Opis:
To yield energy from the low-voltage power source such as a photovoltaic panel or a fuel cell it is necessary to connect it with step-up DC/DC converter. Among many step-up topologies there are two basic types of converters: ones with and ones without galvanic isolation. Although both types provide voltage gain thanks to the turns ratio of transformer or coupled inductor, electrical isolation in some applications is essential. This paper presents an isolated DC/DC flyback converter using an active clamp and dual series resonance circuits. The converter operates as an isolated voltage amplifier with a voltage gain B dependent on duty cycle D and input voltage Vin. Through the use of transistors with low drain to source resistance RDS(on) conduction losses of main transistor switch can be reduced. The reverse recovery current of output rectifier can be omitted thanks to resonant tank consisted of transformer leakage inductance and voltage doubler capacitors. Active clamp circuit allows the energy transfer to the load in the two stages as in the forward converter. The 2-kW flyback converter simulation model was developed. Input voltage Vin varied from 12V to 48V and output voltage above 330V needed for 1-phase DC to AC conversion was achieved. Maximum converter efficiency was 92.3%.

Opis:
Large-signal input characteristics of three DC–DC converter types: buck, boost and flyback working in the continuous conduction mode (CCM), obtained by simulations and measurements are investigated. The results of investigations are presented in the form of the analytical formulas and the exemplary results of the measurements and two forms of simulations: based on the full description of the converter components and on the averaged models. The parasitic resistances of the converter components are included in the simulations and their influence on the simulation results is discussed.

Opis:
Micro resistance welding is the most common technology for making permanent connection between two conducting materials. This paper proposes a high-efficiency charging device for the capacitive energy storage within the micro resistance welding device power supply utilizing a Flyback converter. Based on the comprehensive analysis of charging device losses, it is determined that one of the main sources of conduction losses in the charging device is the output diode. In order to ameliorate this problem, utilization of a MOSFET transistor as an output diode within the Flyback converter is proposed in order to increase its overall efficiency. The presented results suggest that the proposed Flyback converter topology could improve the power efficiency by 7.0% at 50 kHz switching frequency through minimization of conduction losses in comparison with the traditionally-used Schottky diode.

Opis:
This paper presents preliminary thermographic measurements and a simple thermal analysis of power losses in high-frequency (H-F) transformers used in AC-DC power converters. The analysis is based on complex thermal impedance and time constant distribution. The main aim of this research was to consider quantitatively the contribution of different power losses in the H-F transformer, including fringing flux effect.

Opis:
The main topic of the paper is the large signal averaged model of a switch-mode flyback power converter. The use of the large-signal averaged models of switching converters allows for fast simulation of power systems. The known averaged models of a flyback are based on the state-space averaging or switch-averaging approach. The model presented in the paper is derived with the use of the separation of variables approach and include parasitic resistances of all converter components. The limitations of the model accuracy are discussed. The calculations based on the averaged model are compared with detailed full-wave simulations and measurements results.

Opis:
Small-signal transmittances of the power stage of a flyback converter in continuous conduction mode are derived on the averaged model obtained by the separation of variables approach. The precise knowledge of these transmittances is necessary in the design process of the converter control circuit. Apart from mathematical formulas for transmittances, the numerical calculations of the frequency dependencies of the transmittances for the assumed set of the converter parameters are presented with the parasitic resistances of components taken into account. The results of the calculations are compared with the measurements performed on the laboratory model of the converter and a good consistency is observed. It is concluded, that the results of the paper may be useful in the designing process of a control circuit of the flyback converter.
