Opis:: This article focuses on the discursive representation of scientists engaged in civil disobedience for climate activism in 2022. This question will be examined through the notion of ethos, used in discourse analysis at the enunciative, lexical and discursive level (Amossy 1999, 2010, 2021, Maingueneau 1999, 2014, 2021, Rabatel 2020, Orikibi 2008). First, the discourses of scientist-activists were analyzed (Twitter, media), second The Call for Civil Disobedience, the founding text of the movement. The Scientist Rebellion was relevant to illustrate its collective ethos. It was observed that scientist-activist constructs his ethos on the same discursive strategies that climate activists have adopted to legitimate their arguments.

Opis:: Cet article explore la question de l’èthos dans le Theatre de divers cerveaux du monde, texte écrit en 1583 par Tommaso Garzoni et trois ans plus tard traduit de l’italien en français par Gabriel Chappuys. Le livre est un recueil de discours satiriques, dans lesquels l’auteur loue ou condamne différents types de « cerveaux », c’est-à-dire des traits de caractère. L’èthos, ou autocréation de l’auteur dans l’œuvre, prend une forme très spécifique; ce n’est pas seulement l’homme de lettres qui parle, mais aussi le Théâtre qui s’adresse à ses spectateurs. L’allégorie du théâtre utilisée par Garzoni introduit une dimension satirique, qui devient un outil pour critiquer certaines attitudes. Dans la traduction de Chappuys le livre acquiert une nouvelle dimension, non seulement satirique, comme c’est le cas de l’œuvre italienne, mais aussi morale.
This article explores the question of ethos in Theatre de diverses cerveaux du monde, text written in 1583 by Tommaso Garzoni and three years later translated from Italian into French by Gabriel Chappuys. The book is a collection of satirical speeches, in which the author praises or condemns different types of “brains”, i.e. character traits. The ethos, or the author’s self-creation in the work, takes a very specific form; it is not only the man of letters who speaks, but also the Theatre that appeals to its spectators. The allegory of the theatre used by Garzoni introduces a satirical dimension, which becomes a tool to criticise certain attitudes. In Chappuys’ translation the book acquires a new dimension; not only satirical, as in the Italian work, but also moral.

Opis:: Zmieniają się zasady funkcjonowania nauki, zmieniają się wyobrażenia o jej etycznie akceptowanym modelu. Badacze zajmujący się tymi przemianami twierdzą, że następuje odejście od etosu nauki akademickiej do etosu nauki przemysłowej, „korporacyjnej”. W uchwalonej w 2018 roku przez Sejm Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej nowej ustawie o szkolnictwie wyższym i nauce znacząco inaczej uregulowano funkcjonowanie szkół wyższych. Podstawowym celem artykułu było zbadanie etosu naukowego w Polsce, badania zostały oparte na tekstach nowych statutów przyjętych przez senaty polskich uczelni. W tych dokumentach wyszukano wartości i deklaracje, które wyrażają przekonania władz uczelni o tym, jaki model nauki jest najważniejszy. W badaniach porównaniu poddano dwie grupy uczelni: uczelnie, które uzyskały status uczelni badawczych, oraz uczelnie z Górnośląsko-Zagłębiowskiej Metropolii. Próbowano uzyskać odpowiedzi na pytania: 1) Jakie wartości tworzą deklarowany etos nauki?; 2) Jaka jest ich hierarchia?; 3) W jakim zakresie etosy nauki w obu grupach uczelni są podobne?; 4) Czy etosy nauki zapisane w nowych statutach różnią się od tych, które uczelnie deklarowały wcześniej? W badaniu zastosowano analizę treści dokumentów. Jak pokazują wyniki badań, etos nauki ulega zmianie, a zestaw deklarowanych w analizowanym materiale wartości jest bogaty i zróżnicowany.
The principles that govern the functioning of science and visions of the ethics of scientific research are changing. Many researchers who are examining these changes observe a shift from the academic ethos to the industrial — or “corporate” — ethos. Under the new law on higher education and science, which was passed by the Polish Parliament in 2018, new regulations to the Polish state university system have come into effect. The basic aim of my article has been to examine the scientific ethos in Poland. I based my research on the new statutes adopted by university senates, in which I focused on the value statements and declarations that express the beliefs of university authorities about the most important and desirable model of science. I compared two groups of universities, those which have obtained the status of research universities and colleges from the Upper Silesian Metropolis. My goal was to answer the following questions: 1. What values create the declared ethos of science? 2. What is their hierarchy? 3. To what extent is the ethos of both groups of universities similar? 4. Has the scientific ethos present in the new statutes changed in relation to what was declared earlier? In order to answer these questions, I have applied the technique of document content analysis. My research shows that 1. The ethos of science is changing; 2. The set of declared values in the material under scrutiny is rich and varied.

Opis:: The subject of this study is the ethos of the civil service in Poland. The authors analyze the issue at two levels of: historical and systematic. The main motive for the considerations is the 100th anniversary of the Polish civil service. We ask about the achievements, changes, and direction of further development of the civil service ethos. We propose to look at the development of the ethos starting from the model of a “professional role performer” to the model of the “communication ethos”. Further development of public administration will not change its fundamental direction, however, it should be noted that the importance of the state is emphasized as a guarantor of the stability of social processes, including the role and importance of the civil service.

