Let me stress that it is worth noting the radical deficit of social solidarity (or “brotherhood”, as one of the authors prefers) that appeared in the modern era (that is, following the French Revolution). It is also worth noting not so much how the idea of solidarity takes shape, but how its practice does.

Opis:: The paper presents the structure and functioning of mediosphere and then discusses it in the context of ethics. It is a phenomenon which belongs to the domain of environment, and therefore exhibits a high level of effectiveness. Mediosphere is an environment generated by the media which are used by people. The human being is the most important element of this environment and influences it in a peculiar way. Hence, each mediosphere is different. The structure and functioning of mediosphere is affected by its layers, namely logosphere, iconosphere, sonosphere, and galenosphere. A consequence of the ‘environmental’ nature of mediosphere is that negative effects of particular phenomena pertaining to the activity of the media are cumulated. Therefore, the ethical aspects of mediosphere are very important and topical. Reflections on this facet of mediosphere may prove useful for both people involved in the media and teachers, whose task, among others, is to prepare students for an adequate reception of what is offered by the press, radio, television, and the Internet. The discussion includes reference to examples of studies by those Western authors who propose practical guidelines and precautionary measures to prevent violation of ethical principles in the functioning of mediosphere.

Opis:: Celem niniejszego artykułu jest podsumowanie polskiego dorobku publikacyjnego w obszarze etyki w rachunkowości. Aby ten cel osiągnąć, dokonano analizy ilościowej oraz analizy treści ponad 100 artykułów dotyczących etycznych aspektów rachunkowości, opublikowanych w krajowych czasopismach. Wyniki przeprowadzonego badania wskazują, że w większości prac kwestie etyczne porusza się wyłącznie w ujęciu czysto teoretycznym, a ich autorzy koncentrują się w szczególności na podejściu do etyki w rachunkowości z perspektywy etyki zawodowej. Przeprowadzona analiza piśmiennictwa pozwoliła na zidentyfikowanie luki badawczej oraz wskazanie dalszych możliwych kierunków dociekań naukowych w postaci pogłębionych studiów teoretycznych oraz badań empirycznych. Wnioski z przeprowadzonego badania mogą zatem stanowić cenną wskazówkę dla przedstawicieli polskiej nauki, zainteresowanych omawianą problematyką, i stanowić krok w kierunku podjęcia przez nich badań w nieeksplorowanych dotąd obszarach. Dokonany przegląd piśmiennictwa stanowi pierwsze w Polsce kompleksowe podsu- mowanie dotychczasowych dokonań polskich badaczy dotyczących etycznych aspektów rachunkowości.
The purpose of this paper is to summarize the Polish publications devoted to the ethical aspects of accounting. Based on more than 100 articles gathered from national journals, this paper analyses the quantitative as well as the thematic aspects of the publications. The results of the study indicate that the majority of articles are theoretical and are concerned with the accounting profession. The literature analysis made it possible to identify the research gap. It also indicates the directions for further research, which may be conducted in the form of in-depth theoretical and empirical studies. Therefore, the findings of the study may provide valuable guidance for Polish researchers interested in the discussed issues, and they constitute a starting point for conducting new research in areas not yet explored. This literature review is the first comprehensive summary of the accomplishments of Polish researchers in the field of ethical aspects of accounting in Poland.

Opis:: Owing to the specificity of the experimental tests conducted in impact biomechanics, whose subjects are volunteers, cadavers or animals, ethical and legal aspects are just as formidable as the restrictions of 'technical nature'. The first part of the paper presents fundamental ethical principles, universally accepted by the international community, which must be followed in the course of conducting biomedical experimental tests (including those that fall under the category of impact biomechanics). The second part is a presentation of the preparation (e.g. to install a great number of measurement sensors, necessary for collection of as much data as possible regarding the behaviour of individual body parts under impact load) and course of experimental tests in which human cadavers were subjected to different loading scenarios of the thorax. The purpose of these tests was to identify the parameters and to validate an advanced simulation model of the human thorax developed within the THOMO project.

