Opis:: Individual systems of values are important factors shaping attitudes and behavior of human beings. The major part of people’s lives is professional work. The character and diversity of labor within recognized values often impact human choices in their professional and private life. In our own research, we have tried to discover similarities and differences of individual systems of values. We chose, as our research sample, employees with higher education, who work in management and executive positions in organizations in Lower Silesia.

Tytuł:: Workaholism components in relation to life and work values

Opis:: Two studies were conducted to examine the association of two workaholism components (drive to work and work enjoyment) with life and work values. Study 1 examined whether life values that are lower on the ideal value hierarchy predict the drive to work; and whether life values that are higher on the hierarchy predict work enjoyment. Study 2 tested the hypotheses that extrinsic work values predict the drive to work, whereas intrinsic work values predict work enjoyment. The results of study 1 showed that moral values, which represent higher order life values, were negatively correlated with the drive to work and positively correlated with work enjoyment. Work enjoyment was also negatively associated with vital values, which have a low position on the ideal life values hierarchy. Hypotheses about the relationships between the two workaholism components and life and work values were not fully confirmed.

Opis:: Celem niniejszego artykułu było zbadanie deklaracji wychowanków Młodzieżowych Ośrodków Wychowawczych dotyczących ich wartości rodzinnych i życiowych. Rozważania zostały oparte na wynikach badań przeprowadzonych w 2019 roku. Przyjęłam w nich hipotezę, że w badanej zbiorowości chłopcy znajdujący się w ośrodkach będą częściej niż dziewczęta deklarować posiadanie wartości hedonistycznych i akceptować zachowania sprzeczne z prawem, podczas gdy dziewczęta w większości będą wskazywać na wartości witalne i rodzinne. Z przeprowadzonych autorskich badań wynika, że zaistniały niewielkie różnice pomiędzy deklaracjami obydwu płci, które świadczą, że chłopcy wykazują większą tolerancję wobec niewłaściwych zachowań oraz identyfikują się głownie z wartościami związanymi z życiem pełnym rozrywek i pieniędzy. Tym, co łączy chłopców i dziewczęta, jest wysoka pozycja wartości rodzinnych. Jest to zgodne z wynikami innych badań obecnych w literaturze przedmiotu. Wartościami, które od lat deklarują Polacy jako najważniejsze, są miłość, zdrowie i rodzina. Potwierdzają to wyniki przeprowadzonych badań.
The purpose of this Article was to examine the declarations of the pupils of the Youth Educational Centres concerning their family and life values. The research method used in this work is a survey, which was conducted in 2019. In my deliberations, I hypothesized that in the study group, boys in centres would be more likely than girls to declare they possess hedonistic values and accept illegal behaviour, while girls would mostly point to vital and family values. Author’s research shows that there were slight differences between the declarations of both sexes, which show that boys have a greater tolerance for inappropriate behavior and identify mainly with the values associated with a life full of entertainment and money. What unites boys and girls is the high position of family values. This is in line with the results of other studies present in the literature of the subject. The values that Poles have declared most important for years are love, health and family. This is confirmed by the results of the studies carried out.

Opis:: The article presents the conceptual approaches to the upbringing in the education of life-meaningful values of teenagers and early adolescence in Ukraine. The definition of life-meaningful values has been given up. The major problems and contradictions in the upbringing of the Ukrainian children were paid attention to. The dependence of the result of upbringing, from the desire and the participation of all actors: children, parents, teachers is pointed out. Conceptual approaches to education of life values meaning are analyzed on the methodological, theoretical and practical levels. The aspects of the previous researches have been underlined. In this context, a systematic approach determines the integrity of the educational process in primary and high school. Synergetic approach combines the organization and self-organization of the growing personality. Humanistic approach recognizes each child's highest value at school, family, and society. Personal-centered approach provides individual attention to him, to free choice of that or other life-meaningful values. Activity approach provides practice and deed activity of children and shows how the value of the meaning of life affects the behavior of the individual. The theoretical level of substantiation of the concept of education of children of teenagers and early youth gives ability to define key points and concepts. Practical level implies the corresponding experimental activity, the determination of appropriate pedagogical conditions, the selection of content, forms and methods of education of teenagers and early adolescence. Conceptual approaches offer the opportunity to develop a modern system of education of the values of the meaning of life of teenagers and early adolescence in Ukraine. Implementation of conceptual approaches aimed at qualitative changes in the education of life-meaningful values among of teenagers and early adolescence.

