Opis:
The paper attempts to systematise the diverse views on globalisation by introducing several classificatory criteria. The author discusses the levels of globalisation, e.g., macroeconomic, sectoral, microeconomic, and household levels. Presented are views expressed by macroeconomists, finance specialists, and management theorists. They represent different, sometimes contradictory, attitudes to globalisation and its effects: positive, negative or neutral. One of the chapters provides an analysis of the impact of globalisation on strategy theories.

Opis:
Young Muslim women are coming under an increasing influence of globalisation processes and follow global trends, which also includes fashion. This entails a certain balancing act between being modern and being religious. The author of the present paper attempts to address the question whether the hijab may be considered a Muslim answer to globalisation through its presence within the so-called “hijab fashion,” or that perhaps, to the contrary, it constitutes a symbol of a growing isolation and separation of Muslim minorities inhabiting the countries of western Europe.

Opis:
Transportation is essential for the functioning of the economy since mobility greatly supports growth and job creation. The transport sector in the EU employs about 10 million people and provides approximately 5% of the GDP. The efficiency of the transport systems is a prerequisite for competitiveness and significantly affects the quality of life of people. Logistics plays a key role in terms of sustainable and competitive mobility in Europe and other objectives, such as a cleaner environment, security of energy supply, and widely available transport facilities. The use of safe and environmentally friendly vehicles is the main priority of all modes of transportation. The key changes include alternative fuels, new materials, new propulsion systems as well as information technology and traffic management techniques. The organization of the transportation of raw materials and finished products within and outside the EU depends on the efficient operation of logistic networks. This is primarily an industrial activity and creating the right framework conditions is the responsibility of the relevant authorities. In my study I analysed the situation of logistics in Europe and in Hungary. In order to exploit the benefits and to avoid the disadvantages of globalization the European Union implements structural changes which I describe and analyse. Considering the EU and Hungary this paper covers the following areas: − The effects of globalisation, − The climate-, energy-, and environment protection policy of the EU and their connection to logistics, − Tendencies in the changes of the transport sector, − The possible changes in passenger and freight transport, − The characteristics of the infrastructure and the requirements for its development, − Future prospects of logistics. On the basis of my examinations I will draw conclusions and offer suggestions regarding modifications in areas I consider most problematic.

Generally idea of united Europe has to guarantee peace and stabilization on it territory. At what there is dispute in aspect of stated of this territory. It notices itself, that borders of Europe wasn’t definite; it treats this particularly it concerns eastern border, which was movable. Trying to show borders of Europe usually it calls itself three conceptions. First from cancellation oneself to empire of Charles Great. Ruler that created monarchy in conditions of threat expansion of Arabs. That notion came into being European also, which fighting knights with Arabias invasions on Pyrenean Peninsula were defined. Heirs of Great Charles, Ottons, divided own territory on four large regions: Italy, Germany, Gaul and Sclavinia. Eastern border came to river Elbe: with run of years Otton’s territory included Hungary, Czech Republic, Poland. Second conception was built on so-called eastern schisms from 16th July of 1054 year. Christian world divided (orthodox) and western (roman catholic onto eastern order, called also catholic). Line of division ran resource from Adriatic to Danube, existing in XX century called state Yugoslavia; on Balkans they be shaped then Slavic communities; Serbians as well as Bulgarians tied with Orthodox Church, Slovenians and Croats with Catholicism. Alongside with Christianization civilization border shifted beyond Danube reaching for Arctic borders of continent. In Catholic circle there were Hungarians, western Slavs (Czechs, Slovaks, poles), Balts, Estonians and Finns; meanwhile in circle of order orthodox church found themselves Romanians and eastern Slavs (Ukrainians, Byelorussian).2 Russian diplomatist Wasilij Tatiszew on beginning XVIII age advanced third conception, recognizing mountains and river Ural for eastern border of Europe; he showed, that one should Russia to Europe.

The processes of globalization form and direct interaction and development of European languages in the modern world. So, globalization takes out the English language into the first place in the world: about 400 mln people, living in the USA, Great Britain, Canada, Australia and New Zealand consider it their naitive language. Besides, about 1,5 mld people use English as their second and third language. But in Europe the German language takes the first place. In modern linguistics a great interest is constantly increasing towards intercultural communication. The main tasks of which are the following: prevention of communicative failures and speech conflicts in the process of intercultural contacts, transmission from one language into another, linguocultural concept, because becoming proficient in the linguo-conceptual sphere (the culture of a studying language) is the final and the most important stage in mastering a foreign language

Opis:
In the teaching of John Paul II’s the need of solidarity globalization is particularly stressed out as well as that of humanization of globalization processes. With the aim of doing it, one should be guided by unchanging social values: the truth, freedom, justice, solidarity, subsidiarity, love. The globalization has two faces: ▪ the benefits which it brings to the world, individual countries and its main beneficiaries, that is international corporations. ▪ negative effects which the developing countries and all people of the world experience (climatic changes, emission of harmful substances, drug addiction, moral nihilism, gradual decrease of human importance). It happens that complex processes caused by economical globalization make their way towards changing a human being into an element of a market, a bartered good or a factor devoid of meaning for decisive choices. As a consequence, a person may feel annihilated by impersonal mechanisms on a world’s scale and may gradually lose his own identity and personal dignity.

