Opis:: The author of the article defines school communicative situation as the one requiring from the student an ability to use specialised language known as the language of school education. According to regulations currently in force, improving the fluency in the said language is a task of teachers of all school subject because knowing it is one of the conditions of attaining educational success. The article presents a proposal to work on a summary that includes the determinants of school education language.

Opis:: The number of migrant children at Polish schools is increasing. They should use the Polish language not only to communicate at school and beyond, but also to understand the world. In order to achieve this goal certain actions must be taken because the development of the necessary communicative and cognitive skills does not occur spontaneously. The article presents the specificity of the term language of education, distinguishing it from language of everyday communication, and proves its importance for children’s educational achievements. The article author also proves the necessity of distinguishing between shaping the linguistic communicative skills and cognitive language proficiency.

Opis:: The number of students with migrant experiences at Polish schools is increasing. This group includes both foreign students and Polish students coming back from emigration together with their parents. They receive educational support in order to facilitate their adaptation and integration. Those students are taught how to communicate at school and study in Polish, which means that they are taught the language of school education. Teaching the language of school education can be located in between foreign language didactics and native language didactics. The article describes the relation between teaching Polish as a language of school education and teaching Polish as a foreign language. The most important aspect of teaching a foreign language is to prepare a learner to communicate in everyday life and professional life situations. Efficiency is essential here; language correctness is of secondary importance. The most important element in the process of teaching the language of education is to develop the language skills that will enable a student to communicate at school, gain new knowledge and use it effectively. It requires different educational content, teaching methodology and requirements. The knowledge of the vocabulary of early school-age children learning Polish abroad is one of the most important determinants of the level of their language proficiency. The paper presents the situation of Polish language teaching in the United States of America and Ukraine. Additionally, the paper discusses the status of the language among people of Polish origin. The author describes the preliminary results of the research on lexical competence of students: semantic fi elds with the largest lexical deficit among the children compared to their peers in Poland.

Opis:: Celem niniejszego artykułu jest studium porównawcze polszczyzny uczniów arabskiego pochodzenia, którzy uczęszczają do jednego z łódzkich liceów. Porównania dokonano z dwóch perspektyw – nauczyciela języka polskiego jako rodzimego oraz glottodydaktyka-językoznawcy. W tym celu wykorzystano wypracowania typu maturalnego pisane przez uczniów w trakcie lekcji języka polskiego, do których oceny wykorzystano kryteria maturalne (obowiązujące w formule od roku 2015). Wyniki te osadzono w szerszej perspektywie językoznawczej, uwzględniając znajomość poszczególnych podsystemów języka. Jednakże to właśnie ocena maturalna polszczyzny uczniów wydaje się kluczowa, ponieważ egzamin maturalny (a nie egzamin z języka polskiego jako obcego) stanowi cel dla uczniów.
The aim of this article is a comparative study of the Polish language of two students of Arabic origin who attend one of the high schools in Lodz. The comparison was made from two perspectives – from the perspective of the teacher of Polish as a native language and the perspective of the teacher of Polish as a second language. For this purpose, the author used the examination essays written by students during Polish language lessons, for the assessment of which the criteria for the matura exam were used (criteria applicable from 2015). These results were embedded in a linguistic perspective, taking into account the knowledge of language subsystems. However, it is the assessment of the Polish language of students in accordance with the criteria of the matura exam that is important because this exam (not the exam in Polish as a foreign language) is the goal of the students.

Opis:: The article presents the results of an educational research project implemented in the school year 2018/2019 in selected primary schools in urban environment (Łódź). The aim of the study was to diagnose Janusz Korczak’s “educational moments” in designing the process of developing cultural competence. The investigator appeared in the role participant as an observer (the researcher came from the examined environment and had the opportunity to “blend into” the events). The material came from participant observation. The observation embraced practical and socio-cognitive activity of the pupils. The results allow recognition in how a child, applying language, marks its being in the world, how it acts via language, how it uses language to reach the mysteries of the world and what it does with language during this operation. The final comment suggests that school is there to help a child to interpret the world, to recognize various phenomena, to assume attitudes towards them, and to make their independent evaluation.

Joannę Kulmową, pilną czytelniczkę dzieł Starego Doktora, wiąże z Januszem Korczakiem językowe praktykowanie autobiografii. Łączy się ono także z językiem wczesnej edukacji, o którym jest mowa we wstępie i zakończeniu artykułu. Podtytuł „Prolegomena” nie jest więc przypadkowy, ale zapowiada kolejne, obszerniejsze opracowanie na ten temat.
The article is an introduction to further reflections on common pedagogical thoughts and linguistic connections present in the works of Joanna Kulmowa and Janusz Korczak. According to the author, both Korczak and Kulmowa prove to be leading representatives of childhood pedagogy, which relates to Korczak’s right of children to respect as well as the child’s right to literary escapism manifested by Kulmowa. Joanna Kulmowa, a diligent reader of the Old Doctor’s works, is associated with Janusz Korczak by the linguistic practice of autobiography, which, in its turn, is linked to the language of early childhood education mentioned in the introduction and the conclusion of the article. The subtitle „Prolegomena” is therefore justified. This is a preview of another, more extensive elaboration on this subject.
