Opis:: Internal audit provides an independent and objective opinion to the Board on risk management, control and governance, by measuring and evaluating their effectiveness in achieving an organisation’s agreed objectives. It also provides an independent and objective consultancy service to help line management improve the organisation’s processes. Internal auditors should respect in their work some ethical rules, especially these included in the Code of Ethics formed by the IIA. This code is intended to clarify the standard of conduct expected from all members of the internal audit unit. The main four principles that should be observed are as follows: integrity, objectivity, competency and confidentiality Being ethical in internal audit is necessary in order to win the trust of the environment in which auditors work. However, declaring one’s readiness to respect the Code of Ethics is not enough. Much more important is to implement and comply with given rules in carrying out audit duties.

Opis:: W artykule scharakteryzowany jest problem dotąd nieobecny w literaturze przedmiotu. Przedstawiona jest analiza występowania w kodeksach etycznych radnych pojęcia odpowiedzialności, jednej z podstawowych wartości wymaganej od polityków zarówno przez wyborców, jak również przez liczne dokumenty normatywne. Na podstawie analizy 58 kodeksów przedstawiona jest teza, że w prawie wszystkich kodeksach obecne jest pojęcie odpowiedzialności. Wyróżnione zostają również podstawowe jej rodzaje: odpowiedzialność przed mieszkańcami, wobec wspólnoty, merytokratyczna oraz regulaminowa.
The article characterizes a problem not yet present in the literature on the subject. An analysis is presented an analysis of the occurrence of the concept of responsibility in ethical codes of councilors, one of the basic values required from politicians by voters as well as by numerous normative documents. On the basis of the analysis of 58 codes, the thesis will be presented that the concept of responsibility is present in almost all codes. In particular, it is about responsibility towards the residents, towards the community, meritocratic and statutory.

Opis:: The aim of this article is to point out the basic areas of judgment made by employees considering the ethical or unethical behaviour of employers in the workplace. The authors analyse this subject from three perspectives: The first one is labour legislation in Poland; the second is the perspective of employers, especially codes of ethical standards created by contemporary organizations, and the third perspective is the point of view of employees. The conclusions in this area have been made on the basis of research in two Polish insurance companies. The authors attempted to create a ranking of ethical elements significant for employees. Such knowledge could be very useful for creating proper personnel policy in any organisation.

Opis:: The article analyzes the crisis of political and medical elites in the context of honesty, reliability and diligence. The starting point is the notion of “professional elite” and the differences between representatives of both groups. The text emphasizes the public resonance and interpretation of both professions. According to E. Freidson’s theoretical model, the physician`s and politician`s authorities have different reasons, functions and legitimization. Both professions are based on public trust in interaction practices. The public expectations are focused mostly on instrumental and axiological trust. Obeying various rules and norms is expected from both professions but the social control and sanctions are different. Both physicians and politicians have their own ethical codes; the problem is that they are not always respected. The article concludes with discussion on the notion of risk in both professions and presents suggestions about what elites should do to maintain or regain public trust.

Opis:: The research problem described in the title of the article can be formulated as a question: by what means is the idea of the University’s social responsibility implemented at the Wrocław University of Science and Technology in its operation? We are talking here about the idea of sensu largo, because universities’ social responsibility requires an even more complete theoretical conceptualization. This idea refers to the theoretically recognized, complex, constantly changing, and multi-directional and network cooperation between the University and the heterogeneous environment. The conclusions of this submission may be a stimulus for further research on the developing concept of university social responsibility. The first part of the article is based on the analysis of the literature of the subject, while the second part examines documents.

Opis:: Ethical codes, including ethical codes of politicians, are adopted to counteract various unethical behaviors. In the article, based on the analysis of 58 ethical codes of councilors, selected elements and dilemmas of personal patterns of politicians (councilors) were presented. The author asks whether ethical codes of councilors can counteract such negative behaviors? He answers that some of them cannot counteract unethical behavior, because they do not meet the expectations formulated for them.
Kodeksy etyczne, także kodeksy etyczne polityków, przyjmowane są po to, aby przeciwdziałać różnym nieetycznym zachowaniom. W artykule, na podstawie analizy 58 kodeksów etycznych radnych, przedstawione są wybrane elementy i dylematy wzorów osobowych polityków. Autor pyta, czy kodeksy etyczne radnych mogą przeciwdziałać nieetycznym zachowaniom. Odpowiada, że część z nich nie może im przeciwdziałać, ponieważ nie spełnia formułowanych wobec nich oczekiwań.

Opis:: This article refers to ethics in legal profession, perceiving it as a profession of public trust. The author shows various legal branches which workers are commonly called lawyers and describes the principles contained in a few ethical codes: solicitor, bailiff, prosecutor and advocate. Artykuł przedstawia także kwestie zachowań etycznych w życiu prywatnym, niezbędnych, aby być dobrym prawnikiem. Autorka opisuje także zasady etyki prawniczej, takie jak relacja prawnika z klientem, zasada autonomii, zasada kompetencji, zasada szczerości oraz tajemnica zawodowa.

Baryły do pomiaru 3 kodów etycznych: etyki autonomii, etyki dobra powszechnego, etyki godności wśród studentów uniwersytetów i szkół wyższych z terenu województwa śląskiego i małopolskiego (próba N = 577). Badani studiowali pedagogikę, w większości były to kobiety (n = 547). Badania zostały przeprowadzone w 2015 i 2016 roku. W tym artykule zaprezentowano wybrane kody etyczne w kontekście zakładanych efektów kształcenia na kierunku pedagogika, poziomu wykształcenia i postrzegania przez studentów zachowań etycznych swoich wykładowców.
The purpose of this article is to attempt to answer the questions, how students perceive ethical values in behaviour of academic teachers, how observation of these behaviours, contact with the teacher in the process of education affect ethics in behaviour of students, their moral judgments. We used standardized Ethics Questionnaire by B. Wojciszke and W. Baryła for the measuring 3 ethics codes and we verified the level of ethics autonomy, ethics of common good, ethics of dignity among students and colleges from the area of the Silesian and Małopolskie voivodeships (sample N = 577). Participants were studying pedagogy, mostly women (n = 547). The study was conducted in 2015 and 2016. In this paper we analyzed the differences in the selected ethics codes and assumed results of education in pedagogy, the level of education and the students perception of ethical behave of their lecturers.

