Opis:
The article describes the characteristics of the spatial disorientation simulator constructed for the Polish Air Force Academy aviation training. Using the spatial disorientation simulator enables safe training for military pilots, as it simulates visual illusions and spatial disorientation. The simulator makes it possible to train pilots in spatial disorientation conditions for every possible type of aircraft, through designing and conducting the proper aircraft cabin models. Spatial disorientation training has to main aims. The first one is familiarizing the pilots with spatial disorientation phenomenon, and providing them with essential knowledge and abilities through theoretical and practical acquaintance with physiological limitations. Such limitations are related to the impact of different aviation environmental aspects on the human body. The second aim of the training is increasing the efficiency of aviation training, in relation to recognizing, analyzing and proper reacting to real and simulated occurrences, which lead to spatial disorientation. The author describes main stages of the training conducted during the spatial disorientation course. The article categorizes major features of different spatial confusion types and characterizes types of air illusions.

A general discussion of the epistemological foundations of a psychology of perception will be exemplified by examples from visual and aural illusions. Based on differences between perception and cognition, the idea of perception as action is introduced and discussed in the light of modern theories of perception. Finally, a clear differentiation between perception as the sensorial input and cognition as a process that generates meaning consolidates the focus on perception and action.

Opis:
ObjectivesThe study aimed to establish the current incidence and severity of spatial disorientation (SD) in Polish military pilots when flying different aircraft types over their entire careers, and to determine how SD training and pilots’ flight experience might benefit their recognition of situations that may cause SD.Material and MethodsOverall, 176 military Polish pilots (aged 33.8±7.72 years, the number of flying hours: 1194±941) flying different aircraft types, who attended the aviation medicine course, were surveyed and asked to report their episodes of SD. To collect anonymous data, a postal SD questionnaire (INFO PUB 61/117/5) was used.ResultsIn the overall incidence rate of SD (96%), the most commonly experienced SD illusion was “loss of horizon due to atmospheric conditions” (81%). More SD incidents were reported by pilots who had received SD training. Some differences in the categories of the most commonly experienced SD illusion episodes between aircraft types were found. A severe episode adversely affecting flight safety was categorized by 10% of the respondents.ConclusionsIn Polish military aviation, episodes of SD are a significant threat to aviation safety. There is evidence for the beneficial effects of SD training in the improvement of pilots’ ability to recognize those factors that lead to SD.

Opis:
The Franssen illusion, or Franssen effect (FE), is one of the auditory spatial illusions. Few studies have explored the FE, and the mechanisms underlying it remain unknown. The present study was conducted to clarify the FE occurrence with different tasks and presentation modes in young adults. It also sought to investigate possible neurophysiological similarities between interaural time difference (ITD) cue processing and FE perception. FE perception was evaluated using two different tasks and two presentation modes (i.e., insert phones and loudspeakers). Sound reflections (reverberation) were presented in the diffuse field (loudspeaker mode). ITD performance was investigated using different stimuli delivered via insert phones. No significant difference between the two FE perception tasks was found (F1;25 = 0:138, p = 0:713). However, the FE perception showed a significant difference between the two presentation modes (F1;25 = 434:03, p < 0:001). Spearman’s correlation did not reveal a significant relationship between FE perception and ITD scores (p > 0:05). The current findings show the importance of reverberation in the FE occurrence. Also, the non-significant correlation between the results of the behavioral binaural temporal resolution test and FE perception in young people with normal temporal resolution may indicate that room reflections (reverberation) complicate the ability to process ITDs (rather than poor ITD processing for the “steady state” portion of signal).

