Opis:
In a well-organized company, stock levels are precisely planned. In order to optimize inventory, various analyses of inventory usage are carried out in terms of them quantity and status. The work presents research on improving the method of managing inventory in the tire industry using the example of a selected company. The company operates warehouses in which tires for passenger cars and vans are stored. Products stored in warehouses ensure high standards. The company focuses on individuality and has a strong market position. The paper presents the results of the ABC and XYZ analysis that allow grouping tires by demand, value and number. The criteria for choosing the ABC/XYZ method are a simple way of use and low financial outlays, in contrast to such methods as MRP or just in time. Furthermore, calculations of such standards as rotation ratios for individual seasons and optimal inventory were carried out. The rotation indicator allows determine which goods are sold quickly and which goods are selling poorly, and therefore the costs associated with their storage are probably higher than from the sale of profits. As a result of the analysis, improvements were made to the inventory management system. The implementation of the proposed methods and tools for inventory management allowed the company to eliminate unnecessary inventories, reduce storage costs and minimize inventory control.

Opis:
The demand for wide range and precise information on forests promotes continuous development of forest inventory methods, owing to the fact that compilation of reliable data is prerequisite not only for improving forest management schedules but also planning land use and natural environment management. In the reality of contemporary forestry, a requirement to improve forest inventory methods stems from obligation to acquire information on broadly understood issues of forestry as well as the protection of nature and environment. The paper points out to the essential steps, as said by the authors, on the way to the improvement of now used forest inventory methods and calls attention to remote sensing technologies such as ortophotomaps and aerial lidar data. The revisions proposed concern gathering information on: site conditions, species diversity, forest stock range as well as sample size and work scope on sampling areas. At the same time, in view of surveying the dynamics of forest change, there is recommended the use of permanent observation plots, especially in mountainous forests.

Opis:
The aim of the study was to investigate the behavior of inventory investment in different productive sectors. The hypothesis of this article is expressed by the statement that the level of inventory in relation to other financial variables is stable, which can be the result of inventory control that is exercised by companies. The research was conducted on the basis of quarterly financial statements of 88 companies listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange in the period IQ 2007–IQ 2013. The statistical methods of data analysis (e.g. correlation analysis, mean, the coefficient of variation) were used to verify the hypothesis. This paper finds positive correlations between inventory and sales dynamics for most of analyzed sectors. Moreover, the analysis of indicators describing the relationship between inventory and other financial variables indicate their low volatility during the research period. However, there are differences in the level of these indicators, which might be caused by specificity of each sector. The findings of this paper lead to the conclusion that research on inventories should be conducted in order to find the factors affecting decisions on inventory investment.

Opis:
Inventory routing problems (IRPs) occur where vendor managed inventory replenishment strategies are implemented in supply chains. These problems are characterized by the presence of both transportation and inventory considerations, either as parameters or constraints. The research presented in this paper aims at extending IRP formulation developed on the basis of location based heuristics proposed by Bramel and Simchi-Levi and continued by Hanczar. In the first phase of proposed algorithms, mixed integer programming is used to determine the partitioning of customers as well as dates and quantities of deliveries. Then, using 2-opt algorithm for solving the traveling sales-person problem the optimal routes for each partition are determined. In the main part of research the classical formulation is extended by additional constraints (visit spacing, vehicle filling rate, driver (vehicle) consistency, and heterogeneous fleet of vehicles) as well as the additional criteria are discussed. Then the impact of using each of proposed extensions for solution possibilities is evaluated. The results of computational tests are presented and discussed. Obtained results allow to conclude that the location based heuristics should be considered when solving real life instances of IRP.

Opis:
This paper describes a methodology for inventory analysis and reduction, which was developed at the Department of Industrial Engineering, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Zilina. The methodology describes the optimal procedure for the application of basic analytical methods and tools in practice. The results of the analysis are in the algorithm linked to the subsequent actions realized to improve inventory management system and to minimize inventory level in the company. Described procedure is the result of methodology examination and verification in practical conditions of production enterprises. In the following sections of this paper, there are presented a comprehensive approach to the inventory analysis and the own algorithm, which contains 3 phases: inventory analysis on enterprise level, summary analysis of individual item groups and individual analysis of material items. In the last section, there are described examples of results from such analysis and conclusions. The presented approach is an attempt to create a universal procedure of analysis which integrates methods and tools described in various publications.

