Opis:
The study To Publish, Make Known and Sell is based on the verified existence of competition tensions between the 15th-century typographers/publishers, related to the absence of functional regulatory tools of book production of the incunabula period. The increase in the number of book-printers within the relatively narrow geographical area, disregard of publishers' privileges, the emergence of pirated reprints, as well as insufficient self-promotion on the book market through introducing novelties had concentrated typographers' attention on devising new tools of securing their triumph in publisher's competition - the so-called book advertisements. The author has analysed 44 promotional posters of the incunabula period from several points of view and attempted to identify their design elements, which on the one hand showed signs of certain standardization, while on the other hand, they were subject to the personal creativity of their creator. She gives a detailed overview of the circumstances of the origin, typographic design, and contents of book advertisements of several kinds within the context of promoting either the existing or planned editions, of one edition or a group of books; specifically focusing on the unique types of advertising. In conclusion, the author cites the circumstances of the extinction of book advertisements related to the rise of the new promotional tool - booksellers' catalogue and submits a bibliography of the book advertisements dating from the 15th century.

Opis:
The monastery dedicated to St Elijah in Czerna was founded by Agnes of Teczynska Firlej in 1631. From its beginning the monastery collected works both for the celebration of liturgy and so as to deepen the knowledge and spirituality in the areas of asceticism, preaching and theology. Books usually came from donations and legacies. Currently in the resource library of old prints in Czerna there are 14 incunabula. Incunabula are not uniform provenance band books. They come from the ecclesiastical institutions, from individual person and from the clergy. Some of incunabula have an original binding, other have been replaced or refurbished. Though it is a small collection of books, in terms of quality it reflects the interests and needs of the environment. The smudged corners of the pages and the highlights made of part of the text can testify that these books were used by monks in deepening their knowledge.

Opis:
The paper discusses some aspects of possibilities and dangers that new digital technologies bring in the camp of transmission of texts, especially the literary ones, and their scholar edition. While the new trends and achieve- ments are still under discussion, a glance towards the similar situation of some 500 years ago, when printing press was introduced to replace, step by step, a manuscript communication, could be useful to understand what we experience and to foresee some ways these new technologies will probably undertake.

Dzięki ocalałym zapisom sporządzonym przed 1939 r. w Bibliotece Seminaryjnej w Płocku możemy dzisiaj odtworzyć z dużym prawdopodobieństwem księgozbiór po Piotrze Lubarcie, renesansowym sufraganie płockim współpracującym kolejno z biskupem Erazmem Ciołkiem i Andrzejem Krzyckim. Analiza tego już niewielkiego zbioru (w ciągu wieków znacznie się zmniejszył) jest odzwierciedleniem wykształcenia, jakie odebrał w krakowskiej Alma Mater pod kierunkiem Jakuba z Gostynina, a także zainteresowań i potrzeby zgłębienia ksiąg, które nabył w ciągu życia, i sprawowania różnych funkcji kościelnych. Zgromadzone przez niego księgi są też znaczącym przyczynkiem do uzupełnienia wizerunku biograficznego wyższego rangą duchownego sprawującego funkcję sufragana w jednej z najstarszych diecezji w dawnej Polsce – w Płocku na Mazowszu.
Thanks to the surviving records compiled before 1939 in the Seminary Library in Płock, we can today reconstruct with a high degree of accuracy the book collection of Piotr Lubart, the Renaissance suffragan of Płock who worked with Bishop Erazm Ciołek and Andrzej Krzycki. The analysis of this already small collection (which has reduced considerably over the centuries) reflects the education he received at Krakow’s Alma Mater under the guidance of Jakub of Gostynin, as well as the interest and need to study the books he acquired during his life and various ecclesiastical functions. The books that he collected during his life are also a significant contribution to completing the biographical profile of a high-ranking clergyman who held the post of suffragan in one of the oldest dioceses in former Poland – in Płock in Mazovia.
