Opis:: One of the basic assumptions of the article is to reflect on the issue of a modern education system for students of social sciences, which will meet the expectations and needs of students, academic teachers, researchers, practitioners and society on the one hand, and the numerous and increasingly ambiguous challenges of modernity on the other. We pay special attention to social work as an activity and profession in which we undertake scientific, research and practical activities. The forms of education, we focus on in the article are international projects based on the implementation by students of joint educational and social projects. Their use allows to achieve the most desired effects, among which one should distinguish the increase of awareness and reflectiveness, the pursuit of critical (self)development of young people and increases openness to knowledge, experience, innovation and changes. To exemplify, we used the analysis of an international project titled Social work with mentally ill people and their families in Germany, France and Poland implemented in cooperation with partner schools at the Institute of Sociology of the Jagiellonian University.

Opis:: Aim. The paper focuses on the divergence of views of experts from four European educational institutions on key competences, which would become the basis for a successful performance of a mentor position. They should be taken as the key items of a mentor competence profile. Methods. A panel discussion – specifically, a focus group interview as its alternative form – was used to determine how the experts assessed particular competences of the mentor competence profile, i.e. to identify which competences they considered to be the key ones of the mentor competence profile. The panel discussion was led by six focus groups, members of which were experts representing four different countries from six universities: two from Slovakia and the Czech Republic, and one from Hungary and Serbia. Results. The intention of the conducted panel discussion was to find a common view and consensus on the key competences required for a successful performance of the mentor position. However, the results of the panel discussion showed a significant divergence of the opinions on the fundamental mentor competences depending on the country the experts were from. Differences in the views on the issue examined by experts representing different institutions from the same country also occurred, but proved to be inconclusive. Conclusion. Mentoring is currently considered one of the most important means of developing pedagogical competences of future and novice teachers. The results of the conducted panel discussion may contribute to the creation of a platform on which an adequate professional mentor training can be designed.

Opis:: Realised since 2004, the projects apply to an extremely diverse area of support for every fi eld of human activity and, taking into consideration the financing source, the majority of them are currently cofinanced by EU funds as part of, among other things, the regional development policy. The process of project planning and realisation is directly related to project management which is periodical i.e. it is a closed entirety consisting of repetitive phases and stages. In relation to the above there is a possibility to formulate principles, ways of planning and realising a project. What are the characteristics of supranational cooperation projects? The most important factor is that, apart from a project benefi ciary, there is a partner without whom we would be unable to realise activities that require partnership. Another characteristic is the so-called added value, understood as the objectives of a project and concrete products and results possible to be achieved only through supranational cooperation which would otherwise be unable to be realised by implementing projects with a national range only. For the purpose of this article the author, as an example of such a project, selected a project realised as part of PO KL entitled “A Change in the Way of Thinking as a Key to Social Integration”.

Opis:: The research is focused on the role of higher education in the development of European values among applicants for higher education, in particular the role of international projects that contribute to active European citizenship and spread the fundamental values of the European Union. The article uses the method of modeling and substantiation of the model of the development of European values among future PhDs during a Jean Monnet Module of the Erasmus+ program called “University autonomy in the development of democratic values in higher education: The experience of the EU Member states for Ukraine” at Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University. The model contains four structural blocks that specify the goal, tasks, methodological approaches, principles, content of structural components, forms, methods, means, stages, functions, pedagogical conditions, and expected results. The study is aimed at developing European values in graduate students as young scientists and teachers of higher education institutions – who will become agents of qualitative changes and help establish the principles of democracy in the academic community – and deepening European integration. The results of the study are presented in the broad public discourse of Ukraine, confirmed by the data of sociological studies on European integration in Ukrainian citizens’ value orientations, accelerated by the large-scale russian military invasion of Ukraine. Since sociological studies indicate a certain fragmentation of European values instead of an integral whole in the perception of the respondents, we believe that institutions of higher education themselves are an important element that builds the state and society on the basis of European values and that international projects implemented at universities contribute to the European integration of Ukraine and the formation of the values of a united Europe in young citizens. ********************* Funded by the European Union. Jednym z podstawowych założeń artykułu jest podjęcie refleksji nad problematyką nowoczesnego systemu kształcenia studentów kierunków społecznych, który odpowiadał będzie na oczekiwania i potrzeby studentów, nauczycieli akademickich, badaczy, praktyków i społeczeństwa z jednej strony oraz liczne i coraz bardziej niejednoznaczne wyzwania współczesności z drugiej. Szczególną uwagę poświęcamy pracy socjalnej jako aktywności i profesji, w obszarze której podejmujemy naukowe, badawcze i praktyczne działania. Formy edukacji, na których skupiamy się w artykule, to wymiany międzynarodowe oparte na realizacji przez studentów wspólnych projektów edukacyjnych i społecznych. Ich wykorzystanie pozwala osiągnąć najbardziej dziś pożądane efekty, wśród których wyróżnić należy przede wszystkim wzrost świadomości i refleksyjności, dążenie do krytycznego (samo)rozwoju młodych ludzi oraz zwiększenie otwartości na wiedzę, doświadczenia, innowacje i zmiany. Za ilustrację posłużyła nam analiza międzynarodowego projektu pt. Praca socjalna z osobami chorującymi psychicznie i ich rodzinami w Niemczech, Francji i Polsce zrealizowanego w kooperacji z uczelniami partnerskimi w Instytucie Socjologii UJ.