Opis:: The phenomenon of suicide has been present in the history of humanity since the beginning of its existence. Suicidal acts were committed in every epoch and culture, but the scale of the phenomenon has been increasing with the development of civilisation. The aggravation of the problem has caused scholars to reflect on reasons for suicide and the nature of the suicidal act itself. Therefore, suicide is a subject of interest of various fields of study, including philosophy, theology, pedagogy, psychology, sociology and criminology. The article attempts to present the state of knowledge on the discussed issue from three perspectives. The authors present the problem of suicide in the context of selected philosophical currents, ethical systems and social motives by which people committing suicide are driven. Then the authors point at the philosophical conditioning which, in appropriate circumstances, is conducive to suicidal behaviour. The above mentioned issues are analysed on the basis of extensive epidemiological data.
Zjawisko samobójstwa występuje w dziejach ludzkości od początków jego istnienia. Niezależnie od kultury czy epoki historycznej dokonywano aktów samobójczych, jednak skala tego zjawiska nasilała się wraz z rozwojem cywilizacyjnym. W związku z narastaniem problemu również w nauce podjęto refleksję na temat analizy przyczyn samobójstwa i samego aktu samobójczego. A zatem samobójstwo jest przedmiotem zainteresowania wielu dziedzin nauki, m.in.: filozofii, teologii, pedagogiki, psychologii, socjologii czy kryminologii. Artykuł jest próbą przedstawienia stanu wiedzy na temat omawianego zjawiska w trzech perspektywach. Autorzy przedstawiają problem samobójstwa w kontekście wybranych nurtów filozoficznych i systemów etycznych, jak również społecznych motywów, które kierują samobójcami. Następnie wskazują na uwarunkowania psychologiczne, które w odpowiednich okolicznościach sprzyjają zachowaniom samobójczym. Powyższe zagadnienia są analizowane na bazie obszernych danych epidemiologicznych.

I give the explanation of basic terms of abortion. The second chapter deals with legality of abortion in Poland. The third chapter pertains the problem of legality of abortion around the world. I discuss the phenomenon of selective abortion in Asia. The Chapter Four is devoted to the dispute concerning the legalization of abortion. I quote the arguments of opponents and supporters of abortion. In the last chapter, the fifth one, I show the permissibility of abortion in terms of various religions.
Tematem mojej pracy magisterskiej jest aborcja w ujeciu etyki i prawa. Praca składa się z pięciu rozdziałów. W pierwszym podaję definicje aborcji i różne jej rodzaje. Objaśniam podstawowe terminy. Rozdział drugi traktuje o prawnej dopuszczalności aborcji w Polsce. W trzecim rozdziale zajmuję się problemem prawnej dopuszczalności aborcji na świecie. Omawiam także zjawisko selektywnej aborcji w Azji. Rozdział czwarty poświęcam sporowi dotyczącemu legalizacji przerywania ciąży. Przytaczam argumenty przeciwników oraz zwolenników aborcji. W ostatnim rozdziale, piątym, ukazuję dopuszczalność aborcji w ujęciu różnych religii.

Opis:: This study does not present a complete picture of the philosophy of human work in the socio-philosophical thought by Józef Tischner. Instead, our focus is primarily on the diagnosis, which Tischner put in one of his recent and less known studies on the condition of human work in the era of the free market and the economic hegemony of the bill of rights. Exposing various threats and crises of contemporary work, Tischner criticizes the lopsided, that is, objective understanding of work. In this lopsidedness, he discovers a major threat to the future of work. Therefore Tischner also draws attention to the need to take into account the subjective or personal nature of work, which he understood as a conversation between people. It is this essential dimension of human work that was the subject of the long studies by Tischner. The present article focuses on these studies in which Tischner – giving a phenomenological description of work in its religious, anthropological and ethical aspect – indicates the need for the formation of the human ethical substance of consciousness work. An important stage of this formation is to present the human work as a space to build the community of responsibility, loyalty and mutual trust. In work regarded in this sense, Tischner sees a guarantee of moral governance of modern societies.

Opis:: The author of the article discusses the name of the food product MAKARą in the context of unlimited rights of proper names. According to the traditional view, a proper name denotes only and has no meaning, although this theory is undermined in the light of new linguistic phenomena. Lots of chrematonyms has also an advertising function, some of them basing on appelatives and being created in such a way the relation between an appeletive and a proper name could be readable. This is in case of MAKARą derived from makaron (English noodle) with the transforming of spelling and pronunciation. Regardless of whether the pragmatic effect of the name is successful, from the point of view of the system of Polish language the name brings a lot of trouble. It is not accentuated in accordance with the rules of Polish stress and it cannot be inflected. Its form does not allow to decide about its grammatical gender unamibiguously and when spelt according to the Polish spelling rules {Makarą), loses its advertising power. There is also an ethical aspect of the discussed name - because of its deceptive form, namely the ending -ą. It can have bad influence on the correctness of language. This is because there are specific troubles connected with the pronunciation and spelling of nasal vowels and the group consisting of a vowel and a nasal consonant and the mistakes in this area are still common. The example of the name discussed prompts the author to reflect on whether creating proper names should be at least in some way restricted.
