Opis:: While choosing an electronic payment system intended for an immediate communication of a user (passenger) with an electronic terminal of a service provider (carrier), it is necessary to respect system parameters of presented technologies (NFC, EMV, and ABT). The methodology of choosing an electronic payment system within public transport may be divided into three steps as follows: • outlining criteria for variants evaluation, • multi-criterial evaluation of variants, and • evaluation of empirical research results. The presented article introduces more results of the research within VEGA project solving. Specifically, the article presents results of the multi-criterial expert decisionmaking problem using the WSA (Weighted Sum Approach) method and the TOPSIS (Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution) method. At the end of the article, there are presented results of empirical research studies focused on an electronic payment system used in public passenger transport. The empirical research studies were realized in the Slovak Republic in 2014, 2016, and 2018.

Opis:: In 2018, there was an empirical research conducted in passengers' interest in innovative methods of passenger handling within passenger transport in the Slovak Republic. The research determined the knowledge of passengers regarding new methods, namely, NFC technologies, EMV technologies and ABT technologies. The article defines the methodology of choosing an electronic payment system within public transport, followed by partial results of research multicriteria evaluation of alternatives electronic payment system in public transport. For evaluation of variants, an electronic payment system within public transport was the selected method of a total utility.

Opis:: Subject and purpose of work: The article presents the diversity of the use of EU funds for tourism in Poland in the region of Eastern Poland in the years 2014–2020. The focus was on indicating the regional differentiation of the size and type structure of projects. Materials and methods: The information base was data on projects co-financed from EU funds, collected in the National Information System (KSI SIMIK 2014-2020). Results: In all voivodships, both in terms of the number of projects and their values, projects in the field of culture (cultural heritage, cultural institutions, cultural events) definitely dominated. They constituted over 50% of the total number of all projects and 65% of their total value. Conclusions: In the years 2014-2020 tourism was included in the Regional Operational Programs indirectly, which impacted on the nature of implemented projects. Between them dominated projects related to the modernization and preservation of tourism resources, especially cultural projects.

Opis:: The systems of selling tickets for urban transport services, realized basing on paper tickets, is severely limited, both within the aspect of collecting data concerning the services demand, and as far as the possibilities to diversify the prices and to shape transport tariffs are concerned. The development of the advanced IT technologies enable the use of telematic technologies in tariff systems of the local collective transport. Investing in the modern payment systems for the urban services is connected with considerable financial contributions from public resources, and the expected effect of the implementation is the defined functionality which is to substantially support the process of pricing and of transport offer optimization. The goal of the article is to present the possibilities resulting from the use of telematic tools in the process of shaping transport tariffs and to present the potential and the desired directions of the changes in the tariff systems of the local collective transport.

Opis:: Electronic payment systems used for urban services are implemented and funded by the public sector. Those are rather big investments, characterized by high costs, but they also allow for gaining profits – mainly connected with the transport offer optimization and with more effective price management. When preparing the documents, among other papers concerning functionality or technical and technological solutions, it is necessary to prepare a feasibility study, in which the assessment of the effectiveness of such investments is an important part. To do so, one ought to identify and assess the costs and the profits connected with the realization of such projects. Such assessment ought to be performed within the frame of financial analyses (from the perspective of the unit implementing and using the solutions) and of economic analyses within which the external costs and profits should also be considered.

Opis:: In a connected and uncertain world, where almost two thirds of the world's population are now online, the integration of digital tools in the social and economic context is becoming a priority and an imposed choice for any organization. As a result, the strategic position of the Information System (IS) in these organizations is necessarily linked to performance. The creation of added value or net benefits through the use of these platforms becomes an ultimate and strategic objective for any organization. This study evaluates the success of the information system (IS) for electronic payment of port fees. From a quantitative approach of a hypothetico-deductive nature and using partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM), we found that the success of the IS implies a quality of the electronic payment system, as well as the information produced influences the use and satisfaction of the users and finally these last two findings impact the individual and organizational performance of the organizations. Opis:: Payments have an important impact on the development of countries and economies, enabling an efficient exchange of goods and services. Electronic payments are a relatively new instrument which has evolved in different ways in particular countries of Europe. The following article focuses on presenting and comparing retail electronic payment systems, with special consideration given to card payments in three groups of European countries: countries of Western Europe, countries of Central and Eastern Europe, and the so-called “tigers of Europe”, namely Russia and Turkey. The analyzed groups of countries vary in terms of payments markets, and one of the areas with significant differences is the level of development of local payment schemes and national processors that are fundaments of local payment infrastructure and jointly with the infrastructure of international payment schemes allow for effective development of the payment system.
Płatności mają istotne znaczenie dla rozwoju krajów i gospodarek, umożliwiają bowiem efektywną wymianę dóbr i usług. Płatności elektroniczne są zjawiskiem stosunkowo nowym i rozwinęły się w poszczególnych krajach Europy w inny sposób. Niniejsze opracowanie skupia się na przedstawieniu i porównaniu elektronicznych systemów płatności detalicznych, zwłaszcza kartowych, w trzech grupach krajów europejskich: krajach Europy Zachodniej, krajach Europy Środkowej i Wschodniej, oraz tzw. tygrysach Europy (Rosji i Turcji). Analizowane grupy krajów cechują się różną charakterystyką rynków płatniczych, a jednym z obszarów, gdzie widoczne są wyraźne różnice, jest poziom rozwoju lokalnych schematów płatniczych oraz krajowych procesorów płatności. Pełnią one rolę lokalnej infrastruktury płatniczej, która wraz z infrastrukturą międzynarodowych schematów płatniczych pozwala na efektywny rozwój systemu płatniczego.

Opis:: This monograph was created as a part of the project titled “Electronic means of payment without the issuer” financed by the Polish National Science Centre (NSC), based on the decision No DEC-2013/09/B/HS5/00019. The premise of awarding of funds by NCN was to promote interdisciplinarity, hence the research covered three domains: computer science, economics and law. This division was reflected in the monograph, where each chapter is dedicated to a separate aspect of the functioning of cryptocurrencies, which, so far, are the only example of existing electronic means of payment without the issuer. Thus, the methodology, according to which the monograph has been written is not uniform and varies depending on the research area. This heterogeneous methodology, having a significant impact on the differences in the grid of concepts used in each research area, poses the biggest difficulties in the interdisciplinary studies. On one hand, it renders the harmonious cooperation in various disciplines impossible, as the same phenomenon (cryptocurrency in this case) appears to be quite different depending on the point of view resulting from the applied research method. On the other hand, it is impossible to imagine a proper, comprehensive analysis of such a phenomenon as cryptocurrency without the study of computer science, economics, and law. It is striking that so far there is no similar comprehensive monographic paper on cryptocurrencies in the world’s literature. This is the first such a publication in the world.
