Opis:
The gradient-projection algorithm (GPA) plays an important role in solving constrained convex minimization problems. In this paper, we combine the GPA and averaged mapping approach to propose an explicit composite iterative scheme for finding a common solution of a generalized equilibrium problem and a constrained convex minimization problem. Then, we prove a strong convergence theorem which improves and extends some recent results.

Opis:
In this paper, we propose and analyse an iterative algorithm for the approximation of a common solution for a finite family of k-strict pseudocontractions and two finite families of generalized equilibrium problems in the setting of Hilbert spaces. Strong convergence results of the proposed iterative algorithm together with some applications to solve the variational inequality problems are established in such setting. Our results generalize and improve various existing results in the current literature.

Opis:
In this paper, we introduce a hybrid iterative scheme for finding a common element of the set of solutions for a system of mixed equilibrium problems, the set of common fixed points for a nonexpansive semigroup and the set of solutions of the quasi-variational inclusion problem with multi-valued maximal monotone mappings and inverse-strongly monotone mappings in a Hilbert space. Under suitable conditions, some strong convergence theorems are proved. Our results extend some recent results in the literature.

Opis:
In the paper we analyze the influence of implicit programming hypothesis and presence of state constraints on first order optimality conditions to mathematical programs with equilibrium constraints. In the absence of state constraints, we derive sharp stationarity conditions, provided the strong regularity condition holds. In the second part of the paper we suggest an exact penalization of state constraints and test the behavior of standard bundle trust region algorithm on academic examples.

Opis:
The paper considers an optimization problem in which the minima of a finite collection of objective functions satisfy some unilateral constraints and are linked together by a certain subdifferential relationship. The governing relations are stated as a variational inequality defined on a nonconvex feasible set. By the reduction to the variational inequality involving nonmonotone multivalued mapping, defined over nonnegative orthant, the existence of solutions is examined. The prototype is the general economic equilibrium problem. The exemplification of the theory for the quadratic multi-objective function is provided.

Opis:
The aim of this paper is to present a new, analytical, method for computing the exact number of relative equilibria in the planar, circular, restricted 4-body problem of celestial mechanics. The new approach allows for a very efficient computer-aided proof, and opens a potential pathway to proving harder instances of the n-body problem.

Opis:
The number of central configurations in the Grebenicov-Elmabsout model of the planar five-body problem is estimated. An appropriate rational parameterization is used to reduce the equations defining such configurations to some polynomial ones. For the restricted five-body problem a sharp estimation is given by using the Sturm separation theorem.

Opis:
A model of partnership formation is considered in which there are two classes of player (called male and female). There is a continuum of players and two types of both sexes. These two types can be interpreted, e.g. as two subspecies, and each searcher prefers to pair with an individual of the same type. Players begin searching at time zero and search until they find a mutually acceptable prospective partner or the mating season ends. When a pair is formed, both individuals leave the pool of searchers. Hence, the proportion of players still searching and the distribution of types changes over time. Prospective partners are found at a rate which is non- decreasing the proportion of players still searching. Nash equilibria are derived which satisfy the following optimality criterion: each searcher accepts a prospective partner if and only if the reward from such a partnership is greater or equal to the expected reward obtained from future search. So called ”completely symmetric” versions of this game are considered, where the two types of player are equally frequent. A unique Nash equilibrium exists regardless of the precise rule determining the rate at which prospective partners are found. Two examples are given.

Opis:
This paper refers to the author's previous work, in which the ‘weak’ turnpike theorem in the stationary Gale economy was proved. This theorem states that each optimal growth process {y*(t)}t*1t=0 that leads the economy in the shortest possible time t*1 from the (initial) state of y0 to the set of target/postulated states Y1 almost always runs in the neighbourhood of the production turnpike, where the economy remains in a specific dynamic equilibrium (peak growth equilibrium). This paper presents a proof of the ‘very strong’ turnpike theorem in the stationary Gale economy, which states that if the optimal process (the solution to the minimaltime growth problem) reaches a turnpike in a certain period of time tˇ < t*1 - 1, then it stays on it everywhere else, except for, at most, final period t*1. The obtained result confirms the wellknown Samuelson hypothesis about the specific turnpike stability of optimal growth paths in multiproduct/multisectoral von Neumann-Leontief-Gale-type models, also in the case where the growth criterion is not the (normally assumed) utility of production but the time needed by the economy to achieve the postulated target level or volume of production.

Opis:
In mathematical economics there is a number of so called “turnpike theorems” proved mainly on the basis of multiproduct models of economic dynamics. According to these theorems, all optimal paths of economic growth over a long period of time converge to a certain path (turnpike) in which the economy achieves the highest growth rate while remaining in a specific dynamic (von Neumann) equilibrium. The article refers to this trend and presents some properties of optimal growth processes in the Gale-type model of the stationary economy when the quality criterion of growth processes is not the utility of production-which is normally postulated in the turnpike theory-but the time needed by the economy to achieve the desired final state, e.g. the level of production or production value. According to the author's knowledge, the idea of using time as a criterion for growth in turnpike theory (especially in Gale-type economy) is innovative. It has been proven that changing the growth criterion does not deprive the Gale economy of its asymptotic / turnpike properties.
