Opis:: The concept of the Smart City becomes a reality the functioning of modern cities. The deployment of modern information and communication technologies in key urban processes is a response to the increasing needs of the monitoring, surveillance, control and management of modern cellular processes in cities. The purpose of this article is to indicate, on selected examples of implemented projects in Poland and all over the world, which constitute the foundations for the implementation of intelligent solutions in the process. The article discusses the selected projects implementation the concept of Smart City on the background of the concept of sustainable urban development, which is the concept has been circled in the Lisbon strategy. A selection of examples referred to in the article was made on the basis of published in the Polish media and world rankings, „smart cities”.

Opis:: This paper deals with using information communication technology at different levels of English courses in A. Yassawi International Kazakh-Turkish University, Kazakhstan. The use of information communication technology enables students to expand their language study. Students expressed their positive opinions about the benefits of using information communication technology. Realizing the value of the students’ positive opinion about using the information communication technologies in the learning process, conditions should be created for them to have the chance to broadly use them in modern education. This study explored how social networking technology can be used to supplement face-to-face courses as a means of enhancing students’ sense of community. Data was collected from 102 students of engineering and pedagogical faculty who enrolled in these courses. Findings indicated that the majority of participants developed strong feelings of social connectedness and expressed favorable feelings regarding their learning experiences in the classes where social networking sites were used as a supplementary tool. Learner difficulties and concerns of instructors about the educational use of social media are addressed with recommendations for future research and practice.

Opis:: The role of information in agricultural development cannot be overemphasized, as information is vital in increasing production, improving marketing and enhancing distribution strategies. Therefore, the study examined the impact of information communication technologies on the technical efficiency of fish farming in Ogun State, Nigeria using a stochastic production frontier approach. In a cross-sectional survey, a multi-stage sampling technique was employed to elicit primary information from 120 fish farmers. Major ICT sources used by the fish farmers include television (81.7%), radio (79.2%) and the Internet (68.3%). The average output of catfish has positive and significant elasticity with regards to each input variable except family labour. The inefficiency model revealed that the age of farmers, farming experience, television and radio usage were significant but negatively related. That means that any increase in any of these factors will reduce the inefficiency of fish farmers and bring about an increase in technical efficiency. This implies that it is possible to increase technical efficiency in fish farming in the study area provided that the media channel (radio and television) predominantly used is improved. This study recommends a reduction in family labour usage while at the same time encouraging young people to venture into fish farming.

Opis:: Technology is an indispensable element of modern language education. The purpose of presented qualitative study is to identify whether modern technology is used in the classroom by teachers who teach visually impaired students and what the effect of modern technology on teaching is. The teachers’ knowledge of information communication technology (ICT) is also discussed. The research is based on the feedback received from unstructured in-depth interviews conducted with teachers of visually impaired students. Among the surveyed educators, there were teachers working both in public schools as well as in integrated special schools. Based on the said interviews in-depth analyses have been made. The research has shown that assistive technology not only aids the visually impaired students but also their teachers as well. The public and integrated school teachers’ attitudes towards teaching the visually impaired varies.

Opis:: Economies are increasingly becoming dependent on Information Communication Technology (ICT) and concerns over sustainability have called for the investigation of the relation between sustainability and ICT. While the majority of the studies in this field have an environmentalist focus in this regard, technical, economical and societal concerns on sustainability have arisen in the last decade. Today, more and more studies are addressing the need for the inclusion of sustainability as a design goal for ICT development and for the systems that rely on ICT. Therefore, the integration of education on sustainability in the curriculum is imperative for current and future generations of professionals to accomplish this goal. In this paper, we propose a curriculum for sustainable ICT along with the expected learning outcomes and components. The course design is based on a multi-faceted approach that embraces different viewpoints on sustainability and aims to increase students’ awareness of the complex nature of sustainability.
Świat w coraz większym stopniu zależy od Teleinformatyki (Information Communication Technology, ICT). Warto zadać pytanie o relację pomiędzy zrównoważonym rozwojem a Teleinformatyką. Większość przeprowadzanych badań koncentruje się na aspektach środowiskowych, kwestie techniczne, ekonomiczne i społeczne pozostają w cieniu. Dziś jednak coraz częściej wyrażany jest postulat wskazujący na konieczność uwzględnienia aspektu zrównoważoności w tworzeniu systemów teleinformatycznych i w podsystemach, które są od nich zależne. Dlatego uwzględnienie w programie nauczania problematyki zrównoważoności stanowi imperatyw dla obecnych i przyszłych profesjonalistów. W tym artykule proponujemy program dla zrównoważonej teleinformatyki, uwzględniający zarys treści programowych i efektów kształcenia. Program oparty jest na wieloaspektowym podejściu, obejmującym różne punkty widzenia, którego celem jest zrozumienie przez studentów złożoności problematyki zrównoważonego rozwoju.

