Opis:: Celem niniejszej pracy jest przedstawienie technologii VPLS (Virtual Private LAN Services). Zawiera ona omówienie protokołów wykorzystywanych przy zestawianiu połączenia między odległymi końcami sieci klienta poprzez sieć operatora z wykorzystaniem protokołu VPLS. Podane zostały także informacje, za co odpowiedzialne są, w pośredniczeniu w ruchu, poszczególne protokoły oraz jak technologia VPLS sprawia, że pakiety docierają do docelowego hosta. Wyjaśnione zostaje dlaczego, oddalone od siebie urządzenia wydają się być połączone za pomocą jednej sieci LAN. W pracy pokazano także sposób implementacji protokołów na urządzeniach firmy Juniper. Do wykonania konfiguracji wykorzystano urządzenia serii SRX, SRX240. W celu sprawdzenia jak zmiana urządzenia wpływa na funkcjonowanie technologii VPLS, jedno z urządzeń zamieniono na router Juniper serii MX, MX480. Dla obydwóch konfiguracji przeprowadzono testy mające wykazać poprawność działania wprowadzonej konfiguracji oraz porównano konfiguracje na urządzeniach testowanych serii produktów.
The presented bachelor thesis is concerned with the VPLS technology (Virtual Private LAN Services).It contains the overview of the protocols used while connecting geographically dispersed customer’sLAN by VPLS. The work shows why, for customers who implement VPLS, all sites appear to be in the same LAN even though traffic travels across the service provider's network. The work shows the functionalities of the required protocols and implements VPLS on the Juniper Networks devices. The configuration is performed on the SRX Series devices (SRX240), then one of the routers is replaced with the MX Series device (MX480). Both configurations are tested and compared with one another. The VPLS technology works successfully and predictably on both series of devices.

Opis:: Academic writing is based on a pragmatic and neutral approach to all subjects of communicative situations as it needs to be objective. Language assumes adjustment of the subject of the author, topic and expressive means as well as a necessary distance from the addressee. Standards and norms of this style refer to different tools of suppressing subjectivity, eliminate expressivity, especially emotionality, and any negative components. It appears to be a stressful task to a certain extent for an author dealing with humanities. This contribution is aimed at examining mechanisms by which particular types of linguistic works and particular authors deal with the imperative of pragmatic/neutral, respectively. It shows the ways in which they explore accepted or border limits of expressivity in the realm of style of elements of the text.

Opis:: This article concerns two largest Polish-English dictionaries published in the twentieth century, The Kościuszko-Foundation Dictionary: Polish-English (1961) by Kazimierz Bulas, Francis Whitfield, and Lawrence Thomas (1961), and Wielki słownik polsko--angielski [A Great Polish-English Dictionary] (1969) by Jan Stanisławski. Erazm Rykaczewski’s Dokładny słownik polsko-angielski… [A Complete Polish-English Dictionary…] (1851), a key dictionary that appeared in the mid-nineteenth century, was taken into account as a point of reference for comparative purposes. The article is based on two hypotheses, of which the first was verified by applying examples of usage as a research parameter and the other by looking at the dictionaries against the historical background. The analysis reveals that each compiler, as a native speaker of Polish, tried to make up for his imperfect knowledge of English. Faced with obstacles in compiling comprehensive bilingual dictionaries, both Bulas and Stanisławski, therefore, turned to Rykaczewski’s outdated material, modernising it for the sake of the target user. The different types of macrostructure and microstructure employed in both twentieth-century reference works were by no means a novelty, inasmuch as they can be discovered in the history of the Polish-English lexicography.

Opis:: In the article there is a – hermeneutically inspired – reinterpretation of a seminar as a conversatorium. The fundamental argument is that the very form of university education contains a dialectic of translation and reading. But, none of them are possible without listening and the ability to transform what is heard into expressed word. However, the process of the very transformation is actually the translation. At first, the whole idea is illustrated by an etymological preliminary research and some hermeneutic, esp. Gadamerian, inspirations. They lead, then, to a topic of conversatorium to be analysed in the context of translation and hermeneutic dialectics comprehended as a searching for word. Finally, some reflections on education as translation are presented.