Tytuł:: The impact of cognitive activation sensitivity to values and a sense of independence for the meaning of life.

Opis:: This work is an attempt at experimental verification of the libertial-valuegrounded theory of meaning of life created by Ostrowski (2008). The aim of the study was activation two variables: sensitivity to values and a sense of independence by the texts and measured their impact on the meaning of life. During the activation of cognitive structures in order to increase accessibility to the areas corresponding to the values and independence, were used the text of "Desiderata" and the text of the song "Freedom" by Mark Grechuta. The study was conducted by dividing respondents into experimental group numbering 73 people (including 35 men and 38 women) and the control group consisted of 75 people (including 35 men and 40 women). Experimental test procedure based on a reading of the text and filling in questionnaires by the experimental group, at the same time the control group filled the questionnaires without knowing the activating material. The study used the Questionnaire Sense of Independence, Values Questionnaire and Sense of Life Questionnaire. Statistical verification of hypothesis only confirmed the assumption of regarding the activation a sense of independence after reading the text of song "Wolność" which was written by Mark Grechuta. It didn't confirm assumptions about the impact of the text "Desiderata" on sensitivity to value. It also didn't bring changes in the level of sense of meaning in life despite an increase in the sense of independence.
Niniejsza praca stanowi eksperymentalną weryfikację założeń libertalo-walorycznego modelu poczucia sensu życia Ostrowskiego (2008). Podjęto próbę aktywizacji przy pomocy tekstów dwóch zmiennych: wrażliwości na wartości oraz poczucia niezależności mierząc jednocześnie ich wpływ na poczucie sensu życia. Podczas aktywizacji struktur poznawczych w celu zwiększenia dostępności do obszarów odpowiadających za wartości i niezależność, posłużono się tekstem „Dezyderaty” oraz tekstem piosenki „Wolność” autorstwa Marka Grechuty. Badanie eksperymentalne przeprowadzono z podziałem badanych na grupę eksperymentalną liczącą 73 osoby (w tym 35 mężczyzn oraz 38 kobiet) oraz grupę kontrolna liczyła 75 osób (w tym 35 mężczyzn oraz 40 kobiet). Eksperymentalna procedura badawcza opierała się na przeczytaniu tekstu i wypełnieniu kwestionariuszy przez grupę eksperymentalną, w tym samym czasie grupa kontrolna wypełniała kwestionariusze bez zapoznania się z materiałem aktywizującym. Do badania użyto Kwestionariusza Poczucia Niezależności, Kwestionariusza Wartości oraz Kwestionariusza Poczucia Sensu Życia. Statystyczna weryfikacja hipotez potwierdziła jedynie założenie odnośnie aktywizacji poczucia niezależności po przeczytaniu tekstu Marka Grechuty Wolność. Nie można było potwierdzić założeń odnośnie wpływu tekstu „Dezyderaty” na wrażliwość wobec wartości. Jak i nie można stwierdzić zmiany w poczuciu sensu życia mimo wzrostu poczucia niezależności.

