Opis:: During January and February 2004, an interdisciplinary group from the Institute of Developing Countries at the Faculty of Geography and Regional Studies of Warsaw University spent time at the Farafra Oasis in Egypt, observing changes in resource management and transformations in the society. The aim was to compare the results with those of earlier studies conducted in 1993.

Opis:: The growing popularity of archaeology and the amassment of new archaeological researches compelled archaeologist to make an interpretations based on different domains of humanistic sciences. This interdisciplinary studies allow to look at the problem of reconstructing the past from a different perspectives. Since most significant issues had multiple causes, interdisciplinary studies provide a more comprehensive understanding of issues. The cooperation of different domains of sciences (archaeology, ethnology and cultural anthropology) is essential for studying the past. It is particularly important for the Brazilian Amazon where the great part of cultural processes could not be seen in an archaeological context.

Opis:: In the article the author refers to the critical remarks of his book “Professionalization of governmental administration in Poland 1918–1939: social and cultural condition” placed in the article of Janusz Mierzwa in “Cracow Studies of Consittutional and Legal History” vol. 4. Author points out to the misunderstanding of his book and not taking into account the purpose of the research and purposefully selected sources. Author takes a stance against the objections and states that beliefs expressed by Mierzwa in his article, do not help the cooperation between historians and sociologists.

Opis:: PhD studies in Mathematics and Natural Science, called MISDoMP, have been conducted within the College of MISMaP UW since 2008. The College itself was formed in 2001 by seven UW faculties: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Geography and Regional Studies, Geology, Mathematics, Informatics and Mechanics as well as Psychology. This inter-faculty study programme offers a wide range of new opportunities for open-minded students whose broad interests go beyond the beaten paths of traditional education. This claim is supported by examples of projects being carried out at MISDoMP. The article also shows the advantages that interdisciplinary dissertations can bring to the advisors and the university. A profile of the PhD students is sketched. Finally, the author of the article clarifies the details of the admission procedure.

Opis:: The goal of this paper is to present interdisciplinary environmental studies in urban park. Simple measures are proposed here for evaluating the status of vegetation and its habitat. When systematically applied, these measures could be a basis for sustainable management of the park greenery. Studies performed in Skaryszewski Park in Warsaw are as an example. Studies confirmed the assumption that simple and relatively cheap field and laboratory methods could be a good basis for recognising the status of plant habitats in parks.

Opis:: Artykuł prezentuje znaczenie paleoekologii dla badań historii gospodarczej, geografii historycznej i historii środowiskowej. Praca przybliża możliwości metodyczne paleoekologii. Zwracamy uwagę na niewykorzystany dotąd potencjał wysokorozdzielczej paleoekologii. Wykorzystując naturalne archiwa (osady jezior i torfowisk), jesteśmy w stanie prześledzić historię przemian przyrody, możemy zrekonstruować historię i lepiej zrozumieć zmiany ekosystemów Polski oraz jej rozwój ekonomiczny
The article presents the importanceof palaeoecology for the study of economic history, historical geography and environmental history. The text introduces the methodological possibilities of palaeoecology. We pay attention to the unused potential of high resolution palaeoecol-ogy. By using natural archives (sediments of lakes and peatlands), we are able to trace the history of changes in nature. We can reconstruct history and better understand the changes in Poland’s ecosys-tems and its economic development.

Locatelli), co umożliwia ogląd dobrze znanych zjawisk z komparatystycznego punktu widzenia. W centrum zainteresowania autora pojawia się zagadnienie "partytury literackiej", a mianowicie fenomen intertekstów muzycznych istniejących w literaturze. Rozpatrywane są ścisłe zależności intertekstualne, w sytuacji których zapis literacki bądź implikuje konkretną kompozycję muzyczną, bądź jest w nią precyzyjnie wpisany, bądź współistnieje z nią jako składnik konstrukcji intermedialnej. Zjawiska literackie wiązane z partyturą muzyczną potraktowane zostają jednak w znacznie szerszej perspektywie, co prowadzi do interpretacji rozmaitych przedsięwzięć artystycznych. Szczególną uwagę poświęca się realizacjom poety sonornego Bernarda Heidsiecka i twórcy Teatru Osobnego Mirona Białoszewskiego, utworom poetyckim Kornela Ujejskiego i Stanisława Barańczaka, twórczości dramaturga-kompozytora Bogusława Schaeffera oraz hybrydom tekstowym Michela Butora.
