    Opis:
    The article looks into such features of modern electronic texts as intersemioticity and multimedia nature. Studying these features is essentially a new stage in researching intertextual relations; hence the article first turns to non-electronic texts, presenting on their basis the theoretical grounds of the notions in question, and only then proceeds to electronic texts tracing the evolution of the traditional conception of text. Electronic texts are regarded as multimodal, i.e. resulting from the synthesis of diverse semiotic objects and joining text and media in one syntagm. In order to distinguish the most common combinations of text and media, to explore the reasons why users combine them, and to establish their percentage ratios, the authors have conducted a social and linguistic study, whose results are analyzed in the article.

    Opis:
    The paper outlines a distinction between several allied notions related to intersemioticity, polysemioticity and translation, with examples pertaining to the indicated categories. It begins with an overview of how Roman Jakobson’s concept of intersemiotic translation has been re-interpreted and broadened to account for more types of transformations and for new modes of expression. Secondly, the non-identity of referentiality and transmutation is indicated. Next, the notion of intersemiotic complementation is proposed for instances that involve adding a new code to an existing work, rather than changing its code. A distinction is also drawn between intersemiotic translation and intersemiotic aspects orcontexts of interlingual translation (of a polysemiotic work or a verbal text which refers to non-discursive media). It is emphasized that it is this last category that deserves the attention of translation scholars, and some particular areas of interest are enumerated.

    Intersemiotic poetics and teaching literature The article is devoted to intersemiotic poetics derived from the theory of translation, that is the principle of translation described by Roman Jakobson (the interpretation of linguistic signs by means of non-verbal signs). From the reconstruction of research stances, changes in the concepts of the mind, and a new understanding of the processes of perception and metaphor, the Author relates the mechanisms of intersemiotic translation to borderline forms (ekphrasis and audio description) and the principles of teaching. By analyzing selected examples (Jacek Kaczmarski’s ekphrasis and editorial notes to Wisława Szymborska’s poem Utopia), she proves that after rejecting the principles of equivalence and similarity, while simultaneously maintaining the principle of causality, one may look for affinities in deeper semantic layers (amplification, addition) or engage in teaching literature, where intellectual precision is related to the shaping of emotions and skills involved in the multisensual reading of cultural texts.

    The author of the article discusses the case of Henri Michaux’s Mouvements, an artistically constructed book, as well as a ballet performance it inspired put on by Compagnie Marie Chaouinard, a Canadian ballet company. The author aims to explore the intersemiotic dimension of Mouvements in the intermedial aspect of a ballet performance. In the performance of Marie Chouinard, the intersemiotic dimension of Mouvements — co-created by words and signs — includes the intermedial dimension of the play, for which HM’s book is the main and sole inspiration. The silhouettes of the dancers become living, moving signs, which in an iconic way mimic the «movements» suggested by the author of Mouvements.

W przywołanym spektaklu w wymiar intersemiotyczny, jaki należy dostrzec w książce Mouvements — współtworzą go tu słowa poematu Mouvements i towarzyszące mu plastyczne znaki autorstwa HM — włącza się artystycznie przemyślany intermedialny wymiar spektaklu, dla którego książka HM stanowi główną i jedyną inspirację. To wykonywane na tle tych znaków HM baletowe spektakle Compagnie Marie Chouinard dopełniają tańcem tę nową artystyczną całość o intermedialny wymiar. Sylwetki tancerzy stają się żywymi, ruchomymi znakami, które w ikoniczny sposób naśladują sugerowane plastycznie przez autora Mouvements „ruchy”.