Opis:: On the rhetorical power of combining religious and political motives in the analogies and examples used in the sermons inaugurating the parliaments of the pre-partition era The subject of the article are sermons delivered during the inauguration of the Polish Sejms of the pre-partition era. The content and selection of the linguistic means used in these speeches are known from the reports contained in the parliamentary diaries, especially those created in the 18th century. Preachers combined political and religious threads using the form of analogy and example. The former are always aimed at connecting the spheres of the sacred and the profane. Clergy refer to the truths of faith or ethical concepts and categories as well as to the liturgical calendar, and also use polysemy. In turn, the sources of examples are biblical characters and events and the saints of the Catholic Church.

Opis:: Mosty drewniane, jako mało trwałe, znikają z naszych krajobrazów. Jednak można jeszcze spotkać ciekawe konstrukcje takich mostów. Przykładem może być wieloprzęsłowy most przez rzekę Orchon w Mongolii zbudowany z naturalnych pni drewnianych w postaci przemyślanej konstrukcji. Filary osłonięte są drewnianymi izbicami chroniącymi most przed naporem kry lodowej.
Timber bridges, as not durable, disappear from our landscapes. However, it is possible to meet interesting structures of these bridges. Multi span timber bridge over Orchon River in Mongolia may be a good example. It is made of natural timber trunks in a shape of clever structure. Pears are protected by timber starlings against pressure of ice floes.

Tytuł:: Necessity and the physicalist account in Aristotle’s physics : difficulties with the rainfall example

Opis:: The aim of the present article is to consider the shortcomings of the physicalist rainfall example set forth by Aristotle in Physics II.8. I first outline the ancient physicalist account of the coming-to-be of natural organisms and the accompanying rejection of the teleological character of such processes. Then I examine the rainfall example itself. The fundamental difficulty is that rainfall does not appear to have a proper nature. Hence it is not natural in the strict sense and cannot be used in arguments either for or against natural teleology. Rainfall can at most have an end in a weak sense, which makes it inadequate as a paradigm. Furthermore, the physicalist conception of action for an end is itself flawed. I argue that they construe it anthropomorphically and falsely presuppose a symmetry between coming-to-be and ceasing-to-be.

Opis:: Argumentem indukcyjnym w retoryce jest paradygmat (przykład); paradygmat jednak nie polega na przechodzeniu od wielu szczegółowych przypadków do pewnego uogólnienia, czyli uniwersalizacji wszystkich poszczególnych przypadków — jak normalnie w argumentacji z indukcji — lecz jest przejściem od jednego szczegółu do szczegółu innego, podobnego, przy czym wymaganym warunkiem jest to, że jeden i drugi konkretny przypadek należą do tego samego rodzaju. Paradygmat zatem nie jest indukcją w znaczeniu ścisłym, ale wydaje się bardziej spełniać warunki analogii. W artykule zostaje sformułowana teza, że u Arystotelesa występują trzy rodzaje wnioskowań: dedukcja, indukcja i wnioskowanie z przykładu; dla zaprezentowania specyfiki wnioskowania przez paradygmat są także analizowane różne typy wnioskowań, tzn. sylogizm apodeiktyczny, dialektyczny, indukcyjny, aby na tym tle wykazać odrębność wnioskowań przez paradygmat, które wydają się być pewnym rodzajem analogii. Prezentowany więc artykuł jest próbą podania charakterystyki i specyfiki argumentacji przez paradygmat u Arystotelesa w świetle jego Retoryki oraz pism logicznych (Analityki I i Analityki II, Topiki, O dowodach sofistycznych).
The paradigm (example) is an inductive argument in rhetoric. However, the paradigm is not about moving from many specific cases to a certain generalization, i.e. universalization of all individual cases — as it normally happens in inductive argumentation. Instead, it is rather a transition from one detail to another similar one; with the condition being that both specific cases belong to the same type. Therefore, the paradigm is not an induction in the strict sense, but it seems more to meet the conditions of analogy. The article formulates the thesis that Aristotle distinguishes three types of inference: deduction, induction and analogy. In order to demonstrate the specific nature of inference by the paradigm, which seems to be a type of analogy, other types of inferences are also examined, i.e. apodeictic, dialectical, and inductive syllogisms. The article is an attempt to present the characteristics of argumentation by paradigm and show its specific nature in the light of Aristotle’s Rhetoric and his logical writings: Prior Analytics, Posterior Analytics, Topics, and Sophistical Refutations.