Connection between a level of achievement motivation and ethical codes by women.

Opis:: Celem niniejszej pracy jest określenie, czy frazeologizmy „iść po trupach do celu” lub „wyścig szczurów” mają odzwierciedlenie w postawach kobiet, pracujących w średnich i dużych firmach. Propozycją sprawdzenia faktyczności tych sformułowań jest badanie korelacji poziomu motywacji osiągnięć z poszczególnymi postawami etycznymi. Hipotezą ogólną badania jest założenie, że zjawiska opisywane terminami „wyścig szczurów” czy „iść po trupach do celu” w postawach kobiet pracujących w średnich i dużych firmach nie występują. Hipotezy szczegółowe operacjonalizują to stwierdzenie zakładając występowanie lub brak związku poziomu motywacji osiągnięć z poszczególnymi Kodami etycznymi. W celu empirycznej weryfikacji hipotez użyto dwóch narzędzi psychologicznych, mianowicie Inwentarza Motywacji Osiągnięć i Kwestionariusza Etyk. Przebadano 40 kobiet w wieku 25-35 lat, posiadających wyższe wykształcenie i aktywnych zawodowo. Wyniki analizy statystycznej częściowo potwierdziły hipotezy badania. Korelacja poziomu motywacji osiągnięć z kolejnymi etykami przedstawia się następująco: z etyką autonomii (r = 0,334; p = 0,035), z etyką kolektywistyczna (r = -0,113; p = 0,487), z etyką dobra powszechnego (r = 0,034; p = 0,833), z etyką godności (r = 0,015; p = 0,925) oraz z etyką produktywności (r = 0,115; p = 0,482). Istotna zależność zachodzi więc tylko między poziomem motywacji osiągnięć a Etyką autonomii. Etyka Dobra Powszechnego oraz Etyka autonomii były dwiema najczęściej aktywowanymi etykami ze wszystkich. Aż 67,5 procent wszystkich badanych wybierało jedną z nic, w tym Etykę autonomii 35 procent a Etykę dobra powszechnego 32,5 procent badanych. Kwestionariusz Etyk według autorów wyłania wiodący styl etyczny, co w świetle zaprezentowanych wyników wskazuje na dbałość o dobro innych ludzi jako główną wartość u badanych.
The purpose of this thesis is to determine if idiomatic expressions such as “rat race” or “by hook or by crook” have anything to do with actual attitude of women working in medium and big companies. Proposition of verification of these statements is a study determining correlation between the level of achievement motivation and individual ethical codes. General hypothesis of the study is an assumption that the phenomenon described by the idiomatic expressions such as “rat race” or “by hook or by crook” does not occur in the attitude of women working in medium and big companies. Extensive hypothesis refers to occurrence or nonoccurrence of correlation between the level of achievement motivation and individual ethic codes. In order to verify this hypothesis, two psychological tools have been used – Achievement Motivation Inventory and The Ethical Questionnaire. The study involved 40 women between 25 and 35 years of age who are professionally active graduates.The results of statistical analysis have partly confirmed the hypothesis of the study. Correlation of the level of achievement motivation and each ethical code is as follows: with ethic of autonomy (r = 0,334; p = 0,035), with ethic of community (r = -0,113; p = 0,487), with ethic of common good (r = 0,034; p = 0,833), with ethic of dignity (r = 0,015; p = 0,925) and with ethic of productivity (r = 0,115; p = 0,482). Significant connection is visible only between level of achievement motivation and ethic of autonomy. Ethic of common good and ethic of autonomy have been activated the most often. 67,5 percent of subject has been likely to choose one of them – 35 percent ethic of autonomy, 32,5 percent ethic of common good. According to authors of The Ethical Questionnaire, it selects the leading ethic. Regarding the results, taking care of common good may be treated as the main value of the subject.

Opis:: Artykuł zawiera analizę kodeksów etycznych firm opartą głównie na koncepcji wyrażeń performatywnych. W pierwszym paragrafie opisany zostaje ogólny problem etyki stosowanej – mianowicie pewien rodzaj autorytaryzmu, który często stanowi jej ukryte założenie. Ów „autorytaryzm” można dostrzec w kodeksach etycznych firm, dlatego w drugim punkcie zaprezentowano typowe rodzaje wyrażeń pojawiających się w kodeksach. Trzeci punkt zawiera odpowiedź na pytanie czy wskazane typy wyrażeń można traktować jako właściwe zobowiązania (fortunne performatywy). W rezultacie analiz w czwartej części wymienione zostają typowe językowe mechanizmy przywłaszczenia namysłu moralnego pracownika w kodeksach etycznych firm.
The article contains analysis on what is called „ethical codes„ or „codes of conduct‟. In first paragraph it deals generally with chosen problem of applied ethic – namely kind of authoritarianism” as its hidden assumption. This “authoritarianism” can be seen in ethical codes, so in second paragraph the typical phrases of codes are presented. Third paragraph answer the question if the indicated types of phrases are proper commitments (felicitious performative). As a result of this analyses– in fourth paragraph – the linguistic mechanisms of employee thought appropriation are named and shown.
