Opis:
At the turn of the 20th century a rapid development of the tourism colonization space in the Medina of Marrakesh began, which consisted mostly of the conversion of historical dwelling houses into private residential hotels or guest houses. The aim of the article is to present a thorough study of the progressive changes in the distribution of quantitative features of the guest houses in various parts of this old town. The cartographical method was utilised, using maps presenting the localization of the guest houses and the average accommodation capacity indicator for buildings in various quarters of the Medina. The distribution of particular features is compared for selected years (1999, 2002, 2005 and 2008). Furthermore, the article engages in polemics with the remarks of other authors dealing with the subject, concerning the distribution of the guest houses and conditions of changes in the aforementioned process.

W czasach, kiedy dalekie podróże stały się ogólnodostępne, a na rynku wciąż rośnie popyt na usługi uzupełniające, hotele wykształciły nowe stanowisko pracy, jakim jest guest relations. Celem pracy jest ukazanie specyfiki tego zawodu, jego roli w obsłudze ruchu turystycznego oraz wpływu na jakość usług świadczonych w hotelach. Słuszność wyboru zagadnienia potwierdza dotychczasowy brak publikacji oraz badań naukowych na ten temat. Zebrane informacje wskazują, iż istnieją dwa główne czynniki determinujące zapotrzebowanie na tego typu pracowników. Pierwszy z nich to działania hotelu mające na celu dotarcie do każdego gościa, przełamanie bariery językowej oraz dbanie o jego dobre samopoczucie. Drugim jest chęć podniesienia rangi obiektu i kreowanie jego elitarnego wizerunku. Działania te świadczą o zmianie kierunku rozwoju turystyki z masowej na indywidualną, a także o coraz większym znaczeniu turystyki luksusowej.

Opis:
Westworld is a science fiction series that proposes a theme park of the future where ‘guests’ can live a Wild West experience without restrictions or reprisals, thanks to reallooking android ‘hosts’ who grant all their wishes. Due to the topic covered, this science fiction series allows its use as a common thread for an article that considers the concept of hospitality, the host-guest relationship and its consequence for the management of tourist destinations. This is achieved through an exegesis of Westworld and an analysis of academic bibliography. First, different concepts of hospitality and what they imply for the host-guest relationship are identified. Subsequently, how different theoretical developments on the resident-tourist relationship are proposed entailing different interpretations and reactions to the same objective reality. In conclusion, it should be noted that when tourism is perceived as subordinating the host to the wishes of the guest (as in Westworld), the appearance of anti-tourism attitudes among residents is only a matter of time, generating conflicts. Furthermore, the importance of dominant interpretive theories in determining the reaction of the local population to events that occur should be highlighted.

Opis:
The aim of this article is to identify the key factors of differential pricing and its impact on perceived service quality and guest satisfaction. Great attention has been given by researchers to service quality and guest satisfaction in the tourism and hotel industry. This study however examines an integrated model of differential pricing, perceived service quality and guest satisfaction linked to value perception and satisfaction among guests for prices offered at the time of room booking, and the services available during their stay. A self-administered questionnaire was given to guests who stayed in mid-scale hotels and 334 responses were collected randomly. Structural equation modelling was used to examine the data set, a second-generation method that enables simultaneous modelling of a large number of independent and dependent variables. Partial least square SmartPLS 4.0 was used to evaluate the data. The measurement model and the structural model are the two used to examine the data. According to survey results and findings, booking channel and booking volume are significantly related to guest satisfaction. Additionally, the booking channel has a significant relationship with perceived service quality. Maintaining high-quality websites is crucial to attracting visitors and keeping them, eventually leading to more people using travel websites out of loyalty.

