Opis:
Extraction of MOSFET parameters is a very important task for the purposes of MOS integrated circuits characterization and design. A versatile tool for the MOSFET parameter extraction has been developed in the Institute of Electron Technology (IET). It is used to monitor the technologies applied for fabrication of several groups of devices, e.g., CMOS ASICs, SOI pixel detectors. At present two SPICE MOSFET models (LEVEL = 1, 2) have been implemented in the extraction tool. The LEVEL = 3 model is currently being implemented. The tool combines different methods of parameter extraction based on local as well as global fitting of models to experimental data.

Opis:
The problem of nonparametric regression function estimation is considered using the complete orthonormal system of trigonometric functions or Legendre polynomials $e_k$, k=0,1,..., for the observation model $y_i = f(x_i) + η_i $, i=1,...,n, where the $η_i$ are independent random variables with zero mean value and finite variance, and the observation points $x_i\in[a,b]$, i=1,...,n, form a random sample from a distribution with density $ϱ\in L^1[a,b]$. Sufficient and necessary conditions are obtained for consistency in the sense of the errors $\Vert f-\widehat f_N\Vert, \vert f(x)-\widehatf_N(x)\vert$, $x\in[a,b]$, and $E\Vert f-\widehatf_N\Vert^2$ of the projection estimator $\widehat f_N(x) = \sum_{k=0}^N\widehat{c}_ke_k(x)$ for $\widehat{c}_0,\widehat{c}_1,\ldots,\widehat{c}_N$ determined by the least squares method and $f\in L^2[a,b]$.

The algorithm of the strict adjustment of horizontal geodetic networks using least square adjustment method is well known and widely described in the literature. Referring to the Regulation of the minister of administration and digitization of 14 February 2012 on geodetic, gravimetric and magnetic control networks, which is in force in Poland, the authors draw attention to the important provision contained in this Ordinance: Observa-tions should be adjusted using a rigorous adjustment, based on least square adjustment method, assuming zero variance for references points. Assumption of zero standard deviations for references points causes that, despite net-work adjustment process is rigorous, results obtained, both adjusted coordinates and the assessment of the accuracy of the coordinates, depend on the method of establishing the network, the number of points and the actual accuracy of references points. On the ex-ample of the small test network, there was demonstrated how important differences can be. The only solution to the problem of the ambiguity of the results of strict network ad-justment is taking into account the accuracy of references points. It should be noted that the coordinates of references points can be a result of adjustment of various networks in various time periods, so they can be determined with various precision. Taking into ac-count this fact can only be done by determining reliable relationship between weights of observations and coordinates of references points.

Opis:
For the tuning of servo controllers as well as for monitoring functions, significant parameters of the controlled system are required. In contrast to identification methods with determined input signals, the paper focuses on the problem of identification with regular process movements (non-invasive identification), leading to a lack of power density in some frequency ranges. A nonlinear Least Squares (LS) approach with single mass system and friction characteristic is investigated regarding the accomplishable accuracy and necessary constraints. The proposed method is applicable on industrial motion controllers and has been carried out with a multitude of input sequences. To verify the performance of the approach, achieved experimental results for the model parameters are exposed.

Opis:
A new optimization method presented in this work – the Least m-Order Central Moments method, is a generalization of the Least Squares method. It allows fitting a geometric object into a set of points in such a way that the maximum shift between the object and the points after fitting is smaller than in the Least Squares method. This property can be very useful in some engineering tasks, e.g. in the realignment of a railway track or gantry rails. The theoretical properties of the proposed optimization method are analyzed. The computational problems are discussed. The appropriate computational techniques are proposed to overcome these problems. The detailed computational algorithm and formulas of iterative processes have been derived. The numerical tests are presented, in order to illustrate the operation of proposed techniques. The results have been analyzed, and the conclusions were then formulated.

Opis:
General conditions for convergence rates of nonparametric orthogonal series estimators of the regression function f(x)=E(Y | X = x) are considered. The estimators are obtained by the least squares method on the basis of a random observation sample (Y_i,X_i), i=1,...,n, where $X_i ∈ A ⊂ ℝ^d$ have marginal distribution with density $ϱ ∈ L^1(A)$ and Var( Y | X = x) is bounded on A. Convergence rates of the errors $E_X(f(X)-\widehat f_N(X))^2$ and $\Vert f-\widehat f_N\Vert_∞$ for the estimator $\widehat f_N(x) = \sum_{k=1}^N\widehat c_ke_k(x)$, constructed using an orthonormal system $e_k$, k=1,2,..., in $L^2(A)$ are obtained.

Opis:
The report is focused on the presentation of current methods allowing for the approximation of point sets by means of ideal mathematical surfaces, as well as on the analysis of their suitability depending on the type of the object approximated and the complexity of the methods. The advantages and disadvantages of these methods have been compared with the capabilities offered by splines. Also, the application of the various variants of LSM have been discussed with reference to the minimization of the algebraic distance, the distance directed along a specific axis of the coordinate system and the geometrical distance. Finally, cases where the application of particular methods is justified with respect to accuracy and cost-effectiveness have been analyzed.
Następnie przybliżono zastosowanie różnych wariantów metody najmniejszych kwadratów w odniesieniu do minimalizacji odległości algebraicznej, odległości ukierunkowanej wzdłuż konkretnej osi układu współrzędnych oraz odległości geometrycznej. Przeanalizowano również, w jakich przypadkach zastosowanie poszczególnych metod ma uzasadnienie dokładnościowe i ekonomiczne.

Opis:
It is very known that if the operator d/dx acts on each term into a convergent Fourier series (FS) then it may result a divergent series. This situation is remedied applying the symmetric derivative to FS, which implies the existence of the important Fejér-Lanczos factors. In this note, we show that the orthogonal derivative also leads to these factors.
