Opis:: The article deals with the essence of theoretic and experimental check of author’s andragogical model of development of foreign language communicative competence of lecturers of higher military educational institutions into educational process. The definition of “foreign language communicative competence” and its structure is proposed by author. The article reveals the main stages of experiment of foreign language communicative competence development. The results of pedagogical experiment on development foreign language communicative competence were presented and substantiated with help of Fisher F-test. The efficiency of the andragogical model was statistically proved.

Opis:: W artykule poruszono problemy związane z główną treścią definicji obcojęzycznej kompetencji językowej na podstawie badań przeprowadzonych w szkole. Artykuł został poświęcony studiom nad historią i aktualnym stanem problemu nauczania języka obcego. Opiera się na badaniach naukowych, towarzyszą mu podstawy teoretyczne. Tekst podsumowuje proces określania kompetencji komunikacyjnej i kompetencji leksykalnej jako części składowej, który rozpoczął się pod koniec lat sześćdziesiątych. Artykuł zawiera opracowanie kilku językowych konkluzji na temat komunikatywnej kompetencji językowej. Przedstawiono szereg ważnych definicji i strukturę kompetencji komunikacyjnej. Ten artykuł zawiera definicję „kompetencji”, „obcojęzycznej kompetencji językowej”, „obcojęzycznej kompetencji leksykalnej”. Zaproponowane definicje wskazują na to, że na poziomie średniego wykształcenia obcojęzyczna kompetencja leksykalna ucznia jest definiowana jako jego zdolność poznawcza, praktyczna, motywacyjna, refleksyjno-behawioralna. Aktywność leksykalna oparta jest na opanowaniu określonego słownictwa w pewnym okresie wiekowym oraz na odpowiednim wykorzystaniu leksemów, właściwym użyciu wyrażeń figuratywnych, idiomów. Badanie kończy się pokazaniem najważniejszych osobliwości obcojęzycznej kompetencji leksykalnej uczniów na poziomie szkoły.
The paper covers problems related to the basic content of the definition of foreign language lexical competence (FLLC) and in particular the FLLC of middle school students. It surveys the history and the current state of the problem in recent foreign language (FL) teaching. The article is based on research studies and followed by the theoretical background. It presents in brief the process of defining communicative competence (CC) and lexical competence (LC) as its counterpart which started in the late 1960s. The paper describes the development of some linguistic findings on communicative language competence. Several important definitions and a framework of CC are presented. This paper contains the definitions of “competence,” “FL competence,” “FLCC,” “FLLC.” The proposed definition suggests that FLLC of a student of the middle educational level is defined as his or her cognitive, practical, motivational, reflexive-behavioral ability. FL lexical activity is based on the acquisition of a certain lexicon within the age period, adequate use of lexemes, the appropriate use of figurative expressions, phraseological units. The study concludes by highlighting the main features of the FLLC of students in the middle stage of learning a FL.

Speaking more than one language involves the formation of a foreign language communicative competence. This problem requires a review of government and universities policy on planning and forming of language communicative competence among students of advanced training courses.

Opis:: The functioning of the Polish language in higher education institutions in the Donetsk region of South–Eastern Ukraine is the main focus of our research. The history of the study of Polish in the region is analysed, in particular at the Donbas State Pedagogical University, where Polish has been taught since 2020. The main problems facing the development of Polish language study in the region and higher education institutions are examined, and the prospects for promoting the development of Polish language study are outlined.

Analizowana jest historia nauki języka polskiego w tym regionie, w szczególności w Państwowym Uniwersytecie Pedagogicznym Donbasu, gdzie język polski jest nauczany od 2020 roku. Przeanalizowano główne problemy stojące przed rozwojem nauki języka polskiego w regionie i instytucjach szkolnictwa wyższego oraz nakreślono perspektywy promowania rozwoju nauki języka polskiego.