The article is an attempt to present the quality of customer service as one of the basic elements determining success of a contemporary hotel. In the study the essence and kinds of hotel guest service have been discussed with particular emphasis on all activities whose aim is to persuade a guest to use services offered by the hotel. The electron-rich cavity of carboxylated pillar[5]arene efficiently encapsulates cationic guest molecules within supramolecular assemblies. In this study we provide evidence of the host-guest complexation between carboxylated pillar[5]arene and benzamidine, a competitive inhibitor of serine proteases. We show the unexpected inclusion of the polar amidinium functionality within the central cavity of the macrocyclic host sustained by N+-H⋅⋅⋅π and cation⋅⋅⋅π interactions. In addition to the incavity complexation, simultaneous external binding of bipyridinium guests with varying stoichiometries has been observed. The interesting aspect is the inclusion of a hydrogen bonded pair of 1,2-bis(4-pyridyl)ethylene guests into pillar[5]arene cavity. Additional insights into inclusion characteristics are provided by NMR and ion mobility mass spectrometry (IM-MS) studies, offering information for the solution/gas phase and enabling a comprehensive description of the complexation process across different phases. This work expands the portfolio of cationic guest molecules capable of being encapsulated by carboxylated pillar[5]arene, showing new promises and directions for their inclusion and self-assembly behavior.

W fundamentalnej dla przyszłości Europy dyskusji na temat zjawiska masowej migracji ludności z Bliskiego Wschodu i Afryki północnej ważkim argumentem stały się fragmenty z Biblii. Już sam fakt, że środowiska najczęściej lewicowe i niechętnie lub wręcz wrogo odnoszące się do religii posługują się argumentami religijnymi każe spojrzeć na sprawę ze szczególną uwagą i wyjątkowo poważnie rozważać prezentowane argumenty. Fragmenty odnoszące się do przyjmowania obcych/przybyszów pochodzą w dużej części z ksiąg Starego Testamentu. Warto więc przeanalizować je w kontekście całości nauczania Biblii hebrajskiej na problem norm dotyczących obcych i przybyszów. Autor przytacza 12 fragmentów bezpośrednio odnoszonych do problemu przyjmowania lub nieprzyjmowania uchodźców (Wj 22,20; 23,9.12; Kpł 19,33–34; Pwt 1,16; 10,18–19; 24,14; Ml 3,5; Iz 1,17; Za 7,10; Jr 7,6–7; Hi 31,32, Ps 146,6 oraz przykłady gościnności wobec obcych takie jak wizyta aniołów u Abrahama i Lota, gościna Lewity u starca w Gibea). Teksty te pochodzą z różnych okresów historii Izraela i z różnych tradycji teologicznych, mogłyby być więc traktowane jako reprezentatywne dla nauczania Biblii hebrajskiej w tym temacie. Nie jest to jednak obraz kompletny, a jedynie nakazy i normy odnoszące się do obcego określanego terminem ger i konsekwentnie tłumaczonego przez „obcy” bardzo często w liczbie mnogiej. Analiza znaczenia tego pojęcia, zasadności używania w tłumaczeniach liczby mnogiej (kiedy w oryginale jest pojedyncza) oraz uzupełnienie powyższego zestawienia o inne terminy używane w BH na określenie obcych czy przybyszów prowadzi do zaskakujących wniosków.
Fragments of the Bible have recently became an important argument in the discussion about the attitude that should be adopted by Europeans referring their the Judeo-Christian roots with reference to refugees/immigrants from Africa and the Middle East. Considering that the quoted texts are mainly from the Old Testament, it is worth looking more closely at what the Hebrew Bible actually says about the postulated attitude of the Israelites, and especially their rulers to the strangers and newcomers. Author analyses within a broader biblical context 12 fragments of the Hebrew Bible (Exod 22:20; 23:9.12, Lev 19:33–34, Deut 1:16, 10:18–19; 24:14, Mal 3:5; Isa 1:17; Zech 7:10, Jer 7:6–7; Job 31:32, Psa 146:6) and some examples of hospitality described on Bible’s cards (visit of angels at Abraham and Lot, and Levite's visit at an old man in Gibeah). Author excerpts texts covering status and duties of guests in Israel, duties of Israelites and their rulers in the face of a danger from foreign peoples and examples of dealing with strangers other than wanderers, proselytes or guests (understood as individuals). In the texts of the Hebrew Bible, there is a clear distinction between single travellers, strangers who seek a better life, respecting Israeli law or customs and submit to them, and those who either threaten Israel or dissuade Israelites from purity of faith.