Tytuł:: Researchers’ reflections on values, mechanisms, and dynamics of knowledge and information sharing in international academic projects

Opis:: Knowledge/information sharing is among the vital necessities of effective scholarly collaborations. This study investigates the role of knowledge/information sharing among project members in international academic projects through the lens of Structuration Theory. The study is based on semi-structured interviews with 28 academicians and researchers from India, Norway, Poland, and South Africa, who have been involved in international academic projects. The transcriptions were imported into F4Analyse software (version 3.4.5) and were coded. The study reveals three main themes: 1) the significance and value of sharing, 2) mechanisms and platforms for effective communication and sharing, and 3) interpersonal dynamics and challenges in sharing. Each theme highlights critical aspects of the dynamics in international academic collaborations. The findings underscore the complexities and challenges in these collaborations, such as power dynamics, the potential risks of sharing, and the possibility for exploitation. The study concludes that the process of sharing transcends mere dissemination of information, being deeply rooted in mutual respect, acknowledgment of contributions, and openness. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of the dynamics of information sharing in international academic collaborations.
Dzielenie się wiedzą/informacjami jest jedną z niezbędnych rzeczy skutecznej współpracy naukowej. W niniejszym badaniu zbadano rolę dzielenia się wiedzą/informacjami między członkami projektu w międzynarodowych projektach akademickich przez pryzmat teorii strukturacji. Badanie opiera się na półustrukturyzowanych wywiadach z 28 akademikami i badaczami z Indii, Norwegii, Polski i RPA, którzy brali udział w międzynarodowych projektach akademickich. Transkrypcje zostały zaimportowane do oprogramowania F4Analyse (wersja 3.4.5) i zakodowane. Badanie ujawnia trzy główne tematy: 1) znaczenie i wartość dzielenia się, 2) mechanizmy i platformy skutecznej komunikacji i dzielenia się oraz 3) dynamika interpersonalna i wyzwania w dzieleniu się. Każdy temat podkreśla krytyczne aspekty dynamiki w międzynarodowej współpracy akademickiej. Wyniki podkreślają złożoność i wyzwania w tych współpracach, takie jak dynamika władzy, potencjalne ryzyko dzielenia się i możliwość wykorzystania. Badanie prowadzi do wniosku, że proces dzielenia się wykracza poza samo rozpowszechnianie informacji, będąc głęboko zakorzenionym we wzajemnym szacunku, uznaniu wkładu i otwartości. Badanie to przyczynia się do głębszego zrozumienia dynamiki dzielenia się informacjami w ramach międzynarodowej współpracy akademickiej.

Celem pracy było zbadanie poziomu istotności oraz przyswojenia wybranych kompetencji wśród przedstawionych grup. W pierwszej części pracy zostały wyjaśnione pojęcia związane z projektem i zarządzaniem projektami oraz przedstawione zostały metody zarządzania projektami w oparciu o różnych autorów. Kolejno omówione zostały wyzwania z jakimi muszą się zmierzyć osoby zajmujące się pracą z projektami międzynarodowymi, a cały rozdział zakańcza charakterystyka poszczególnych kompetencji międzykulturowych. Drugi rozdział przedstawia organizację Strim jako przykład organizacji zajmującej projektami międzynarodowymi. Przedstawiona została struktura i charakter stowarzyszenia, przykłady realizowanych projektów, sposoby nawiązywania partnerstwa oraz rekrutacji uczestników. Rozdział ten daje pogląd na charakter Stowarzyszenia oraz specyfikę realizacji projektów międzynarodowych przez organizacje pozarządowe w oparciu o Program Erasmus Plus. Trzeci rozdział pracy stanowi identyfikację wybranych kompetencji międzykulturowych oraz określenie różnicy poziomu ich istotności i przyswojenia przez koordynatorów projektów i innych współpracowników organizacji Strim. Przedstawiona została metodyka badawcza, analiza wyników, wnioski oraz zakończenie. Praca została napisana ze względu na zainteresowania autorki oraz współpracę ze Stowarzyszeniem Strim i możliwość doświadczania obserwacji działań projektowych oraz praktycznego wykonywania poszczególnych zadań.
This thesis addresses the themes of intercultural competences in the implementation of international projects held by coordinators and not coordinators. The aim of the work was to examine the level of relevance and assimilate of selected competences among the groups presented. The first part of the work explained the concepts of project and project management and presented project management methods based on different authors. The challenges faced by people working with international projects have been discussed, and the entire chapter completes the characteristics of the individual intercultural competences. The second chapter presents Strim as an example of an organisation that works with international projects. The structure and character of the association, examples of projects being carried out, ways of establishing partnerships and recruiting participants have been presented. This chapter gives a view on the nature of the Association and the specificity of the implementation of international projects by NGOs based on the Erasmus Plus Programme. The third chapter of the work is the identification of selected intercultural competences and the determination of the difference in the level of their relevance and assimilating by project coordinators and other associates of strim. It presents the research methodology, analysis of results, conclusions and completion. The entire thesis was written due to the author's interest and cooperation with the Strim Association and the opportunity to experience observation of design activities and the practical performance of individual tasks.
