Opis:
Home as a space with its own material and non-material markers is defined, among other things, by social and culturally recognised standards for using and arranging space, which are usually reproduced, mediated and redefined in the everyday living practices of the homeless. Thus, although a flat is perceived as a rare good, a privilege, from which the homeless are excluded, by constituting an important element of human life, also in the situation of homelessness it is acquired through spatial location, the arrangement of adapted- originally not residential – space, or ways of practicing neighbourhood. The article discusses factors or circumstances which in the conditions of homelessness constitute “home – room”, “home – space of housing activity”, “home – space for relations and neighbouring”, and which have been determined by reference to the opinions and practices of the homeless.

Opis:
The photo-essay aims at presenting selected characteristics of migrants’ dwelling (an untypical dwelling formation) such as: temporality, dialectics of openness on others and closeness in private space or poor material cul- ture. Authors’ interpretations these characteristics allow for redefining mi- grants’ dwelling as a non-home, a concept introduce as a result of their boar- der studies on dwelling cultures in the context of migration. A non-home is neither a simple nor a sophisticated anti-thesis of a home. It rather consists of a mixture of components, directly transferred from home and beyond. Interpretations of a non-home illustrate selected dimensions of contempo- rary transformations of culture. Presented photos were captured during our field study between 2007 and 2010 in Warsaw.

The author looks at the home telecare (sometimes wrongly identified as telemedicine), i.e. remote care of elderly and physically less able people, which provides the support and reassurance needed by them to continue living in their own homes. The paper presents the experience of implementation of such type of care in the communities of the Pomorskie voivodship in Poland. The author discusses the idea of home telecare systems created by communities, as well as conditions that need to be met in order to ensure their effectiveness and usefulness.

Rethinking homelessness : residence and the sense of home in the experience of homeless people

The objective of this article is to increase the state of knowledge on issues of residence and the sense of home by referring to the statements of homeless people and visual materials documenting the ways of physical and mental construction of the spaces they occupy. I attempt to understand the idea of having a place to live and a home by seeking the opinions of homeless people and the residential practices that characterize them, as the dynamics and forms of these lead to a rethink of what it means to live somewhere as well as to be homeless. On the basis of my own research, conducted in 2013-2016, I point to three factors that I identify as influencing the ways of residence and sense of home: external to the person, mediated by the person, and internal.

The thesis of this article focuses on the ritual function of the home. The point of departure are the findings made by researchers studying the functions of the ho me, primarily Danuta and Zbigniew Benedyktowicz, who indicate the overwhelming mythical role played by the home (the home-centre, the home-dream, the home-cosmos or even the home-chaos), its magical-ri- tual role (the zakladziny practices, the site of carrying out the rites of transition and fertility, the archetypical foundation of processes of individuation, the holy cor- ner conceived as aprolongation of liturgical rituals) or social role (the place of the formation of basic compe- tences for living in agroup, interaction with the outer world, the storehouse of clan tradition). The above-li- sted functions are confirmed by suitably formalised practice that, however, constitutes only asmall part of symbolic interactions, in which the residents remain with their homes. An interpretation category applied to indicate un-formalised interactions is the concept of rituality, derived from la vie sérieuse expounded by Durkheim and le mythique formulated by Barthes. Thus understood rituality is avariety of ritual behavio- ur - scattered, unconscious, stream-like - that acts as an intermediary between our relations with the outer world; at the same time, it serves the shaping of perso- nal and group identities. This is the case of communi- cation (self-communication - Lotman), whose part- ners (intermediaries) are also material objects, inclu- ding the home. Due to its indistinct nature one should speak about this instance of rituality/communication first and foremost in the categories of causality, the in- dividual emotional/cognitive act. The symbolic of the home and all sorts of artefacts that make it up obtains in this manner an intimate form, and the home itself assumes the form of an indexical cipher applied by the person (persons) living in it. This is ahome inscribed into individual (collective) personality. Areverse pro- cess also takes place: personalities are moulded by the symbolic baggage of the home. In this interpretation, we may ascribe to it the role of the generalised other (Mead).