Opis:: The instantaneous tangential rigidity (corresponding to the applied horizontal load) of a triguy support with unequal ropes is determined. The differences between the ropes can be due to the different location, both horizontal and vertical, of their anchoring foundations and to the different types of ropes used. The horizontal rigidity of such a support has no general axis of symmetry. Therefore a formula for this rigidity in any direction and a formula for extreme rigidity angles are given in this paper. A notion of the guy’s eigenvalue, standing for the initial tension force above which the guy participates effectively in the support’s rigidity, is introduced. A numerical example is provided.

Opis:: From the moment a person chooses certain religious principles and begins to shape their relationship with God, the development of a religious personality begins. In religious education, authorities and personal models are necessary, and they help a person better understand the need to live according to principles and values. Therefore, in order for a person to grow and mature in their religiosity, they need appropriate authorities and models. Pope Francis in the Apostolic Exhortation entitled “Gaudete et Exsultate. On the call to holiness in the contemporary world” (April 9, 2018) draws special attention to holiness as a category that is not abstract, not impersonal, but true and real. Holiness is always connected with a person; it is a vocation to be an authority and a model that they become for other believers. Saints become true authorities for us and help in educating others. When writing the Exhortation, Pope Francis was aware of the importance of an example in the process of shaping the character of every person and their upbringing. The Holy Father closely links authority as a personal model with the vocation to holiness. Francis understands authority in the catechetical sense. This model is understood as moral perfection, and it is adherence to Christ himself. Therefore, in addition to the persons of Jesus and Mary, there are other authorities and models in Catholic education. We make reference to such people who wanted to imitate Christ as perfectly as possible in their lives. These are the saints, the blessed, as well as people who, by the example of their lives, are worthy of imitation: parents who raise their children; working men and women; sick, elderly people; and consecrated persons. The transmission of appropriate and valuable authorities and models is necessary in the upbringing of not only children and youth, but also adults.
Od momentu, kiedy człowiek wybiera pewne zasady religijne i rozpoczyna kształtować swoje relacje z Bogiem, rozpoczyna się rozwój osobowości religijnej. W wychowaniu religijnym koniecznie potrzebne są autorytety i wzorce osobowe, które pomagają lepiej zrozumieć potrzebę życia według zasad i wartości. Dlatego, aby człowiek wzrastał i dojrzewał w swojej religijności, potrzebuje on odpowiednich autorytetów i wzorów. Papież Franciszek w adhortacji apostolskiej pod tytułem „Gaudete et Exsultate. O powołaniu do świętości w świecie współczesnym” (9 kwietnia 2018 roku) zwraca szczególną uwagę na świętość jako kategorię nie abstrakcyjną, nie bezosobową, ale prawdziwą i realną. Świętość jest zawsze związana z osobą, jest powołaniem do bycia autorytetem oraz wzorem, jakim ona staje się dla innych wierzących. Osoby święte stają się prawdziwymi autorytetami dla nas oraz pomagają w wychowaniu innych osób. Papież Franciszek, pisząc adhortację, zdawał sobie sprawę ze znaczenia przykładu w procesie kształtowania charakteru każdego człowieka oraz jego wychowania. Ojciec święty autorytet jako wzór osobowy ściśle wiąże z powołaniem do świętości. Autorytet rozumie w sensie katechetycznym. Ten wzór jest rozumiany jako doskonałość pod względem moralnym, jest przylgnięciem do samego Chrystusa. Dlatego, oprócz osoby Jezusa i Maryi, w wychowaniu katolickim występują inne autorytety i wzory. Do takich odnosimy osoby, które w swoim życiu chciały jak najdoskonalej naśladować Chrystusa. Są nimi święci, błogosławieni, a także osoby, które przykładem własnego życia są godne naśladowania: rodzice, którzy wychowują własne dzieci; pracujący mężczyźni i kobiety; osoby chore, starsze; konsekrowane. Przekaz odpowiednich i wartościowych autorytetów i wzorców jest konieczny w wychowaniu nie tylko dzieci i młodzieży, ale także człowieka dorosłego.