Opis:: Nowadays technologies influence our work and private life and this requires constant changes. It also concerns education. To be well educated you should still act effectively and efficiently using modern technological developments. The development of ICT (Information Communication Technologies) has led to the Internet gaining the status of the main channel of distribution of all information. New processes of distance education (e-learning) are penetrating education, the public sector and businesses. The aim of this paper is to analyse and compare selected e-learning systems using software with the implemented AHP method.
Obecnie technologie informatyczne wpływają na naszą pracę i życie prywatne. Dotyczy to również edukacji, gdzie proces uczenia i nauczania może być skutecznie i wydajnie realizowany przy użyciu nowoczesnych rozwiązań technologicznych. Rozwój ICT (Information Communication Technology) doprowadził do rozwoju Internetu, który zyskuje status głównego kanału dystrybucji wszystkich informacji. Nowe procesy kształcenia na odległość (e-learning) przenikają do edukacji, sektora publicznego oraz firm. Celem niniejszej pracy była analiza i porównanie wybranych systemów e-learningowych. Analizę przeprowadzono z wykorzystaniem systemu MakeItRational, który posiada zaimplementowany algorytm wielokryterialnej metody AHP.

Opis:: This research aims to investigate the effect of the information communication technology readiness and knowledge management on entrepreneurial strategic orientation and their implication to firm performance. The methodology of this research was explanatory research with hypothesis testing for examining seven hypotheses. The study populations were small medium enterprises located in DKI Jakarta, with a sample size of 392 SMEs. Data for this study were collected using questionnaires, and structural equation modeling (SEM) was employed for data analysis. The results of this research were as follows: (1) Information communication technology readiness positively and significantly influenced entrepreneurial strategic orientation; (2) knowledge management positively and significantly influenced entrepreneurial strategic orientation; (3) information communication technology readiness and knowledge management positively and significantly influenced entrepreneurial strategic orientation; (4) information communication technology readiness positively and significantly influenced firm performance; (5) knowledge management positively and significantly influenced firm performance; (6) entrepreneurial strategic orientation positively and significantly influenced firm performance; and (7) information communication technology readiness, knowledge management, and entrepreneurial strategic orientation positively and significantly influenced firm performance. The mediating effect of entrepreneurial strategic orientation increased the effects of information communication technology readiness and knowledge management on firm performance. The results of this research indicate that the effect of information communication technology readiness and knowledge management on entrepreneurial strategic orientation, information communication technology readiness, and knowledge management on entrepreneurial strategic orientation on firm performance of SMEs of Jakarta. All of seven hypotheses that are proposed in this research can be accepted. Information communication technology readiness as an independent variable was the strongest influence on entrepreneurial strategic orientation, and entrepreneurial strategic orientation was the strongest influence on firm performance. This dissertation also discusses the findings and limitations, theoretical and practical contribution, theoretical and managerial implications of the study, and suggestions for future research.

Opis:: Tematem opracowania jest przybliżenie wykorzystania nowoczesnych technologii informacyjnych i telekomunikacyjnych w edukacji. Przedstawiono rolę ICT we współczesnym kształceniu. Na podstawie analizy badań ankietowych wykazano, że uczniowie gimnazjum są świadomi dezaktualizacji wiedzy z zakresu nowoczesnych technologii informacyjnych, ale blisko 1/3 nic nie robi, aby pozostawać na bieżąco z wiedzą z zakresu technologii informacyjnej.
The analysis of use of information and communication technologies in education is the subject of this paper. There was shown the role of ICT in modern education. Based on analysis of the survey was shown that middle school students are aware of quickness outdated knowledge of modern information technology, but nearly 1/3 of them does nothing to get familiar with the newest knowledge in area of information technology.