Aim/purpose - The main purpose of this research is to identify and characterize the phenomenon of servitization in the food behaviors of Polish consumers and the factors shaping it. Design/methodology/approach - The empirical research was conducted on a sample of 660 respondents in the entire territory of Poland in 2018. The measurement tool in the primary research was a questionnaire. The collected data were analyzed using the multiple regression model, Cronbach's alpha coefficient, descriptive statistics, Student's t-test. Findings - The results of the research confirm that the phenomenon of servitization is poorly visible in Polish consumers' food behaviors; however, it can be concluded that this trend is becoming increasingly more visible from year to year. It has been shown that servitization of food behaviors is particularly visible among young and well-educated men who assess their income situation as good or very good and live in urban-ized areas. Research implications/limitations - The research shows that the demand for catering services is growing and reveals who uses restaurants most often, which can be used by companies in this industry. The research is limited by the non-exhaustive character of the study, the questionnaire method, and household budget surveys as research tools, which are not without flaws, as well as time limitations. Originality/value/contribution - The results suggest a number of points. First, the gradual convergence of Polish people' eating patterns with those of Western Europe in the use of catering services is shown. Second, the findings provide evidence of signifi-cant economic and socio-demographic differences regarding the use of food services among individuals. Third, they show the most important factors that shape the manifestation of servitization in consumers' food behaviors, which are income, gender, education, age, and location.

In my thesis home invasion movies are something more, than just a entertainment cinema. Home invasion movies are also a metaphor for society, state, cultural and racial criticism. I analyzed three important movies: "Inside" (2007, dir. Alexandre Bustillo, Julien Maury), "Don't Breathe" (2016, dir. Fede Alvarez) and "Insyriated" (2017, dir. Philippe Van Leeuw).

This paper examines the spatial model of a house as a labyrinth in Mark Z. Danielewski’s experimental novel House of Leaves in relation to Yuri M. Lotman’s concept of an anti-home. The aim of the paper is to analyze the spatial organization of the house presented in the novel and its influence on the characters. It also examines the connection between the mental state of the inhabitants and the changing nature of the labyrinth by demonstrating how the subversive spatiotemporal organization of domestic space accounts for the transformation of the novel’s protagonists.

The thesis presents matters related to home branding, which is a modern marketing tool used to create the image of properties. It covers the stages of the evolution of marketing and the most important elements of its composition. Then, the shape of the real estate market and the entities operating on it are presented. In the next part was shown the essence of the image and its importance in the process of improving the attractiveness of the property. In addition, in the thesis, research was carried out to assess the impact of home branding on the perception of residential property in Poland.
Niniejsza praca obejmuje zagadnienia związane z home brandingiem, czyli nowoczesnym narzędziem marketingowym służącym do kreowania wizerunku nieruchomości. Przedstawiono w niej etapy ewolucji marketingu oraz najważniejsze elementy wchodzące w jego skład. Następnie przedstawiono kształt rynku nieruchomości oraz podmioty na nim funkcjonujące. W dalszej części analizie poddano istotę wizerunku oraz jego znaczenie w procesie doskonalenia atrakcyjności nieruchomości. Dodatkowo w pracy zostały przeprowadzone badania, których celem była ocena wpływu home brandingu na postrzeganie nieruchomości mieszkalnej w Polsce.

Niniejsza praca poświęcona została zagadnieniu konstruowania domu w Domu Pomocy Społecznej. Podjęłam próbę analizy tego miejsca jako przestrzeni w której odbywa się zamieszkiwanie. Chciałam sprawdzić, czy mieszkańcy mają poczucie "bycia w domu" mimo, iż DPS jest instytucją, co jest istotne w jego budowaniu. Celem pozyskania odpowiedzi na postawione pytania przeprowadziłam wywiady indywidualne z mieszkańcami Domu Pomocy Społecznej dla osób w podeszłym wieku. Podążając za koncepcją fenomenologiczną Alfreda Schütza centralnym punktem uczyniłam świat życia codziennego jednostki.
This work has been devoted to the issue of constructing a home in the Social Assistance Homes. I made an attempt to analyze this space as a space in which takes place habitation. I wanted to see if residents have the feeling of "being at home" even though SAH is an institution, which is important in building it. In order to obtain answers to the questions I conducted individual interviews with residents of Social Assistance Homes for the elderly. Following the concept of phenomenological Alfred Schütz focal point of the world I have done everyday life of the individual.