Opis:
Modern inventory control is anchored in vastly advanced and complex models, which require considerable computational efforts. In this paper, we use a mathematical model of an inventory system with large supply delay and control system in order to optimize goods flow in inventory systems. The paper proposes the use of automatic control systems to control the system for supplementary orders. A discrete-time, dynamic model of the warehouse system is assumed for the analysis. For the given model, two automatic control systems: adaptive and classical non-adaptive periodic inventory systems , are analyzed. The non-adaptive control system is well known in the literature and the second one is its extension. The parameters of the control system are tuned by minimizing the cost function using a genetic algorithm for the assumed scenario for the market demand. Results of numerical simulations of the dynamical system and selected results in the objective space are presented in the paper.

Opis:
The paper addresses a problem which traditional art history has thus far ignored, i.e. the examination of items listed in inventories of property. Art historians usually approach concrete works of art to textualize them, while they are helpless confronting items “hidden” behind a text. In the context of the “materiality turn,” inventories reveal their paradoxical character since they include “personal” information about individual objects. If one assumes that the inventory is an instrument used to examine the objects listed in it, one must also realize a basic paradox of approaching them via their purely textual representation. A growing interest of art historians in publishing historical sources, in particular inventories, should result in more reflection on the role assigned to texts and things by historiography. To answer the question how items listed in inventories are available to their readers, the author has made references to cognitive linguistics and epistemology, critiques of historical narrativism, and poststructuralism. Such a comprehensive frame of reference made it possible to analyze some problems of the theory of historical source analysis and the editing and publishing of source texts. A comparison of art history and history of material culture resulted in defining the expectations and limitations related to the study of property inventories conducted by both disciplines. The experience of object analysis, which is a key prerequisite of interpretation, has been described in reference to three cognitive terms: concepts, exemplars, and invariants. The scholar trying to use all the available sources to reach the object itself must take advantage of all his/her experience. Analysis is possible only in a context, while the meaning of concepts, i.e. brief entries about individual items, can be discovered only in a complex system of semiotic reference. Apparently, such analysis can never be objective.

Opis:
Inventory management is focused with ensuring that all activities involved in labor storage and stock control are carried out efficiently and economically by those working in inventory storage. Then, there is a question for management regarding the efficiency of inventory management procedures because of inconsistencies in inventory levels that cause weaknesses such as losses incurred due to end-inventory stocks, low stock inventories, failure to meet targets and poor corporate morale. As a result, the inventory storage of the company is too busy making the job a difficult supply keeper, late in issuing materials to the department and in turn producing poor inventory service delivery. In inventory management, Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) is the number of orders that minimize total holding costs and booking costs. The EOQ model is one of the oldest classic production scheduling models. The EOQ mathematical models have been established within the scope of operations management to determine the optimal inventory level. The most widely used model is the EOQ model.

Opis:
An analysis of dynamics of demand-inventory model with stock-level-dependent demand formulated as a three-dimensional system of difference equations with four parameters is considered. By reducing the model to the planar system with five parameters, an analysis of one-parameter bifurcation of equilibrium points is presented. By the analytical method, we prove that nondegeneracy conditions for the existence of Neimark-Sacker bifurcation for the planar system are fulfilled. To check the sign of the first Lyapunov coefficient of Neimark-Sacker bifurcation, we use numerical simulations. We give phase portraits of the planar system to confirm the previous analytical results and show new interesting complex dynamical behaviours emerging in it. Finally, the economical interpretation of the system is given.

Opis:
The paper presents an econometric evaluation of possibilities of effective control in a system of ‘transport-reserves’ type with an emergency supply. The system consists of one sender of resources and one receiver of resources, and has a stock reservoir, which secures continuous operation of the receiver even if there is a supply failure. The effectiveness of the system operation (in economical terms) was assessed on the basis of the so-called function of losses. The function takes into account the total system losses, which are connected with: resources supply costs, storage costs and emergency supply costs from external suppliers. The function of losses also accounts for additional profits resulting from the sale of the excess resources to external buyers. The detailed econometric analysis of the function of losses for different variants of the system operation provided a lot of practical conclusions, which make it possible (by means of appropriate choice of the parameters) to control the system in such a way that its operation is the most effective.