Opis:: Celem niniejszej pracy licencjackiej było przeanalizowanie stosowania ethosu wojownika, czyli wojskowego programu szkoleniowego, w amerykańskiej branży gier wideo. Pierwszy rozdział tłumaczy pojęcie ethosu, jego pochodzenie oraz współczesne zastosowanie. Wpierw wyjaśnione zostają powody stosowania zabiegu szkolenia żołnierzy z zakresu formuły ethosu oraz narzucania jej twórcom kultury popularnej. Na przykładach z wojny o zatokę z 1991 roku wyjaśniona zostaje koncepcja uwierzytelniania powodów prowadzenia działań wojennych, dzięki narzucanego mediom materiału pokazującego działania wojenne wojsk USA w korzystnym świetle. Pozytywny wizerunek budowany na bazie ethosu wojownika ma również przyczynić się do zwiększenia rekrutacji armii, co zostaje pokazane na przykładach słynnych hollywoodzkich produkcji, na których produkcję wojsko miało ogromny wpływ.Na bazie treści ethosu wojownika, kreda żołnierza USA oraz wartości w nich zawartych, przeanalizowane zostają popularne tytuły gier komputerowych, w celu zaobserwowania wpływu owego ethosu na działania wojenne przedstawione w produkcjach oraz mechaniki obecne w produkcji. Podkreślone zostają różnice w przedstawianiu żołnierzy sił amerykańskich, a wrogich jednostek bojowych.
The main goal of this bachelor thesis was to analyze the usage of the warrior ethos, the military’s training program, in an american video games industry. The first chapter explains the concept of an ethos, its origin and modern usage.The explanation of the reasons for using an advanced training method based on the warrior ethos is the first subject of the second part. Using the examples from the 1991 Gulf War, the work explains the concept of an authenticating the reasons of war, thanks to the positive media coverage enforced by the US military on the journalists. This positive coverage is also supposed to raise the recruitment into the army, which is depicted by the examples of some famous Hollywood productions, that were strongly influenced by the army.Based on the contents of the warrior ethos, the soldier’s creed and the values depicted in them, the work analyzes popular video game series, which helps to notice how influential the ethos is on the mechanics of the game, as well as on the military actions shown in the production. The chapter also underlines the vast differenced in showing american soldiers and enemy forces.

Opis:: Die Inspiration für den Artikel bildet der Versuch von E. Husserl, die Idee des europäischen Rationalismus neu aufzuleben. Schuldig für das Scheitern dieser Idee ist nach Husserl die Loslösung der ratio vom Bereich des alltäglichen Lebens und der Entzug ihrer ethologischen Quelle. Im Artikel versuche ich die Bedeutung dieses ursprünglichen Verhältnisses als der Grundlage für das In-der-Welt-sein sowie existentielle Schlussfolgerungen des Prozesses aufzuzeigen, der von Descartes als eine eigenartige Verödung der ratio infolge einer allmählichen Abkehr von ihrer ursprünglichen Bedeutung im griechischen λόγος angefangen wurde. Der Spur von Husserl nachgehend stelle ich auch die Folgen dieses Prozesses für eine rationale Interpretation der Wirklichkeit vor und formuliere die These, dass die auf einer verarmten Idee der Rationalität aufgebaute Zivilisation wesentliche Interessen des Menschen verkennt, indem sie sein Leben in einer zunehmenden existentiellen Leere ansiedelt.
The article is prompted by Edmund Husserl's attempt to renew the idea of European rationalism. Husserl attributed the failure of the idea to the digression of ratio from the sphere of everyday life, to the loss of its ethical origin. The author attempts to take in the meaning of this source relationship viewed as the basis for being-in-the-world and the existential consequences of the process initiated by Descartes of rendering the ratio barren, in a way, due to the gradual departure from its source meaning present in the Greek word λόγος (logos). Following Husserl , the author also presents the impact of this process on rational interpretation of reality, and formulates the thesis that civilization built on an impoverished idea of rationality touches man’s essential interests, setting his life in an expanding existential emptiness.
Inspiracją dla artykułu jest Husserlowska próba odnowienia idei europejskiego racjonalizmu. Winą za porażkę owej idei Husserl obarczył oderwanie ratio od sfery życia codziennego, pozbawienie go jego ethologicznego źródła. W artykule staram się uchwycić znaczenie tego źródłowego związku jako podstawy bycia-w-świecie oraz egzystencjalne konsekwencje zapoczątkowanego przez Kartezjusza procesu swoistego jałowienia ratio jako następstwa stopniowego odchodzenie od jego źródłowego znaczenia obecnego w greckim λόγος. Idąc tropem Husserla przedstawiam też skutki tego procesu dla racjonalnej interpretacji rzeczywistości oraz formułuję tezę, że cywilizacja zbudowana na zubożonej idei racjonalności zapoznaje istotne interesy człowieka, osadzając jego życie w rozrastającej się egzystencjalnej pustce.

The answer to this questions will allow to find a way, which is going to help modern educators make a return to the world of fundamental values, which justify a sense of pedagogical relationships and also make a choice of educated human being vision.