Opis:
The aim of this article is to provide the synthetic presentation of over twenty years of Poland’s experience in establishing and obeying the system of fiscal rules. This experience depicts the scale of problems entailed by public authorities’ low determination as regards observance of constraints imposed on them. Therefore, it is necessary to substantially reinforce the budgetary frameworks in Poland with the use of the best European models. Firstly, the ESA 2010 standards should be fully implemented into the Polish legal order. Secondly, the Polish system of fiscal rules should be complemented with the budget balance rule, which would make it easier to achieve and maintain a medium-term budgetary objective defined by the EU regulations. Thirdly, a fiscal institution should be established, which would allow for constant and independent of the government monitoring of the observance of fiscal rules. Such institutional changes would make it possible to constrain the discretionary nature of the fiscal policy and, consequently, would increase Poland’s fiscal sustainability in the medium and long term. The basic research methods used in this paper are dogmatic analysis and comparative legal analysis.

Opis:
This study examined cognitive predictors of susceptibility to orientation illusions: Poggendorff, Ponzo, and Zöllner. It was assumed that lower efficiency of information processing in WM and higher field dependence are conducive to orientation illusions. 61 architects (30 women) aged M = 29, +/- 1.6, and 49 university students (29 women) aged M = 23.53, +/- 4.24, were tested with Witkin’s EFT to assess their field dependence; the SWATT method was used as a measure of WM efficiency, and susceptibility to visual illusions was verified with a series of computer tasks. We obtained a small range of the explained variance in the regression models including FDI and WM indicators. On the basis of WM efficiency indicators, we managed to confirm the existence of memory predictors of susceptibility to illusions (they are rather weak, as they explain from 6% to 14% of the variance of the dependent variable). Among the architects, lower efficiency of WM processing (weaker inhibition, task-switching) and higher field dependence are responsible for greater susceptibility to orientation illusions.

Opis:
Research conducted at the outset of the pandemic shows that people are vulnerable to unrealistic optimism (UO). However, the Weinstein model suggests that this tendency may not persist as the pandemic progresses. Our research aimed at verifying whether UO persists during the second (Study 1) and the third wave (Study 2) of the pandemic in Poland, whether it concerns the assessment of the chances of COVID-19 infection (Study 1 and Study 2), the chances of severe course of the disease and adverse vaccine reactions (Study 2). We show that UO toward contracting COVID-19 persists throughout the pandemic. However, in situations where people have little influence on the occurrence of the event (chances of severe course of the disease and adverse vaccine reactions), the participants do not show UO. The exceptions are those who have personally known someone who has died from a coronavirus infection. These results are discussed in terms of self-esteem protection and the psychological threat reduction mechanism.

Opis:
The study Český román v čase »kamarádů svobody« (Czech novel in the times of ´friends of friedom´) is devoted to the first period of writings of Fráňa Šrámek and Jiří Mahen (1905–1924). Both authors who belonged to the anarchistic bohemian goup roused interest by the expressively lyrical style of both their playwright and early prosaic works. Their first larger works, Šrámek´s novels Stříbrný vítr (Silver wind, 1910) and Křižovatky (Crossroads, 1914) and Mahen´s Kamarádi svobody (Friends of freedom,1909), represent a new variant of the novels of lost illusions. This type of novel was introduced to the Czech literary context during 90ths by the generation of “moderna” (Mrštík, Svobodová, Svoboda, Sova). The generation that debuted at the beginning of the 20th century connected this literary type with the easing of fixed composition and with aiming on capturing emotional state and sensual experience of the literary characters.

Performativity in the works of Ivan Vyrypaev. Oxygen, Illusions, Delhi Dance
. Performatywność w utworach Iwana Wyrypajewa. Tlen, Iluzje, Taniec Delhi
Autorzy:
Buchowska, Zuzanna
Opis:
The aim of this thesis is to investigate the topic of performativity with a focus on the works of a young Russian director, Ivan Vyrypaev. In the first part, a short history of the word "performativity" is presented, revealing researchers' troubles with creating a solid, unequivocal definition. The author tries to create one, based on the chosen existing ones. The thesis then presents a short biography of Vyrypaev, a brief history of the "new drama" in modern Russian theatre, and the director's view on art and the artist. In a detailed last section the thesis provides an analysis of three chosen works of Ivan Vyrypaev - "Oxygen", "Illusions" and "Delhi Dance".In conclusion, the thesis proves that - despite initial troubles with definitions - the director does create performative works of art.