Opis:: Sejm Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej wskazał wśród patronów roku 2023 Jadwigę Zamoyską (1831–1923), której setna rocznica śmierci przypada w listopadzie tego roku. Spośród wielu zadań, za które jest podziwiana i ceniona, najbliższe i najważniejsze było dla niej wychowanie młodego pokolenia. Patronat roku to inicjatywa, która ma uhonorować, ale też uchronić od zapomnienia osoby, wydarzenia, idee ważne dla Polski i Polaków. Treść artykułu wpisuje się w to zamierzenie. Celem artykułu jest wskazanie uniwersalnych wartości myśli wychowawczej Jadwigi Zamoyskiej. Posłużono się metodą analityczno-syntetyczną. Podstawowe źródło stanowi praca pt. O wychowaniu, w której Jadwiga Zamoyska przedstawiła program wychowania i kształcenia katolickiego. Refleksji poddano wartość integralnego rozwoju człowieka, posłuszeństwa, wzoru, pracy oraz cnoty w wychowaniu. Wartości uniwersalne to takie, które są „ponad” różnicami czasowymi i światopoglądowymi. Sejm Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej wskazał postać i życie Jadwigi Zamoyskiej jako wzór wszystkim Polakom, a nie określonej grupie. Interesujące, czy jest coś aktualnego i wartościowego w tym przekazie dla człowieka bogatszego o ponad sto lat badań naukowych i doświadczeń światowych.
The Sejm of the Republic of Poland named Jadwiga Zamoyska (1831–1923) one of the patrons of 2023. The centenary of her death falls in November of this year. Among the many activities for which she is admired and appreciated, the closest and most important to her was educating the youth. Patronage of the Year is an initiative that is intended to honor, but also to protect from oblivion, people, events, and ideas that are important to Poland and Poles. This text responds to this objective. The aim of the article is to indicate the universal values of Jadwiga Zamoyska’s educational thought. An analytical-synthetic method was used. The basic source is the work titled About Upbringing, in which Jadwiga Zamoyska presented a program for Catholic upbringing and education. The value of integral human development, obedience, role model, work, and virtue in upbringing was reflected upon. Universal values are beyond differences of time and mindset. After all, the Sejm of the Republic of Poland indicated the life of Jadwiga Zamoyska as an example to all Poles, and not to a specific group. It is interesting to wonder whether there is anything current and valuable in this message for humans made richer by over hundred years of worldwide research and experiments.

Opis:: The paper presents the results of numerical studies based on a mathematical model determined by the stress-strain state examination method. Numerical computations for two steel grades, namely H40 and C45, were made at similar strain and process rate parameters. As a result of the studies, the distribution of elastic and plastic zones was obtained, while the tube hollow drawing force was verified experimentally. The distribution of longitudinal, radial and circumferential stresses and, after the drawing operation, the distribution of residual stresses in the tube cross-section were also obtained.

Dopełnieniem refleksji ściśle eklezjologicznej jest zwrócenie uwagi na aspekty antropologii indywidualnej i społecznej, którą znajdujemy w nauczaniu soborowym. W tej ostatniej kwestii chodzi o wskazanie na wzorczość antropologiczną Chrystusa, którą powinien uwzględniać Kościół w pełnieniu swojej misji zbawczej.
The ecclesiology of the Second Vatican Council constitutes invariably a benchmark for every authentic reflection regarding the Church, its mission and the ways of its shaping in perspective of historic development. The teachings of the recent popes draw our attention to the need of referring the Church to Christ as its paradigm. To make this requirement possible to fulfil it is necessary to derive from the teachings of the Second Vatican Council, inquiring how and in what aspects its teaching directs the Church towards the pattern which Jesus Christ defines himself personally. This article tries to provide an answer to this question pointing out, in the first place, the beginning of the Church in Jesus Christ. Thus, in this context it tries to determine in what way and to what extent He is the principle of life of the Church and the example for it. The emphasis on the aspect of individual and social anthropology which can be found in the teachings of the Council is the fulfilment of the strictly ecclesiological reflection. This last issue concentrates on the stressing of the idea of Christ being the anthropological example, which should be included by the Church in the fulfilment of its salutary mission.