Hipsters and coffeehouses in the post-modern times : Polish fashionistas influenced by English

Opis:
Keeping up with the rapid civilization development, the Polish language of the post-modern times evolves faster than before. So expanding a language reflects new social and cultural trends. Linguistic behaviours are easy to grasp within certain subcultures. English, as lingua franca of the present serves as a communication tool not only for native speakers, but also for people speaking English as a foreign language (“the Expanding Circle”, KACHRU 1992). Using English words and expressions in everyday communication has become a growing tendency in Poland. Such a phenomenon can be observed among hipsters, the representatives of the post-modern society of the globalisation times, heavily marked with consumerism, individualism and cultural commodification. This subculture sets new trends (P “trendsetting”) which are understood as a specific lifestyle – non-mainstream (P “niemainstreamowa”) art of life and off-culture (P “off-kultura”), as well as a vintage and old-school dress (P “oldskulowe Ray-Bany” etc.). Such incorporation of English into Polish is influenced by the admiration for the SL culture. It is also the linguistic reflection of both globalisation and trendsetting. The aforementioned borrowings are noteworthy and may serve as a rich source of analysis.

Europa na przecięciu kultur : jednostka w europejskiej przestrzeni : "Kod nieznany" Michel Haneke i "Noi Albinoi" Dagur Kári

Bogunia-Borowska, Małgorzata
Opis:
The dream of a united community - Europe without wars came true in the twentieth century. However, there remain a lot of questions, which concern everyday life of ordinary people who have to confront the advantages and disadvantages of new European situations. What challenges they face and whether the Europeans are at all happy? Do they have a sense of security? Does their existence in various parts of a united community created a space of freedom or restriction? What is the Europe of many cultures? Does the average European experience of macroprocesses such as globalization, consumerism, global expansion of the coalition, and global crises, migration of people and culture of confrontation? The great European film director like Michael Haneke and Dagur Kari also pose such important questions. They are posing questions about the current state and future of the united European community. They touch the difficult and uncomfortable issues like the limitation to freedom and enslavement of the individual. They ask about the mechanisms that make people’s lives spinning out of control. They pose questions about current threats, as well as the aspirations of modern Europeans. They attempt to try to look at the problems of Europe from the perspective of individuals. Europe is not only the institutions, organizations, politics or economics. Europe is above all people. People who in their everyday lives must confront their own dreams and imaginations of the European world with what they encountered in practice. The text presents the diagnosis of Europe from the perspective of a man who inhabited it seen through the eyes of representatives of European cinema.

Opis:
This article investigates the rise of populism in Poland, applying an interdisciplinary method, with political, social, and economic factors as the compound reason for the turn from liberalism towards populism. The methodology of the study is the exploratory analysis of research, historical materials on Poland`s transition to capitalism, and calculation of the selected empirical data of household incomes, linked to election results, in the regional cross-section. The household economic condition was validated by a report on deprivation and the presented growth of households’disposable income, exposing regional differences between the selected voivodeships. The populist party Law and Justice (PiS) won the two last elections, with the majority of votes in low-income regions, which proved the hypothesis that economic inequality, amplified by globalisation and transition disparities were the main reasons for populism’s prevalence. The democratic backsliding has not changed party-political scenery for very long, which revealed that for the majority of Polish voters, economic upgrading counted more, despite the violation of democracy. Therefore, the advance of knowledge about measures to reduce the in-country socioeconomic disparities between regions has become more important.

Opis:
International economic integration, or globalisation, has a long history, dating from the Medieval period; the establishment and later extension of the European Union is part of this process. It is argued that EU membership has brought undoubted advantages, such as support for agriculture and for regions of high unemployment, and the removal of tariffs against Polish goods, but the huge changes experienced by Poland date from the introduction of the market economy in 1989, not from EU membership. The market economy is synonymous with globalisation, which is so powerful that countries are forced to adapt to it, and make changes within this framework. There have been changes since 2004, the most important of which is mass emigration to the UK, Ireland, Germany and Spain, but it is thought that this movement is only short-term, since most Poles intend to return to Poland, having accumulated capital. It is too soon to be able to establish the full impact of EU membership. It seems that a much longer period must be allowed to elapse before it is possible to assess the value of EU membership to Poland. But in any case, it is clear that Poland has become part of the globalisation and economic integration process – something that will be emphasised owing to membership of the EU.