Opis:: W artykule badano poziom zadowolenia z 21 różnych dziedzin życia 300 respondentów z terenu województwa wielkopolskiego w wieku 30 lat i więcej. Niniejszą analizę od innych tego typu badań różni to, że satysfakcje cząstkowe zostały ważone przez określoną subiektywnie przez respondentów istotność dziedzin, dla których mierzono tę satysfakcję. W toku analiz okazało się, że badane osoby były najbardziej zadowolone ze swojego życia prywatnego, życia jako rodzic oraz niezależności. Najmniejsze zadowolenie badani czerpią zaś z aktywności społecznej, ale jest to przede wszystkim efekt braku znaczenia tej sfery życia w hierarchii respektowanych wartości życiowych. Ponadto zauważono, że w ramach poszczególnych dziedzin istnieją pewne czynniki powodujące wzrost prawdopodobieństwa bycia osobą bardziej zadowoloną niż inni. Szczególnie silnie na zróżnicowanie satysfakcji z życia wpływają cechy osobowości. Bycie osobą towarzyską, nieobwiniająca innych, sumienną, nieskłonną do denerwowania się oraz otwartą na nowe doświadczenia zwiększa prawdopodobieństwo osiągnięcia wysokiej satysfakcji z życia (szczególnie w sferach społecznych), natomiast posiadanie cech z drugiego bieguna skali osobowości to prawdopodobieństwo obniża.
The study examines the level of satisfaction with 21 different areas of life among 300 respondents from Wielkopolska voivodship at the age of 30 and over. What distinguishes this analysis from other such studies is the fact that when examining partial satisfaction, it was weighed by, specified subjectively by respondents, the importance of the areas for which this satisfaction was measured. In the course of the analysis, it turned out that the respondents were the most satisfied with their private life, life as parent and independence. The smallest satisfaction of the respondents derives from social activity, but it is above all the effect of the lack of meaning of this sphere of life in the hierarchy of respected life values. In addition, it has been noticed that within individual fields there are certain factors that differentiate probability of being more satisfied for some categories of people in comparison with others. Especially personality traits strongly affect the diversity of life satisfaction. Being a social person, trusting other people, being conscientious, peaceful and open to new experiences increase the probability of being a more satisfied person (especially with social areas) and having traits from the second pole of the personality scale reduces this probability.

Przedmiotem artykułu jest określenie znaczenia kariery zawodowej dla młodych ludzi i jej pozycji wśród innych wartości ważnych w życiu oraz czynników istotnych w karierze zawodowej. Opracowanie ma charakter teoretyczno-empiryczny. Podstawowym źródłem danych empirycznych były badania ankietowe przeprowadzone wśród 530 osób młodych z województwa podlaskiego.
The traditional paradigm of a professional career not only does not fit to current organizational reality, but to a significantly greater extent to the characteristics of employees, the next generation of which is entering the labor market. It is believed that work is not a value in and of itself for the young generation. It is considered as being only a base for achieving other values such as personal development and the pursuit of a passion. The subject of this article is the determination of the importance of a career for young people and its position among other values that are important in life. The main source of empirical data consists of surveys carried out among 530 young people of the Podlaskie Voivodeship.

Opis:: Artykuł prezentuje wyniki badań nad wartościami życiowymi i wartościami ideologicznymi ukraińskich studentów w Polsce. Badania zostały zrealizowane metodą sondażową wśród ukraińskich studentów studiujących na Podkarpaciu. Badana próba liczyła 250 respondentów. Zebrane obserwacje wskazują, iż badana młodzież preferuje wartości związane ze zdrowiem i bezpieczeństwem materialnym rodziny oraz autonomią ekonomiczną i osobistą. W sferze wartości ideologicznych ujawniają się silne dążenie do sukcesu i indywidualizm. Badani studenci mają orientacje egalitarne i etatystyczne. Ani socjalizm, ani kapitalizm nie zyskuje u nich szerokiego poparcia. Częściej zgadzają się na demokrację. Kapitalizm, demokracja, indywidualizm częściej uwidaczniają się wśród studentów z wyższymi zasobami ekonomicznymi, kulturowymi, statusowymi, którzy po skończonych studiach nie chcą wracać na Ukrainę.
The article presents the results of research on life values and ideological values of Ukrainian students in Poland. The research was conducted with the use of the survey method among Ukrainian students studying at non-state and state universities in the Podkarpacie region. The research sample consisted of 250 respondents. The collected data indicates that the young people prefer values connected with health and financial stability of the family as well as economic and personal autonomy. Within the sphere of ideological values, a strong drive for success and individualism is observed. The surveyed students are egalitarian and etatism-oriented. Neither capitalism nor socialism gains their support. They agree for democracy more often. Capitalism, democracy, individualism are more often shown among students of higher economic, cultural and social rank, who upon graduating do not want to return to Ukraine.
