Opis:: This paper presents research on the mould slag formed on the basis of two mould fluxes. In the conducted industrial experiments, slag was sampled in equal time intervals between adding subsequent portions of mould flux. The research focused on the an evaluation of the stability of slag parameters by assessing the change in its liquidus temperature. It was shown that a mould flux needs to be assessed individually taking into account the casting process parameters and the steel cast grade.

Opis:: Praca dotyczy badania temperatur przemian fazowych (temperatur solidus i likwidus) z użyciem różnych metod analizy termicznej. Obecnie kluczowymi metodami analizy termicznej są: różnicowa analiza termiczna DTA, skaningowa kalorymetria różnicowa oraz „bezpośrednia” analiza termiczna TA. Praca przedstawia podstawowe zasady, charakterystykę, zalety, wady i wyniki uzyskane przy użyciu tych trzech, bardzo często stosowanych metod. Przedstawiono wyniki z zakresu wysokiej temperatury (powyżej 1000°C) z naciskiem na zakres topnienia i krzepnięcia stali. Omówiono wyniki uzyskane przy zastosowaniu wspomnianych metod podczas procesu nagrzewania/chłodzenia, z uwzględnieniem różnych obciążeń analizowanych próbek i innych czynników, które mogą wpływać na uzyskane wyniki. Podano ocenę krzywych nagrzewanie/chłodzenie DTA i DSC. Porównano i omówiono uzyskane temperatury solidus i likwidus.
The paper deals with the study of phase transition temperatures (solidus and liquidus temperatures) with the use of different thermal analysis methods. Currently, the key thermal analysis methods are DTA (Differential Thermal Analysis), DSC (Differential Scanning Calorimetry) and ‘direct’ thermal analysis (TA). The study presents the basic principles of these methods, their characteristics, advantages, disadvantages and results obtained with these three very often used methods. There paper presents results from the high temperature region (above 1000°C) with the focus on the melting and solidifying region of real steel grade – multicomponent alloy. The paper discusses results obtained with the three mentioned methods at heating/cooling process, with different loads of analysed samples and other factors that can influence the obtained results. The evaluation of heating/cooling curves, DTA and DSC – curves at heating and cooling is demonstrated. The obtained solidus and liquidus temperatures are compared and discussed.

Opis:: A brief description of the innovative mathematical method for the prediction of CET – localization in solidifying copper and copper alloys’ ingots is presented. The method is to be preceded by the numerical simulation of both temperature field and thermal gradient filed. All typical structural zones were revealed within the copper and copper alloys’ massive ingots or rods manufactured by continuous casting. The role of thermal gradient direction for the single crystal core formation has been enlightened. The definition for the index describing proportion between volume fraction of the columnar structure and volume fraction of the equiaxed structure has been formulated by means of the interpretation of some features of the liquidus isotherm velocity course. An attempt has been undertaken to apply the developed mathematical method for the structural zones prediction in the rods solidifying under industrial conditions. An industrial application has been shown, that is, it was explained why the innovative rods should be assigned to the overhead conductors in the electric tractions.

Opis:: This paper deals with the mathematical modeling of physicochemical properties of mold slag such as: viscosity, surface tension, temperature liquidus, basicity. Computer simulation of slag viscosity was made by the Nakamoto structural model. The effect of addition CaF₂ to the mold slag was estimated by using of Urbain model. The results were compared with the results of the experiment. Surface tension for the basic slag composition: CaO - SiO₂ - Al₂ O₃ was calculated with using Nakamoto model. The results of calculations indicate that the content of the SiO₂ lowers the surface tension, but increase the content of CaO and Al₂ O₃ in the slag increases its value. Calcium fluoride (CaF₂ ) reduces the viscosity of the slag. The increase in temperature reduces the viscosity of the slag, simultaneously increasing the surface tension.
Praca zajmuje się modelowaniem właściwości fizykochemicznych żużli krystalizatorowych. takich jak: lepkość, napięcie powierzchniowe, temperatura liquidus, zasadowość. Korzystając z modelu strukturalnego Nakamoto obliczono lepkość żużla. Wpływ dodatku CaF: na lepkość określono wykorzystując klasyczny model Urbainá. Uzyskane z obliczeń wyniki porównano z wynikiem eksperymentu. Korzystając z modelu Nakamoto obliczono napięcie powierzchniowe żużla dla podstawowego układu tlenkowego: CaO - SiO₂ - Al₂ O₃ . Wyniki symulacji komputerowych wskazują, że zawartość SiCh obniża napięcie powierzchniowe żużli, z kolei równoczesne zwiększenie zawartości CaO i Al₂ O₃ powoduje wzrost tej wielkości. Wyniki modelowania wskazują, że dodatek CaF: oraz wzrost temperatury obniżają lepkość, z kolei podwyższenie temperatury powoduje wzrost napięcia powierzchniowego.
