Opis:
Hygiene plays an important role in patients who use removable dentures. The proper way of cleaning and storage also provides better health of oral cavity tissues as well as for the remaining teeth. The research involved 162 patients, 133 women and 29 men, aged 60–90, with different levels of education, the majority with secondary education. All patients were using removable dentures. 85.8% declared earlier use of dentures, and a half of the patients had used dentures for no more than 7.5 years. A considerable percentage (33.95%) used dentures for the whole day. Storing in a container with fluid was used by 25.93% of the respondents. Over 70% used toothpaste to clean their dentures and about 14% immersed them in special preparations, e.g. CoregaTabs, while over 8% used soap. Among patients who cleaned their dentures, the majority cleaned them once a week (75%) and the minority – twice a week (25%). The greatest percentage of patients cleaned their dentures with a toothbrush and toothpaste, which is not recommended due to occurring microabrasions. It is recommended that patients should be educated regarding prosthesis hygiene and regular follow-ups.

Opis:
Niniejsza praca została poświęcona zagadnieniu higieny i medycyny w ogólnym pojęciu w dobie panowania Ludwika XIV, Ludwika XV i Ludwika XV, którzy rezydowali w Wersalu.
This master’s thesis is dedicated to the issue of hygiene and medicine in general during the reign of Louis XIV, Louis XV and Louis XVI, who resided at the Palace of Versailles. The primary object of analysis was the reality of hygiene from the XIV to the XVII century. First, we had to show the reality of that time as honestly as possible, without embellishment. Another object was to present how hygiene and medicine were handled at a time when medical awareness was low and many diseases and epidemics were a problem. Subsequently, the focus of the work was on these issues in relation to the royal residence in Versailles, where apparent elegance was mixed with dirt and a lack of cleanness.Since the subject is delicate, there are very few reliable sources which reveal the truth of this state of affairs at the time.

Opis:
Proper hand hygiene is an essential skill which allows nursing staff to provide health services of good quality. The subject of the study was the knowledge of hand hygiene procedures among Polish students of nursing who were starting their internship in health care centers. The study was carried out in June 2017 with the application of a self-designed questionnaire. A group of 322 nursing students who completed their first year of Bachelor of Arts (BA) studies participated in the research which was carried out in four medical schools providing education to nurses and situated in the south of Poland. As many as 22 of nursing students after their first year of vocational education could not correctly identify any moment of '5 moments for hand hygiene', 29 of students managed to name only one moment, 23 - three moments, 11 - four moments and only 3 succeeded in identifying all five moments. Only 32 of the respondents knew that HH should be performed before clean/aseptic procedures, 23 were aware that it should be performed before touching a patient and the same percentage saw such a need after touching a patient, 14 knew that HH was necessary after body fluid exposure and only 7 claimed hand hygiene should be performed after touching patient surroundings. The level of nursing students' knowledge varied between particular medical schools taking part in the study (p < 0.001). Only in 13 of cases students’ knowledge of '5 moments for hand hygiene' was checked by an academic teacher before they started their first internship. As far as '5 moments for hand hygiene' are concerned, deficient knowledge and skills were observed among nursing students during their first internship. The curriculum for the first year of nursing studies seems to be lacking in proper education towards prevention of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) by means of hand hygiene procedures. What was also detected was a low level of academic nursing teachers' control concerning '5 moments for hand hygiene'.

Chłopomania, czyli lek na całe zło (interpretacja powieści "Bajecznie kolorowa" Ignacego Maciejowskiego)
Peasantomania, or a cure for all evil (interpretation of the novel "Bajecznie kolorowa" by Ignacy Maciejowski)
Autorzy:
Natkaniec, Daniel
Opis:
This article offers a scholarly interpretation of the novel "Bajecznie kolorowa" (1898) by Ignacy Sewer Maciejowski, a now largely forgotten writer who is usually omitted from surveys and collections on 19th-century Polish literature. Wacek, a Young Poland painter and the novel’s protagonist, gradually turns into a weary, apathetic decadent, deprived of motivation for creative work. He regains his vital energy and inner harmony after meeting the charming Jagusia – the daughter of a peasant from Bronowice. Significantly, "Bajecznie kolorowa" can be read as a prose portrait of Włodzimierz Tetmajer and Anna Mikołajczykówna, whose marriage was famously depicted three years later in "The Wedding" by Stanisław Wyspiański. In my analysis, I define peasantomania not only as a cultural trend of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, but also as a hygienic phantasm – an attempt by the artistic community to restore mental and physical (affective) balance. I argue that this movement emerged as a response to the existential maladies of the modernists, who sought in rustic life a universal antidote to the pervasive Weltschmerz. At the same time, I draw attention to the unwarranted mythologization of the countryside and its inhabitants, portrayed in an overly simplified and idyllic manner. The text under analysis thus reveals the tensions between the literary vision of peasantomania and the real social and health problems of the fin de siècle.

Opis:
The aim of this thesis was the evaluation of efficiency of wash and disinfection processes of work surfaces in meat processing plant on the basis of bioluminescence test results which were based on measurement of ATP concentration. Samples were taken from the production area and swabs from the walls after the production process, after washing and after washing and disinfection. The highest percentage of washing and disinfection in the case of said cutter, the surface of which reduced the level of ATP in the rangę of 95,73-98,17%. Equally effective elimination of pollution after the washing process of disinfection was obtained for the surface of tables for packaging meats. After the disinfection treatment decreased the level of ATP from 90,45-92,15% relative to the quantity of the production process. Cleaning and disinfection processes effectively reduce the amount of impurities on the working surfaces.

Opis:
Objectives: To answer to the following questions: is there any relationship between oral hygiene and the growth of yeast in patients without mucosal inflammation; and is there a need for mycological examination patients without mucosal inflammation? Background: Patients with candidiasis may report varied symptoms, but such infections are most often asymptomatic. In addition to its high incidence in denture users (60%-100%), there is a concern that Candida species from the oral cavity may colonize the upper gastrointestinal tract and lead to septicemia, which has a 40%-79% mortality rate and can require a prolonged hospital stay. It is thus important for all physicians to be aware of the risk factors, diagnosis, and treatment of oral candidiasis in older patients. Methods: A retrospective study was carried out on a group of patients who had undergone mycological examination and assessment of the intensity of yeast growth, and oral hygiene. Results: Ninety-one denture wearers who lacked signs of clinical inflammation were included in the study. The growth of Candida albicans was as follows: 14 patients had up to 20 colonies; 19 patients had over 20 colonies. Ten percent of patients with good oral hygiene proved to have more than 20 yeast colonies. 5% of patients with bad oral hygiene had more than 20 colonies. Conclusions: There was no relationship found between hygiene and the growth rate of fungal microorganisms. In patients without clinical symptoms of stomatitis, mycological examination should be considered.
