Tybetańscy egzegeci, być może pod wpływem silnych rodzimych wierzeń ujmujących świat korelatywnie, opracowali bardzo drobiazgowe listy zachowań fizycznych, werbalnych i mentalnych, wskazując je jako przyczyny nie tylko doświadczeń mentalnych, lecz nawet elementów ukształtowania terenu, klimatu itp. Artykuł zawiera m.in. nietłumaczony wcześniej na języki zachodnie tekst źródłowy autorstwa Taranathy, poświęcony różnym typom takich domniemanych powiązań przyczynowo-skutkowych.
The author of the article reviews the most important aspects of the law of karma as it operates in Tibetan Buddhism. Setting off with a well-known general Buddhist conception of an impersonal, natural power connecting intentional actions with subsequent experiences of an actor, the author presents its Tibetan ethicisation. Tibetan exegetes, perhaps influenced by strong native beliefs consisting in correlative world view, created very detailed lists of physical, verbal and mental behaviours, identifying them as the causes not only of mental experiences, but even the elements of the lie of the land, climate, etc. The article sums up, among presenting other materials, the original text by Taranatha, dedicated to various types of such supposed cause and effect correlations.

The development of Tibetan Buddhism in Poland on the example of Karma Kagyu schools
Rozwój buddyzmu tybetańskiego w Polsce na przykładzie szkół Karma Kagyu

Buddyzm tybetański pojawił się około VII wieku n.e. w Tybecie. Od tego czasu, wiele wydarzeń historycznych wpłynęło na jego współczesny kształt. Od pierwszej połowy XX wieku, buddyzm tybetański zaczął przekraczać granice geograficzne Tybetu trafiając do Ameryki i Europy. Celem niniejszej pracy jest prześledzenie drogi buddyzmu tybetańskiego do Polski i wskazanie możliwych czynników wpływających na wzrost zainteresowania szkołą karma kagyu. Autor dążył do zweryfikowania hipotezy mówiącej, że w XXI wieku nastąpił dynamiczny rozwój i wzrost zainteresowania szkołami kagyu w Polsce, który jest rezultatem szerokiego dostępu do informacji oraz przemian społecznych skutkujących m. in. pluralizmem religijnym. W tym celu autor zdecydował się na zaadaptowanie koncepcji nowych ruchów religijnych G. Davie, M. B. McGuire i T. Doktóra. Autor wykorzystał metody jakościowe, ponieważ pozwalają one na uzupełnienie badań o indywidualne motywacje uczestników i wskazanie dotychczas nie poruszanych w literaturze przedmiotu zagadnień. W wyniku przeprowadzonych badań, autor pracy uzyskał wiedzę pozwalającą na weryfikację hipotezy, a także wskazał zagadnienia, które mogą być przyczynkiem do dalszych badań w tym obszarze. Problematyczne okazały się kwestie związane z pozyskaniem osób chętnych do badań i pozyskaniem literatury związanej z tematem.
Tibetan Buddhism appeared around the 7th century C.E. in Tibet. Since then, many historical events have influenced its contemporary shape. From the first half of the 20th century, Tibetan Buddhism began to cross the geographical boundaries of Tibet and spread throughout America and Europe. The aim of this study is to trace the path of Tibetan Buddhism to Poland and to identify possible factors that have influenced the growth of interest in the karma kagyu school. The author sought to verify the hypothesis that in the 21st century there was a dynamic development of kagyu schools and an increasing interest in them in Poland, which is the result of wide access to information and social changes resulting, among others, in religious pluralism. For the purpose of the study, the author decided to adopt the concept of new religious movements by G. Davie, M. B. McGuire and T. Doktóra. The author used qualitative methods because they allow to supplement the research with the individual motivations of participants and to indicate issues that have not been discussed in the literature so far. As a result of the research, the author of the work has gained knowledge that allows for the verification of the hypothesis, and also indicated issues that may be a contribution to further research in this area. The only issues that appeared during the study were related to the acquisition of people willing to participate in the research and obtaining literature related to the topic.

