Opis:: Artykuł porusza kwestię swoistości spuścizny epistolarnej Łesi Ukrainki. Przeanalizowano jej ego-teksty, w których wyodrębniono charakterystyczne cechy kreatywności językowej poetki, specyfikę odczuwania świata itp. Takie ujęcie tematu pozwoliło prześledzić biografię „językową” poetki, jej intertekstualizm, kompetencje słowotwórcze, właściwości idiostylu epistolarnego czy wręcz cechy osobowościowe. Proces pisania listów pojawił się także w twórczości literackiej Łesi Ukrainki jako jeden z fenomenów aktywności człowieka. Szczegółowa analiza dowodzi, że właśnie na tym polu poetka przejawiała swą skłonność do eksperymentów, a także zaprezentowała swoje poglądy na temat zarówno otaczającego świata, jak i literatury i kultury.
The article focuses on the peculiarities of the epistolary inheritance of Lesia Ukrainka. Her texts have been analyzed in which the linguistic creativity of the writer has been singled out. The peculiarities of her vision of the world, her feeling of the world, L. Ukrainka’s „language” biography, the specificity of the intertextuality, the ability of the word creativity, the features of the epistolary idiostyle, the signs of the epistolary behavior, the traits of character etc. have been analyzed. The process of writing the letters was represented in her creative work in which she eulogized the epistolary activity. The letter was considered by her as a phenomenon of a human being activity. The analysis illustrates the following: the epistolary inheritance of the poetess indicates her inclination to experiments; the analysis also represents Lesia Ukrainka’s views on environment, linguistic political problems, the aspects of translation studies and culturology.

Opis:: One of the only papyri found during T. Górecki’s excavations in the hermitage MMA 1152 (western Thebes), the letter published here is a good example of the difficulty of getting papyrus in the area at that time (7th-8th cent. A.D.). The edition of the text is followed by an appendix on the terminology of papyrus sheets and rolls (especially ⲥⲕⲉⲧⲁⲗⲏ / σχεδάριον) as well as some remarks on prices.

Opis:: The aim of this article is to analyze the collection of letters between Wiktor Woroszylski and the writers: Jerzy Stempowski, Jerzy Giedroyc and Zbigniew Żakiewicz. It is based on two volumes of Woroszylski's letters, published in 2020. The paper reveals a letter as genre, which can be read as an evidence of a writer's life, a historical document, as well as a commentary on a legacy. The first three parts of the text include an analysis of the collection of letters. It traces the characteristics of the relationships between the correspondents and the main subjects of the conversations along with the crucial writing strategies. The last part covers a wider reflection on the epistolographic work of Woroszylski. Firstly, the key features of the letter as a genre are considered, i.e. its performativity, dialogicality (connected with the relation between "you" and "I") and at the same time conversion between the personal and textual self. Secondly, the main issue of the paper reveals Woroszylski as an author, a man, a correspondent and an activist but also shows how he manifests himself in the letters. The main purpose is to present Woroszylski as a subject of epistolary writing. It means that he has to be considered as a real person at a specific point in life as well as in the instance related to the situation of the text. It is related to the author's self-creation in two meanings of this word: self-presentation and self-conceptualization. Nevertheless, the image of Woroszylski remains internally consistent and, furthermore, it is compatible with his biographical and creative portrait. To conclude it must be admitted that his epistolography should be examined among the writer's other works, because, as a genre, letters refer to the real world and require both textual and non-textual references.

Opis:: The article analyzes the letters of L. Dobychin from 1924-1936. It reveals the main characteristics of the images of the author and the addressee, explicit and implicit forms of the author’s self-expression, the author’s epistolary intentions. The article shows that for Dobychin letters are not only external, but also internal representant of a personality, the most important way of formation of the image of “I” in its subjective and objective significance. The uniqueness of the author’s epistolary personality is determined by absolute sincerity and uncompromising judgment, etiquette pedantry, the combination of ironic and sentimental intonations, acute experience of his relations with the world and people, idealization of writerly status, orientation to the ideal norm both in aesthetic and in behavioral sense. The image of the addressee of the letters is partly mythologized and determined by the type of relationship between the correspondents and the role chosen by the addressee. The variations of the author’s “ego” and the change of the addressees’ role functions provide an expansion of the semantic and aesthetic potential of the image of the addressee and the correspondence as a whole.

Opis:: This paper deals with intentional breakaway of novel elements in romantic story published in 1820. On the one hand, the book belongs to the rich tradition of epistolary, on the other, it also gives un example of how formal borders can be transgressed between novel composed of letters and novel written as intimate diary, what leads to the disappearance of typical novel elements in texts from the turn of XVII and XVIII c. This absence of fiction appears firstly in paratext (especially in preface to the novel), where the author presents his own concept of novel, and then in letters.

Opis:: This paper focuses on Witold Wirpsza’s Letters from the volume Second Resistance. Poems 1960–1964 (1965) and shows how irony becomes a deconstruction of dying, and at the same time of itself and of literary communication in general. The persiflage-oriented ars moriendi turns out to be a diagnosis directed against the discourses of thanatology, operating in institutions of power, medicine or religion (public letters) and family (private letters). Wirpsza designed it as a play of signs and communication noise in which meanings embedded in surface and deeper semantic levels intersect and contradict each other. This is accomplished by writing about death through epistolary, postal, philatelic tropes, concerning message, mediation and transmission. What are particularly important are the metaliterary parts, parabases intensifying the irony, which contain the vision of a postage stamp robbery as reality transformed into signs. The interpretation of the Letters reveals that the deconstructive irony makes epistolary poetry a literary event – the letter, writing that is to be stolen, killed, read by the reader in her or his own way.