Opis:: In this article a survey of studies on scheduling problems with a common due window assignment and earliness/tardiness penalty functions is presented. A due window is a generalization of the classical due date and describes a time interval in which a job should be finished. If a job is completed before or after the due window, it incurs an earliness or a tardiness penalty, respectively. In this survey we separately analyse the classical models with job-independent and job-dependent earliness/tardiness penalty functions and some other more complicated models. We describe the computational complexity of the problems and the main features of the approaches developed to solve them. Particular attention is paid to practical applications of the analysed models. As turns out, some complicated models combining classical scheduling problems with, e.g., learning and aging effects have no reasonable practical justification in the literature.

Opis:: We are interested in the finite element approximation of Coulomb's frictional unilateral contact problem in linear elasticity. Using a mixed finite element method and an appropriate regularization, it becomes possible to prove existence and uniqueness when the friction coefficient is less than C varepsilon2 |log(h)|{-1}, where h and varepsilon denote the discretization and regularization parameters, respectively. This bound converging very slowly towards 0 when h decreases (in comparison with the already known results of the non-regularized case) suggests a minor dependence of the mesh size on the uniqueness conditions, at least for practical engineering computations. Then we study the solutions of a simple finite element example in the non-regularized case. It can be shown that one, multiple or an infinity of solutions may occur and that, for a given loading, the number of solutions may eventually decrease when the friction coefficient increases.

Opis:: The subject of this work is to show a depressed man on the example of William Styron’s clinical case, based on his original work "Darkness Visible". The work introduces the concept of depression - starting with describing its original meaning as melancholy, through showing the forms of expressing depression in art, as well as understanding of the phenomenon of melancholy by Antoni Kępiński, ending on the contemporary approach to the topic of depression. This work also describes the theme of the "dark night" according to St. John of the Cross as an human experience very closely related with depression. The last part of this work, presents the experience of unimaginable feeling of darkness, based on William Styron's individual life story as a case study.
Przedmiotem niniejszej pracy jest ukazanie człowieka znajdującego się w stanie depresji na podstawie przypadku klinicznego William’a Styron’a, w oparciu o jego autorskie dzieło „Darkness Visible”. Praca przybliża pojęcie depresji – począwszy od opisu jej pierwotnego znaczenia jako melancholii, poprzez ukazanie sposobów wyrażania jej w sztuce, a także rozpatrzenie fenomenu melancholii przez Antoniego Kępińskiego, aż do opisu współczesnego spojrzenia na zagadnienie depresji. Praca podejmuje również temat „nocy ciemnej” według św. Jana od Krzyża jako doświadczenia szczególnie bliskiego depresji. Na ostatnim, zasadniczym etapie pracy, przy zastosowaniu indywidualnej historii życia William’a Styron’a jako studium przypadku przedstawiono autentyczny zapis owego doświadczenia niewyobrażalnej ciemności.

Opis:: Presented paper is a part of the cycle of the articles on the faith in St Ambrose’s letters. The second one – presented here – shows interpreters of the faith and those who in the special way are the examples and models of the faith and are responsible for the handing faith down to fellow Christians and to unbelievers. Without a doubt, all believers are obliged to bear witness to the faith, but the bishop of Milan shows in his letters the special groups of the faithful who are in a particular way responsible for the transmission of the faith and must be the models of faith. First of all Ambrose in his letters shows – according to the christian topos – the persons from the Bible and the martyrs as the spacial examples of faith. However, much more attention he pays to contemporary bishops and emperors of the Roman Empire who, according to Ambrose, in a special way are responsible for highlighting and giving an example of faith. In being an example of the Christian faith to others, the most important thing – according to Bishop of Milan – is persisting in its orthodoxy, perseverance in it, and of course observance the moral principles arising from the faith.

The design of double ventilated facades involves the use of two outer glass layers, with a distance between them ranging from around 25 cm to 90 cm or even more.