Opis:
The article is based on the author’s personal and long-year experience gathered while observing and living the life in India. The text addresses the problems and struggles of elites of a society on the crossroads of various civilisations. In addition, it touches upon often contradictory visions of the world and social order, which does not prevent any of them from finding space to perfect specific aspects of spiritual life. In India, we can see very clearly how two planes and two levels of Indian culture – the philosophy of life and the art of life – cross and, at the same time, blend with each other. The most general aspect of these considerations results from the common essence that permeates Indian culture and skills of co-existence. Its contributions to global culture are: a unique view, cognition and evaluation of the world. It also added a more profound interest in mankind than in other cultures, supported by the intellectual effort to explore what conditions its being, and what can decondition that being. As a result of that interest, deepened throughout dozens of centuries, the Indian philosophy proposes a notion of the human being that is wider than in the European tradition. Moreover, it also advances methods and techniques of upbringing of the young generation so that it would manifest a conscious attitude to the tradition and art of life in the broadest meaning of the word, and be able to build a balance between the self – the microworld – and the macroworld in a peaceful and disciplined manner.

Illness narratives in the esoteric vision of the world : Agnieszka Pilchowa’s views and concepts

The article is an attempt to reconstruct and present the illness narratives formulated by Agnieszka Pilchowa (1888-1945), a clairvoyant and healer from Wisła (Silesia). Although alternative medicine was widespread in Poland in the interwar period, especially in the esoteric milieu, concepts like the one created by Pilchowa did not appear often. Pilchowa presented a consistent, yet at the same time fully mythologized vision of the world, which would answer questions about the source of evil, suffering, and illness. The article describes the most important traits of Pilchowa’s vision, focusing on those elements that create the picture of illness and show the process of its healing. The article is a pioneering one Agnieszka Pilchowa and her ideas have not been the subjects of any research so far.

Les références à la notion du Karma abondent dans l’œuvre romanesque d’Ananda Devi, figure féminine majeure de la francophonie littéraire de l’océan Indien. Ces références évoquent un destin tragique en rapport avec l’idée d’exil pour la communauté indienne installée à l’île Maurice à la faveur de la traversée du Grand Océan. Or, cette traversée des « eaux obscures » (Kala pani) est un tabou, une malédiction dans l’hindouisme. Installés dans l’espace insulaire de Maurice, les indo-descendants que présentent les œuvres de Devi vivent une sorte d’éternel retour de cette malédiction originelle, la communauté se sentant châtiée par un sentiment de déracinement, qui rappelle sans cesse le lien indéfectible avec la mère patrie la culture ancestrale. À partir de deux romans du cycle dit hindouisant d’Ananda Devi, et en prenant appui sur les travaux de Mircea Eliade (2009) sur les symboles et les structures mythiques, cette étude ambitionne de montrer que la mort est une figure de réincarnation dans une nouvelle vie. L’analyse conduit ainsi à comprendre que le Kala pani est un espace-temps tragique, en même temps, qu’il est un espace-temps d’immersion purificatrice, et de renaissance symbolique dans l’imaginaire des exilés que la romancière met en scène.
References to the notion of karma abound in the fictional work Ananda Devi, a major female figure in the literary Francophonie of the Indian Ocean. These references evoke a tragic fate in connection with the idea of exile for the Indian community installed in Mauritius through the crossing of the Great Ocean. However, this crossing of “dark waters” (Kala pani) is a taboo, a curse in Hinduism. Installed in the island area of Mauritius, the Indo-descendants presented by Devi’s works experience a sort of eternal return from this original curse, the community feeling chastened by a feeling of uprooting, which constantly recalls the indestructible link with the mother country the ancestral culture. Based on two novels from the so-called Hindu cycle of Ananda Devi, and drawing on the work of Mircea Eliade (2009) on mythical symbols and structures, this study aims at showing that death is a figure of reincarnation in a new life. The analysis thus leads to understand that the Kala pani is a tragic space-time, at the same time, that it is a space-time of purifying immersion and of symbolic rebirth in the imaginary of the exiles that the novelist stages.

Praca stanowi próbę opracowania technologii produkcji produktów dla zwierząt domowych o strukturze gąbczastej. Stwierdzono, że dodatek sorbitolu do ekstrudowanej mieszanki pozwala na zwiększenie elastyczności gotowego produktu.
The work is an attempt to develop a production technology for products of spongy structure intended for domestic animals. It was found out that adding sorbitol to extruded mixture allowed to increase elasticity of finished product.
