Opis:
We consider the limit behaviour of elastic shells when the relative thickness tends to zero. We address the case when the middle surface has principal curvatures of opposite signs and the boundary conditions ensure the geometrical rigidity. The limit problem is hyperbolic, but enjoys peculiarities which imply singularities of unusual intensity. We study these singularities and their propagation for several cases of loading, giving a somewhat complete description of the solution.

The minimal control time for the exact controllability by internal controls of 1D linear hyperbolic balance laws

Opis:
In this article we study the internal controllability of 1D linear hyperbolic balance laws when the number of controls is equal to the number of state variables. The controls are supported in space in an arbitrary open subset. Our main result is a complete characterization of the minimal control time for the exact controllability property.

Opis:
In this article, we study the time-domain decomposition of optimal control problems for systems of semilinear hyperbolic equations and provide an in-depth well-posedness analysis. This is a continuation of our work, Krug et al. (2021) in that we now consider mixed two-point boundary value problems. The more general boundary conditions significantly enlarge the scope of applications, e.g., to hyperbolic problems on metric graphs with cycles. We design an iterative method based on the optimality systems that can be interpreted as a decomposition method for the original optimal control problem into virtual control problems on smaller time domains.

Opis:
This paper is concerned with domain decomposition in exact controllability of a class of linear second order hyperbolic systems on one-dimensional graphs in [R^3] that in particular serve as descriptive models of the dynamics of various multi-link structures consisting of one-dimensional elements, such as networks of Timoshenko beams in [R^3]. We first consider a standard unconstrained optimal control problem in which the cost functional penalizes the deviation of the final state of the global problem from a given target state. A convergent domain decomposition for the optimality system associated with this problem was recently given by G. Leugering. This decomposition depends on the penalty parameter. On each edge of the graph and at each iteration level the local problem is itself the optimality system associated with an unconstrained optimal control problem in which the cost functional penalizes the deviation of the final state of the particular edge from the target state for that edge. The main purpose of this paper is to show that at each iteration level and on each edge the local optimality system converges as the penalty parameter approaches its limit and that the limit system is a domain decomposition for the problem of norm minimum exact control to the target state.

Null controllability and finite-time stabilization in minimal time of one-dimensional first-order 2 × 2 linear hyperbolic systems

Opis:
The goal of this article is to present the minimal time needed for the null controllability and finite-time stabilization of one-dimensional first-order 2 ×2 linear hyperbolic systems. The main technical point is to show that we cannot obtain a better time. The proof combines the backstepping method with the Titchmarsh convolution theorem.

Opis:
In this paper, the time-optimal control problem for infinite order hyperbolic systems in which time delays appear in the integral form both in state equations and in boundary conditions is considered. Optimal controls are characterized in terms of an adjoint system and shown to be unique and bang-bang. These results extend to certain cases of nonlinear control problems. The particular properties of optimal control are discussed.

Opis:
Extremal problems for multiple time delay hyperbolic systems are presented. The optimal boundary control problems for hyperbolic systems in which multiple time delays appear both in the state equations and in the Neumann boundary conditions are solved. The time horizon is fixed. Making use of Dubovicki-Milutin scheme, necessary and sufficient conditions of optimality for the Neumann problem with the quadratic performance functionals and constrained control are derived.

The problem of exponential decay for solutions of porous-thermoelasticity system, when time t ->∞ is studied. For sufficiently small values of parameter of intensity of elasticity-porosity interactions the exponential decaying is established. The idea of compact decoupling is applied for the system of equations. Exponential decay is proved first for the simpler decoupled system, then the prop erty is derived for the original system.

Distribution of periodic trajectories of C-K systems MIXMAX pseudorandom number generator

Opis:
We are considering the hyperbolic C-K systems of Anosov–Kolmogorov which are defined on high dimensional tori and are used to generate pseudorandom numbers for Monte-Carlo simulations. All trajectories of the C-K systems are exponentially unstable and pseudorandom numbers are represented in terms of coordinates of very long chaotic trajectories. The C-K systems on a torus have countable set of everywhere dense periodic trajectories and their distribution play a crucial role in coding and implementation of the pseudorandom number generator. The asymptotic distribution of chaotic trajectories of C-K systems with periods less than a given number is well known in mathematical literature, but a deviation from its asymptotic behavior is unknown. Using analytical and computer calculations, we are studying a distribution function of periodic trajectories and their deviation from asymptotic behavior. The corresponding MIXMAX generator has the best combination of speed, size of the state and is currently available generator.

Opis:
We consider an opitmal control problem for systems defined by nonlinear hyperbolic partial differential equations with state constraints. Since no convexity assumptions are made on the data, we also consider the control problem in relaxed form. We discretize both the classical and the relaxed problenms by using a finite element method in space and a finite difference scheme in time, the controls being approximated by piecevise constant ones. We develop the existence theory and the necessary conditions for optimality, for the continous and the discrete problems. Finally, we study the behaviour in the limit of discrete optimality, admissibility and extremality properties.