Fasade is often a showpiece of a building which determines its appearance, particularly in case of particularly decorative and spectacular fasades. An interesting form and colour of the façade often overshadows other architectural elements in modern and historic buildings. Fasade material is one of the elements which properties determine the possibility of achieving the desired effects. Since time immemorial the fasades have been made mostly of stone. Now other materials are coming to the fore, one of them being aluminium and its alloys.

Applicare il principio dell'onnipotenza divina alla risurrezione della carne non costituisce per Metodio una scappatoia insensata, ma un tentativo di assumere, entro i confini di una razionalita alimentata dai dati della fede cristiana, un elemento che, seppur comprensibile per la ragione, tuttavia la supera.

W branży drogowej opisano wykonanie tzw. inteligentnego oznakowania poziomego dróg przy użyciu materiału luminescencyjnego. Przedstawione rozwiązania projektowe zostały już zrealizowane.
This paper presents untypical types of construction works. For civil engineering and construction trade, the article describes: the method of supporting existing wooden roof framework using steel trusses in order to replace the load-bearing structure supporting that framework, the method of reinforcing the pillar (made after a hole in the brick wall have been knocked out), the method of fastening operating lamps in the clinic to an existing Ackermann’s ceiling without straining that ceiling. For road construction trade, the article describes construction of the so-called intelligent horizontal road marking using a luminescent material. The design solutions presented in the paper have already been carried out.

Opis:: Recent studies show that deep neural networks (DNNs) are extremely vulnerable to elaborately designed adversarial examples. Adversarial training, which uses adversarial examples as training data, has been proven to be one of the most effective methods of defense against adversarial attacks. However, most existing adversarial training methods use adversarial examples relying on first-order gradients, which perform poorly against second-order adversarial attacks and make it difficult to further improve the robustness of the model. In contrast to first-order gradients, second-order gradients provide a more accurate approximation of the loss landscape relative to natural examples. Therefore, our work focuses on constructing second-order adversarial examples and utilizing them for training DNNs. However, second-order optimization involves computing the Hessian inverse, which typically consumes considerable time. To address this issue, we propose an approximation method that transforms the problem into optimization within the Krylov subspace. Compared with the Euclidean space, the Krylov subspace method typically does not require storing the entire matrix. It only needs to store vectors and intermediate results, avoiding explicitly calculating the complete Hessian matrix. We approximate the adversarial direction by a linear combination of Hessian-vector products in the Krylov subspace to reduce the computation cost. Because of the non-symmetrical Hessian matrix, we use the generalized minimum residual to search for an approximate polynomial solution of the matrix. Our method efficiently reduces computational complexity and accelerates the training process. Extensive experiments conducted on the MNIST, CIFAR-10, and ImageNet-100 datasets demonstrate that our adversarial learning using second-order adversarial samples outperforms other first-order methods, leading to improved model robustness against various attacks.

Artykuł oparty jest na badaniach własnych in situ w ramach wyjazdów studialnych, których celem była analiza wybranych obiektów z elementami zieleni umieszczonymi na elewacjach. Jako przykłady wybrano 4 obiekty hotelowe zlokalizowane w centrum miasta Singapur: The Capitol Kempinski Hotel, Parkroyal Collection, Oasia i Pan Pacific.
One of the measures that can significantly improve urban living conditions is the transformation of increasing the amount of green space in cities. Plants have an impact on lowering temperatures in cities. One feasible solution is to introduce greenery on buildings, in the form of green roofs and green walls. Singapore refers to itself as a garden city. The tropical climate of the rainforest is conducive to the development of lush vegetation, the creation of green public spaces in the form of parks, gardens and buildings with green elements on facades, incorporated green walls, green intensive roofs, whole green facades and even entirely covered with vegetation. The article is based on own in-situ research within the framework of study tours, the aim of which was to analyze selected buildings with green elements placed on facades. Four hotel facilities located in downtown Singapore were selected as examples: The Capitol Kempinski Hotel, Parkroyal Collection, Oasia and Pan Pacific.

The author of this article analyses the moral issues connected with Mary in encyclicals of Popes Benedict XVI and Francis. The nature of the issues raised in those documents points to the necessity of giving priority in the contemporary praxis of life and theology to theological virtues, also in their social dimension. In this context, Mary constitutes an example of morality brought to perfection due to her openness to the Word of God and the grace of the Holy Spirit.
