Dziennikarstwo śledcze, czy sensacyjne? Cazus: morderstwa asystenta eurodeputowanego w Łodzi

Opis:: W niniejszej pracy podjęto próbę ustalenia tego, czy w obrębie publikacji na łamach najpopularniejszych portali internetowych, gazet codziennych i tygodników opiniotwórczych poruszających temat ataku na łódzkie biuro poselskie PiS i zabójstwa Marka Rosiaka z 19 października 2010 roku pojawiają się przykłady dziennikarstwa sensacyjnego, czy też rzetelnego dziennikarstwa śledczego. W tym celu obrano miesięczny okres czasu do analizy, tj. od 19 października do 19 listopada 2010 roku i przebadano łącznie 435 publikacji, które ukazały się w tym czasie na stronach serwisów informacyjnych czterech wybranych portali internetowych (Interia.pl, Onet.pl, TVN24.pl, Wp.pl), czterech wybranych tytułów gazet codziennych (Dziennik Gazeta Prawna, Dziennik Zachodni, Gazeta Wyborcza, Rzeczpospolita) oraz pięciu wybranych tygodników opiniotwórczych (Gazeta Polska, Newsweek Polska, Polityka, Przekrój, Wprost).W pracy udowodniono, że wśród wszystkich 435 analizowanych materiałów, tylko trzy były przykładami typowego dziennikarstwa sensacyjnego. Do analizy materiałów publikowanych w wybranych mediach użyto specjalnie skonstruowanego klucza kategoryzacyjnego odpowiednio dostosowanego do realiów panujących w portalach internetowych, gazetach codziennych, tygodnikach opiniotwórczych.Do przeprowadzenia analizy wybrane zostały najpopularniejsze polskie portale internetowe, tygodniki opiniotwórcze oraz gazety codzienne. Mając na uwadze grono ich stałych, a także potencjalnych odbiorców, redaktorzy i wydawcy powinni dbać o poziom merytoryczny publikowanych materiałów i stać na straży obiektywizmu dziennikarskiego. Analiza pokazała, że nie zawsze jest to konsekwentnie przestrzegane.
The aim of this study was to determine whether the publication within the pages of the most popular Internet portals, newspapers and opinion weeklies concerning the attack on Lodz PiS parliamentary office and Marek Rosiak murder of October 19. 2010, there are examples of sensational journalism or honest investigator journalism. For this purpose, a monthly period was choosen for analysis, from 19 October to 19 November 2010. In total 435 publications were examined, that have appeared at this timeon news websites four selected Internet portals (Interia.pl, Onet.pl, TVN24.pl, Wp.pl)four daily newspapers selected titles (Dziennik Gazeta Prawna, Dziennik Zachodni, Gazeta Wyborcza, Rzeczpospolita) and five selected influential weeklies (Gazeta Polska, Newsweek Polska, Polityka, Przekrój, Wprost).The analyses performed in this study proved that among all 435 studied materials, only three were typical examples of sensational journalism.The analyses were performed with the use of specially construsted key genre respectively adapted to the realities of Internet portals, newspapers and opinion weeklies. The most popular Polish Internet portals, magayines and influential newspapers were selected for this analysis. Taking into account the faithful readers and potential buyers of these magazines, the editors and publishers should take care of the level of substantive level of published material, as well as to uphold journalistic objectivity. Analysis has shown that it is not always consistently followed.

Opis:: In a process of continuously adjusting to and counteracting the circumstances of conflict since 2014, the Ukrainian media community has become polarized (Budivska & Orlova, 2017). Nygren et al. (2018) observe a confrontation between the ideal of neutrality in coverage and favoring “patriotic journalism” in practice among Ukrainian journalists. This article takes this discussion further and highlights the role of professional journalism associations and international organizations in the struggles within the journalism culture in the situation of conflict. The article uses Ginosar’s (2015) interpretation of Hanitzsch’s (2007) model of journalism culture and Mouffe’s (2013) conceptualization of agonistic vs. antagonistic struggle to discuss the project Two Countries — One Profession is initiated and supported by the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media. Finally, it draws on the reactions by the Ukrainian media community.

Opis:: The paper addresses the issue of explanatory journalism, which is becoming an increasingly popular and important form of communication in times flooded by verified information as well as misinformation and hoaxes. The study is of a theoretical character and critically evaluates knowledge from this area, placing emphasis on digitalization of journalism that has brought new communication instruments and platforms, thus increasing demands on information literacy and media education of a recipient. This phenomenon resulted in the establishment of several media projects aimed mainly at explaining complex terms or phenomena in a simple and comprehensive way or at interconnecting high-ranking state officials with influential businessmen. In the text, the authors address the role and status of explanatory journalism, its potential in relation to investigative journalism and data journalism - areas and topics that are urgent and beneficial for our society but are often difficult to comprehend for a reader due to their technicality and complexity.

Opis:: While it has generally been accepted that non-professional media actors empowered by novel digitally networked technologies are changing the media landscape in the West, this is less obvious in the case of sub-Saharan Africa. Recent years, however, have seen the emergence of a diverse range of citizen media in Africa, enabled by technologies such as mobile phones, blogs, micro blogs, video-sharing platforms and mapping. Through in-depth and focus-group interviews with selected experts and citizen journalism practitioners, as well as a review of the existing body of research, this study aims to identify emerging patterns and trends in African citizen journalism, paying particular attention to the Zimbabwean case. The research hopes to establish the notion that digital technologyenabled citizen journalism, although still restricted to a subset of African countries, provides a powerful counter-narrative to professional media that are often constrained, or even controlled, by national governments.

Opis:: The concept of slow journalism has evolved from the dissatisfaction with speed-driven journalism. Discussion about this form of journalism has revolved around what it is or should be, what its goals might be, what principles it should follow, and how. Although authors play an essential role in achieving its goals, there is a lack of empirical research about their motivation and practices. I interviewed 22 authors and conducted four observations in two slow journalism outlets in Estonia. The results show that the authors are motivated by contributing to society, their autonomy, and self-fulfillment, which they were often not afforded in other outlets. However, some journalists had difficulties switching from one set of principles and values to other and experienced problems with time management, storytelling, and self-motivation. Non-journalists may bring some advantages in following slow journalism principles and working with sources.

Opis:: Przedstawiony tekst dotyczy dziennikarstwa obywatelskiego w wymiarze lokalnym. W pierwszej części tekstu omówiono termin „dziennikarstwo obywatelskie”, podkreślając, że badacze odmiennie go definiują. Wskazano na takie istotne cechy dziennikarstwa obywatelskiego, jak oddolność czy publikowanie treści niezależnie od mediów głównego nurtu. Analizie poddano dwa przykłady: fanpage Olsztyn Żyje, a także serwis internetowy Olsztyńska 24, ponieważ stanowią one odzwierciedlenie panujących na polskim rynku medialnym tendencji. Z jednej strony można obserwować typowe dla dziennikarstwa obywatelskiego działania w pełni oddolne, a z drugiej – serwisy dziennikarstwa obywatelskiego zaczynają prowadzić koncerny medialne, co wydaje się zaprzeczeniem idei oddolności.
The presented text concerns the online journalism in the local dimension. In the first part of the text the term „citizen journalism” was described, with pointing that scientists define it in many ways. There were shown such important features of citizen journalism as grassroots character or publishing the content apart form mainstream media. The analysis are based on two examples: fanpage Olsztyn Żyje and the webpage Olsztyńska24, because they are examples of trends on the Polish media market. On the one side there is typical grassroots journalism, on the other side – media corporations (mainstream media) start to run services of citizen journalism, what seems to be a denial of the idea of citizen journalism.
