Opis:: Aerial photographs taken from kites provide a versatile and low-cost means to acquire high-resolution, large-scale imagery for special Quaternary investigations. Kite aerial photographs (KAP) are typically taken from heights of 50-150 m using light-weight automatic cameras. Pictures may be acquired in vertical and oblique vantages. Scanning of photographs and digital processing allow for resampling, enhancement, and analysis of images. We have utilized basic KAP at five sites in eastern and northern Poland in order to evaluate the potential of KAP for Quaternary investigations. Our preliminary results suggest that KAP may provide detailed and repetitive imagery of geomorphic conditions, soils, land cover/use, and other surface features related to Quaternary processes, landforms, and deposits. However, KAP will not replace conventional aerial photography for general survey and mapping purposes.

Opis:: A kite factorization of a multipartite graph is said to be gregarious if every kite in the factorization has all its vertices in different partite sets. In this paper, we show that there exists a gregarious kite factorization of K_m × K_n if and only if mn ≡ 0 (mod 4) and (m − 1)(n − 1) ≡ 0 (mod 2), where × denotes the tensor product of graphs.

Opis:: In this paper we observe that the minimal signless Laplacian spectral radius is obtained uniquely at the kite graph $PK_{n-\omega,\omega}$ among all connected graphs with $n$ vertices and clique number $\omega$. In addition, we show that the spectral radius $\mu$ of $PK_{m,\omega}$ $(m\geq1)$ satisfies $$\frac{1}{2}(2\omega-1+\sqrt{4\omega^{2}-12\omega+17})\leq\mu\leq 2\omega-1.$$ More precisely, for $m>1$, $\mu$ satisfies the equation \[ \mu-\omega-\frac{\omega-1}{\mu-2\omega+3}=a_m\sqrt{\mu^2-4\mu}+\frac{1}{t_1}, \] where $a_m=\frac{1}{1-t_1^{2m+3}}$ and $t_{1}=\frac{\mu-2+\sqrt{(\mu-2)^{2}-4}}{2}$. At last the spectral radius $\mu(PK_{\infty,\omega})$ of the infinite graph $PK_{\infty,\omega}$ is also discussed.

Opis:: This paper explores the topic of violence as it is represented in Khaled Hosseini’s The Kite Runner (2003). The aim is to look at the possibilities of representing violence in the fictional context. The novel is analyzed accordingly, through its characters and acts in order to see violence structures in the small narratives of each characters and the main narrative itself. For this purpose, disnarration is applied as a narratological approach.
Эта статья исследует тему насилия в том виде, в каком она представлена в книге Халеда Хоссейни «Бегущий за ветром» (2003). Цель состоит в том, чтобы взглянуть на возможности представления насилия в этом вымышленном контексте. Соответственно, я проанализирую роман по его персонажам и действиям, чтобы увидеть структуры насилия в небольших повествованиях каждого персонажа и в самом основном повествовании. Для этого я в первую очередь буду применять разобщение как нарратологический подход.

The study was conducted in the years 1989-1993. The Black Kite fed primarily on birds and fish. Red Kite - on birds, mammals and carrion, the White-tailed Eagle - almost exclusively on birds and fish, and the Lesser Spotted Eagle on small mammals, birds and frogs. The White-tailed Eagle was the most specialised species. Its food niche breadth was smallest among the studied species and food taken in water habitats accounted for 95% of its diet. The Black Kite had the widest food spectrum in terms of the frequency of prey while the Red Kite - in terms of the biomass consumed. The mean body mass of prey specimens taken by the White-tailed Eagle was 578 g, by the Red Kite - 235 g, the Black Kite - 230 g, and the Lesser Spotted Eagle - 34 g. The food niches of both Kites and the White-tailed Eagle strongly overlapped. The smallest overlap was between the food niches of the two Eagles and between the Lesser Spotted Eagle and the Black Kite.
