameworks and living laboratories (2021-2026) financed by the European Commission in the Horizon 2020 research program. Enterprises (SMEs) a support system and access to the innovation ecosystem, including technical research platforms, acting as an innovation accelerator that will allow SMEs to compete with large enterprises. The article describes the boundary conditions of the project implementation with particular emphasis on the opportunities and barriers to the development of innovation in Poland.

Opis:: The present paper presents selected issues concerning the realization of ecological investment projects in agribusiness enterprises. The study was conducted in January 2013 among 75 agribusiness companies in Pomorskie (Pomeranian) and Kujawsko-Pomorskie (Kuyavian-Pomeranian) provinces. A survey was used as a research tool. The research showed that companies often implemented a comprehensive investment, not only on one ecological aspect. The survey includes 75 agribusiness enterprises based in Pomorskie (Pomeranian) and Kujawsko-pomorskie (Kuyavian-Pomeranian) Provinces. Investments concerning the realization of innovative projects in the field of ecology serve environmental protection. Such investments ought to be carried out frequently since toxins emitted into the environment, water and soil cause environmental degradation. This applies particularly to industry, municipal services, agriculture, forestry, water management, energetics, transport and households.
Przedstawiono wybrane zagadnienia dotyczące realizacji ekologicznych projektów inwestycyjnych w przedsiębiorstwach agrobiznesu. Badania przeprowadzono w styczniu 2013 r. wśród 75 przedsiębiorstw agrobiznesu z województwa pomorskiego i kujawsko-pomorskiego. Zastosowanym narzędziem badawczym był kwestionariusz ankiety. Z badań wynika, że przedsiębiorstwa często wdrażały inwestycje kompleksowe, dotyczące nie tylko jednego aspektu ekologicznego. Inwestycje dotyczące realizacji projektów innowacyjnych z zakresu ekologii służą ochronie środowiska. Muszą być one często przeprowadzane, gdyż w wyniku emisji szkodliwych' składników do atmosfery, wody i gleby powodują pogarszanie się stanu środowiska. Dotyczy to przemysłu, gospodarki komunalnej, rolnictwa, leśnictwa, gospodarki wodnej, energetyki, transportu oraz gospodarstw domowych.

Opis:: This article endeavors to present selected aspects of eco-innovation as it relates to sustainable business development. Source material for the examination is data from the Central Statistical Office of Poland (CSOP) and literature pertaining to the area of study. Statistical analysis is used as the research tool. Poland is seen as one of the European Union’s least eco-innovative members i.e. over the period of 2010-2013, it is difficult to discern visible activity in this area. As such, it remains to familiarize business with the benefits of introducing innovation; for both business and environment. The most frequently mentioned environmental benefit received by industry through eco-investment in 2012-2014, has been the recycling of waste, water, and goods for internal use or sale (8% of businesses). Eco-innovations, at the level of industry, can be identified as a means for enabling sustainable development.
Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie wybranych aspektów ekoinnowacji w powiązaniu ze zrównoważonym rozwojem przedsiębiorstwa. Materiałem badawczym są dane źródłowe Głównego Urzędu Statystycznego oraz literatura przedmiotu badań. Jako narzędzie badawcze zastoso-wano analizę opisową. Polska jest jednym z najmniej ekoinnowacyjnych państw w Unii Europejskiej. Na przestrzeni lat 2010 - 2013 nie można stwierdzić wyraźnej aktywności w tym zakresie. Dlatego należy podejmować działania mające uświadomić przedsiębiorców o korzyściach płynących z wdrażania innowacji (zarówno dla przedsiębiorców jak i ochrony środowiska). Najczęściej wskazywaną korzyścią dla środowiska uzyskaną przez przedsiębiorstwa przemysłowe w wyniku wprowadzenia ekoinnowacji w latach 2012-2014 było powtórne wykorzystanie odpadów, wody lub materiałów na własny użytek lub sprzedaż (8% przedsiębiorstw). Ekoinnowacje na poziomie przed-siębiorstwa mogą być traktowane jako narzędzie wspierające realizację strategii rozwoju zrównoważonego.

Opis:: In this paper, we analyze the competitive and innovative trajectories followed by the canned fish industry in recent times. We base our study on four case studies from the Galician industry in Spain, which comprises the largest share of the European canned fish sector. At least four different innovation patterns are found in the industry. The first pattern is a conservative one where innovation is seen as a risk and therefore maintaining current routines is the chosen option. The second pattern has been defined as “large retailer-dominated” and is followed by companies that have signed exclusive agreements with large retailers, which increasingly determine most of their innovation activities. The third strategy we have defined as “territory-orientated,” since product innovation and incorporation of quality distinctions based on the territory are the main innovation drivers. Finally, we have an “ecological or nature-orientated” innovation strategy where meeting ecological normative requirements is the main innovation driver.