Opis:: Over the last few years, the global academic community has been wondering about the possibility and efficiency of using artificial intelligence technologies in the educational process in general, and in the process of teaching foreign languages in particular. Among the theorists and practitioners in the field of education there appeared both ardent supporters of the use of these technologies, and strong opponents of this idea. Our experimental study proved the efficiency of artificial intelligence technologies in the process of the formation of foreign language communicative competence of students of non-linguistic specialties of higher educational institutions. At the same time, we emphasize that the role of the teacher in the process of organizing the educational process remains fundamental, whereas his/her additional tasks in modern conditions include a careful selection of artificial intelligence technologies, creation of a set of exercises based on their application, which should contribute to the formation of professional competencies of students.

Opis:: This paper outlines selected results of a glottodidactic study conducted at the Bioimaging Research Center in Kajetany (Poland) using fMRI. The aim of the study was to compare, from the neurolinguistic point of view, selected language activities: retrieving a list of previously memorized words and phrases, retrieving previously memorized short texts, and creating a spontaneous oral statement in a foreign language (L2), in order to assess their potential impact on the development of communicative competence of L2-learners. The study is aimed at answering the following question: the processing of which kind of linguistic information, i.e. in the form of individual phrases or in the form of a text, is more similar to the act of spontaneous speech from the neurobiological perspective. It was assumed that the activity which is more similar to such speech act will probably be more conducive to the development of students' communication skills in the process of learning a foreign language. The results of the study demonstrate that work with a coherent text in foreign language learning and teaching can be more beneficial than working with lists of separate words or phrases.

Opis:: В статье рассматривается понятие и содержание иноязычной коммуникативной компетентности студентов ВУЗов неязыковых специальностей. Целью обучения иностранному языку в высших учебных заведениях является овладение иностранным языком как средством коммуникации, так и приобретения профессионально направленной иноязычной компетентности для успешного выполнения дальнейшей профессиональной деятельности. Обучение иностранному языку будущих специалистов должно рассматриваться как цель дальнейшей профессиональной деятельности. Одной из важных задач обучения профессиональному иностранному языку является формирование специализированной компетенции в сферах профессионального и ситуативного общения, овладения новой профессиональной информацией через иностранные источники.
The article discusses the concept and content of foreign language communicative competence of students of non-language specialties universities. The purpose of foreign language teaching in higher education is to master a foreign language as a medium of communication and the acquisition of a professional orientation of foreign language competence for successful implementation of future professional activities. Learning a foreign language of future specialists should be considered through the prism of their future professional activities. An important task of learning a foreign language in professional direction is the formation of a specialized expertise in the areas of professional and situational communication, mastering the new professional information through foreign sources.
W artykule omówiono koncepcję i treści komunikacyjnej kompetencji języka obcego studentów specjalności nie-lingwistycznych. Celem nauczania języków obcych w szkolnictwie wyższym jest opanowanie języka obcego umożliwiającą komunikację na średnim poziomie i nabycie orientacji zawodowej znajomości języków obcych dla pomyślnej realizacji przyszłych działań zawodowych. Nauka języka obcego przyszłych specjalistów powinna być traktowana przez pryzmat przyszłej działalności zawodowej. Ważnym zadaniem nauki języka obcego w kierunku zawodowym jest utworzenie specjalistycznej wiedzy w dziedzinie komunikacji zawodowej i sytuacyjnej, opanowanie nowych informacji zawodowych ze źródeł zagranicznych.

Tytuł:: Elements of the intercultural approach in the latest course books for teaching Polish as a foreign language : analysis

Opis:: Interculturality is one of the paradigms of modern foreign language teaching. Intercultural teaching is also in the center of attention in Polish glottodidactics. The objective of this article is to present the results of an analysis of the most recent course books for teaching Polish as a foreign language in the context of included elements of the intercultural approach. For the purpose of the article ten course books issued after 2010 have been analyzed and three of them - those with the highest potential to integrate language and (inter)cultural content - have been described in detail. Exercises/tasks including any type of references to the broadly understood term "culture" have been chosen as the analysis units. As part of the analysis it has been investigated, which components of Michael Byram’s intercultural communicative competence can be developed with those exercises/tasks, but also if there are potential intercultural teaching areas, i.e. perception training, developing strategy of appropriate interpretation, developing the ability to compare cultures, or the ability to communicate in intercultural situations.
