School as a learning organization

The aim of this paper is presenting the key assumptions concerning development of vision of the learning organization. The source of data are results of external evaluation conducted under pedagogical supervision. School is a place where it is actually possible to impact the shape of the Society. Each person goes through education stages, so the universality enables the actual impact on generating social change. Education in Poland is unappreciated as a place of shaping the personalities and attitudes - there is far more favourable to put on the knowledge and intellectual abilities rather than human social and psychological potential. The Minister of National Education of the Republic of Poland, on October 7th 2009 in the Regulation on pedagogical supervision determines the requirements being set out by the State for schools, which indicate the direction of schools activities. This depends on the school whether these tools will be used and by the evaluation will truly reflect its functioning or will stay at the "threshold" of evaluation passively responding to the posed questions. In order to face the challenges, schools have to identify the level they satisfying the current needs and realities. Hence, the subject of this paper will be a topic connected with the development of learning organization at school.

This article concerns the practice of conducting research by Polish public cultural institutions that seek to gain insight about themselves. Thus, the article fits into two theoretical areas of management sciences: learning organizations and knowledge management. We ask why in the opinion of cultural institutions is it worth (or not) conducting independent research? In search of answers, we conducted two complementary studies: a netnography-inspired online query of secondary sources regarding research conducted by Polish cultural organizations; and a survey among 392 such organizations that did or did not conduct research in 2016–2020. The collected material allowed us to discover that certain cultural organizations welcome research, treating it as an opportunity to obtain relevant information, introduce changes, and streamline operations. On the other hand, there are organizations that perceive research as a futile endeavor due to certain objective factors, mostly their own limited resources and the reluctance of potential respondents.

Background. The importance of learning in and by organizations has since long been recognized by academic and practitioner scientists for both business and public sector organizations. In particular in the last decades interest in organizational learning has been growing. There are important reasons for considering the acquisition of knowledge in public service organizations. Research aims. The paper reviews the state of research evidence in the field. The main question of this study is how important it is for employees in public sector to acquire the knowledge and use their full potential in the workplace and whether these organizations Methods. The main source of empirical data is carried out by the authors of the study in public sector organizations. Key findings. The study was conducted using a questionnaire survey. The research shows high expectations related to knowledge acquisition opportunities in the workplace and partial fulfilment of these expectations by the subject organizations.

Leadership, to be effective must be adapted to the circumstances and groups of people with whom managers have to deal, and which have lead. The article indicates the important role of leadership in organizations and then equally from management. Organizations that wish to be learning organizations require a completely different style of leadership than the one to which accustomed over the period of their durations. Learning organizations can and even should be stimulated through effective leadership. Leadership in learning organziations is a continual process that starts from noticing the necessary changes in managers, to induce a willingness to change attitudes among all members of the organization.

Opis:
Modern school, depending of its function, is consider as institution, social system or organisation. Its widespread criticism gives us space for discussion about school of the future. The author presents home education as an alternative to prevailing education system. Theoretical considerations about the school of the future are connected with the idea of a learning school taken from the concept of the learning organization. The article leaves space for discussion by asking questions and encouraging to deepen scientific research on the state of education in Poland, the home education and the vision of the school of the future.

Background. Culture as the sole of each organization is examined itself or in different management concepts. Many studies identify culture as a main dimension in the organizational learning process or in learning organizations, both in the private and public sector. However there is a lack of research focusing on municipalities, especially in transformed countries. Ongoing changes in the task of imposed by the government as well as those resulting from the European grants cause needs for appropriate culture which is one learning organization dimensions in the light of theory. Research aims. This paper explores which variables shaping organizational culture are important for the local municipalities in relation to their scope and to propose their consistent typology for the state of art in research in the example of a transformed country. Methods. A questionnaire survey was conducted among 670 municipalities, with response rate of 26,7% of total population. The questionnaire was filled in by one official from each municipality, who takes one of the following position: mayor, deputy mayor or municipality secretary. Key findings. The analysed research results clearly demonstrate that the level of culture in the rural municipalities is higher than in the urban rural municipalities and urban municipalities. It could be observed, inter alia, that high-rang officials (head of division or mayor) tend to be afraid to talk about their mistakes and there is hardly any atmosphere for constructive remarks.
