Opis:
This paper presents a microelectronic emulation approach for high-speed power system computation. First, the problems of existing power system simulators are detailed. This shows that microelectronic emulation is a possible solution for solving the speed problems of existing simulators. Second, this paper presents one specific emulation approach, the so-called AC emulation approach. The ultimate objective of the AC emulation approach is the realization of a power system emulator which reproduces simultaneously a large number of phenomena of different time constants or frequencies with a much higher speed than real time. Frequency dependence of the elements is preserved and the signals propagating in the emulated network are the shrunk or downscaled current and voltage waves of the real power network. The models of the power network components are detailed. Special attention is paid to the generator model which was shown to introduce a systematic error. This systematic error is quantified, analyzed and optimized. Moreover behavioral simulation results confirm the feasibility of this approach which in turn lays the foundation for such an emulator.

Opis:
This paper deals with an advanced modeling of the feed drives of a five axis machine tool within the context of High Speed Machining. The management of the multi axes as well as high velocities causes problems to the set machine tool – Numerical Controller throughout the trajectory execution process. As a result, many errors are introduced during machining all process long affecting the surface quality. The paper aims at modeling the feed drive dynamics during trajectory follow-up including the current, the velocity and position loops as well as the feed forward terms, which characterize classical drives on actual HSM machines. It concerns translational axes as well as rotary axes. A procedure of identification of the virtual axis model are detailed for three and five axis trajectories presenting various types of geometrical discontinuities.

Based on the finite element simulation software ANSYS Workbench, this study reports the thermal characteristics of a high-speed motorized spindle. The temperature field distribution and axial thermal deformation of the motorized spindle are then detected on an experimental platform. A comparison between the experimental and simulation results revealed the temperature rise of the motorized spindle during the working process. Under steady-state conditions of the working motorized spindle, the temperatures of the front bearing, rear bearing and stator were determined as 20°C, approximately 30°C and 25°C, respectively. The axial thermal elongation of the motorized spindle is approximately 10 μm

Opis:
The paper presents a methodology of finite element (FE) modelling and simulation of the bridge – track – moving high-speed train system using CAE systems. Two composite (reinforce-concrete – steel) bridges were considered. The span length was equal to 15 and 21 meters, respectively. Bridges selected for the study belong to the proposed series of bridges with the span length of 15 to 27 meters stepped by 3 meters. Full symmetry of the bridges was assumed. RC platform was homogenized since the rebars were distributed quasi-uniformly in the specified platform sections. The FE model of a bridge superstructure consisted of 4-node shell elements (main beams) and 8-node 48 DOF solid elements (reinforced concrete platform). RAIL_TRACK and RAIL_TRAIN LS-DYNA’s modules were applied for simulating the moving train – track interaction. Ballasted track with the rectilinear rail-line axis was taken into consideration. German ICE-3 train running at velocity of 200–300 km/h was selected as a representative for the study. All mass components of the train FE model were treated as rigid bodies. Symmetric vibrations of the train units were assumed with respect to the main longitudinal vertical plane of symmetry of the system. Nodal displacement and longitudinal normal stress in shell elements were registered during the FE analysis. The results were depicted in the form of time histories for selected velocities. In addition, extreme values of vertical deflections and normal stress were compiled and presented a function of train velocity. It allowed to assess the dynamic response of the bridge depending on its span length. Contours of resultant displacement for the RC platform was also presented.

Opis:
Issue related to ensuring safety of technical operation of flat cars for high speed containerized transportation by way of using new types of running gear is considered in the paper. Because of principal drawbacks of widely used bogies of freight cars possible use of axle box suspension bogies is considered for the equipment of high speed flat cars. Taking into consideration highly efficient application of mathematic simulation for the determination of dynamic performance of railway cars appropriate computer models were developed for the estimation of the conditions related to ensuring safe motion of flat cars. It was revealed as result of the simulation that in case of stability of wheelsets against derailment condition of safe operation of a flat car equipped with axle box suspension bogies is satisfied at travel speeds up to and including 150 km/h whereas safe travel of a flat car equipped with conventional bogies is ensured at travel speeds up to but 100 km/h. This conclusion gives bases to recommend equipment of flat cars for high speed containerized transportation with axle box suspension running gear.

Opis:
The paper reports the results of artificial neural network modelling of vibration in a milling process of magnesium alloy AZ91D by a TiAlN-coated carbide tool. Vibrations in machining processes are regarded as an additional, absolute machinability index. The modelling was performed using the so-called “black box” model. The best fit was determined for the input and output data obtained from the machining process. The simulations were performed by the Statistica software using two types of neural networks: RBF (Radial Basis Function) and MLP (Multi-Layered Perceptron).

Opis:
Based on the one-dimensional quasi-exact physical and mathematical modelling of a composite (steel-concrete) bridge/track structure/high-speed train system (BTT), developed in Part 2, advanced computer algorithms for the BTT numerical modelling and simulation as well as a computer programme to simulate vertical vibrations of BTT systems are developed. The exemplary bridge under numerical quasi-static and dynamic analysis, designed according to Polish standards, has a 15.00 m span length and belongs to the SCB series-of-types developed in Part 1. The bridge is loaded by a German ICE-3 high-speed train moving at the resonant and maximum operating speeds. A continuously welded ballasted track structure adapted to high operating velocities is applied. The output quantities include: time-histories of the vertical deflection of the main beams at the midspan, time-histories of the longitudinal normal stress in the bottom fibres of the main beams at the midspan, time-histories of the vertical acceleration of the bridge deck at the midspan, time-histories of the vertical accelerations of the suspension pivots in car-bodies, time-histories of the dynamic pressures of the wheel sets of moving rail-vehicles. The design quantities, understood as the extreme values of the output quantities, are used to verify the design conditions. The basic random factor, i.e. vertical track irregularities of the track, is taken into consideration. Basic statistics of the design quantities treated as random variables are calculated and taken into account in the design conditions.

Opis:
Aerodynamic drag plays an important role in high-speed trains, and how to reduce the aerodynamic drag is one of the most important research subjects related to modern railway systems. This paper investigates a design method for large-scale streamlined head cars of high-speed trains by adopting NURBS theory according to the outer surface characteristics of trains. This method first created the main control lines of the driver cab by inputting control point coordinates; then, auxiliary control lines were added to the main ones. Finally, the reticular region formed by the main control lines and auxiliary ones were filled. The head car was assembled with the driver cab and sightseeing car in a virtual environment. The numerical simulation of train flow field was completed through definition of geometric models, boundary conditions, and space discretization. The calculation results show that the aerodynamic drag of the high-speed train with large-scale streamlined head car decreases by approximately 49.3% within the 50-300 km/h speed range compared with that of the quasi-streamlined high-speed train. This study reveals that the high-speed train with large-scale streamlined head car could achieve the purpose of reducing running aerodynamic drag and saving energy, and aims to provide technical support for the subsequent process design and production control of high-speed train head cars.
