Opis:: The major underlying principle of the present paper is that, in opposition to the viewpoint of emotions as discrete entities, emotions are represented as clusters in conceptual space. The graded structure and fuzzy boundaries inherent in the prototype-periphery nature of these clusters dictate that the meaning of a specific emotion is governed by both inter- and intra-cluster relationships and their interactions. In addition to these relationships and interactions the paper examines both external and internal affects to compare and contrast the FEAR, COMPASSION, LOVE/JOY, and PRIDE clusters in British English and Polish. The three specific methods employed to analyze these are the GRID instrument, an online emotions sorting task, and a corpus-based cognitive linguistic methodology.

Feelings in language - an image of love in Slovak phraseology and paremiology

Opis:: In my diploma thesis I raise the problem of the linguistic image of the world, especially the language image of love based on phraseology and paremiology of the Slovak language. The aim of this work is to show the different images of love that appear in Slovak phraseology and paremiology. This thesis emphasizes…”the diversity of presented images and also to refers to images of love that emerge from biblical texts. This issue has not been investigated so far, and due to its richness deserves a deeper analysis. The work was divided into three chapters. The first one is devoted to the analysis of selected feelings and emotions. Here are presented present the psychological features, language connotations and the way in which a given feeling is expressed in language. It presents happiness, joy, hatred, anger and jealousy, discusses the examples of love that were presented in the biblical parables. Then it deals with the analysis of love in terms of psychology and sociology. In the last research chapter of the work there is the analysis and interpretation of various examples of love contained in Slovak paremiology and phraseology. Thanks to the diversity of the subject of the research, it was possible to describe, among other things, the image of unhappy, stupid love, but also love that accompanies people in everyday life or parental love. Due to the differences between the cited examples, it was possible to present the image of love in all its glory, both its positive and negative aspects. The thesis shows phraseology and paremiology present a universal and still vivid image of feelings and, above all, of love that is present in human life.
W pracy dyplomowej zajmuję się problematyką językowego obrazu świata, a konkretnie językowego obrazu miłości na podstawie frazeologii i paremiologii słowackiej. Celem mojej pracy jest ukazanie różnych obrazów miłości, jakie pojawiają się w słowackich frazeologizmach oraz w przysłowiach. Chcę podkreślić różnorodność przedstawionych obrazów, a także nawiązać do obrazów miłości, które wyłaniają się z tekstów biblijnych. Ta problematyka nie została dotychczas zbadana, a ze względu na swoje bogactwo zasługuje na głębszą analizę. Praca została podzielona na trzy rozdziały. Pierwszy z nich jest poświęcony analizie wybranych uczuć i emocji. Prezentuję tutaj rys psychologiczny, a także konotacje językowe i sposób, w jaki dane uczucie jest wyrażane w języku. Zajmuję się analizą uczuć takich jak szczęście, radość, nienawiść, gniew i zazdrość. Dalej omawiam przykłady miłości, jakie zostały zaprezentowane w przypowieściach biblijnych. Następnie zajmuję się analizą miłości w ujęciu psychologiczno-socjologicznym. W ostatnim, badawczym rozdziale pracy zajmuję się analizą i interpretacją różnych przykładów miłości zawartych w słowackiej paremiologii i frazeologii. Na podstawie analizy zgromadzonego materiału wyłoniło się kilkanaście ujęć tego uczucia. Dzięki różnorodności przedmiotu badań udało się opisać między innymi obraz: miłości nieszczęśliwej, ogłupiającej, ale także miłości, która towarzyszy nam w życiu codziennym lub miłości rodzicielskiej. Dzięki zróżnicowaniu przywołanych przykładów udało się przedstawić obraz miłości w całej jej okazałości, czyli zarówno jej pozytywne, jak i negatywne aspekty. W swojej pracy pokazałam, że frazeologia i paremiologia prezentują uniwersalny i nadal żywy obraz uczuć, a przede wszystkim miłości, która jest obecna w ludzkim życiu.

Opis:: The purpose of this article is to present the development of Thomas Aquinas’sconcept of joy in the subsequent parts of Summa theologiae. Beginning with thedescription of joy as simple movements of the soul, Thomas comes to present theconcept of spiritual joy, which is fundamental to the human visio beatifica. Therefore,the article is divided into three parts, which discuss Aquinas’s accounts ofjoy: Prima secundae, Secunda secundae and Tertia pars. The first part focuses onthe inclusion of joy as experience and feeling. Joy here is understood as one of thefeelings of the sensitive power is considered in the perspective of human emotionality(vis concupiscibilis). Joy that comes from satisfying the lack of sensory goodsis called pleasure (delectatio). It differs from the joy of affection (gaudium) – theintellectual and spiritual affrct, to which the second part of the article is dedicated.Spiritual joy does not include the sensory-corporal component, and it superimposesitself over purely intelligible beings. Thomas clearly emphasizes that only Godcan be the cause of spiritual joy. This perspective allows Aquinas to develop hisconcept of theology of joy in the next part of Summa (III pars), which is devotedin the last part of this text. The emotionality of Christ is the central problem forThomas here. These considerations throw a lot of light not only on the supernaturalapproach to joy, but also on the ways in which joy – the fruit of the Holy Spirit canbe experienced by a human being in hac via.

Opis:: The paper presents the poems by Nikolay Karamzin (1766–1826), which refer to hope. They include the following groups of texts: 1) reflection poems: To myself (1795), The song (1795), The hope (1796), To an unfaithful (1796), Sorrow and joy (1797), The coast (1802); 2) occasional poems: about the Tsar Pavel I (1796), about G. Khovanski (1796) and about P. Pelski (1803); 3) poems touching upon the life of a poet and poetry: To a poor poet (1796) and The talents (1796). Some poems are autobiographical (The coast was written after the death of Karamzin’s first wife). The hope, which is based on a comparison of a human’s life to a journey, is considered the most meaningful of his texts. According to Karamzin, life is filled with joy and sorrow, expectation and disappointment, but hope makes the plans easier to achieve, and brings a man closer to the goal. The meaning of his poems is optimistic after all. Karamzin’s letters to Ivan Dmitriev, a poet and a friend, serve as an interpretive background in the article.

Opis:: Artykuł dotyczy przeżywania szczęścia w sytuacjach skrajnie trudnych, podczas pobytu w sowieckich lub hitlerowskich obozach. Autorka tekstu zastanawia się, czy jest możliwe doświadczenie radości w takich warunkach, ale również czy możemy szczęście rozumieć jako ulotne chwile, niezwiązane w żaden sposób z dobrym, pomyślnym życiem. Wspomnienia więźniów są świadectwem, że jest to możliwe. Chwile szczęścia i radości miały ogromną wartość, pomagały więźniom przeżyć.
The paper considers the problem of happiness in extremely difficult situations, faced by people living in Soviet or German Nazi camps. The author of the paper asks whether it is possible to experience joy in such conditions, but also, if happiness can be understood as fleeting moments, not related in any way with successful life. Memories of prisoners are evidence that this is possible. Moments of happiness and joy were of great value, as they helped the prisoners to survive.

Opis:: The work focuses on finding the answer to the question, whether the concept of love affair with the text described by Jan Błoński is needed by the Polish school. The work was divided into three parts. The first was entirely devoted to crease, which is why the school motivates to read. The second part contains an approximation of the figure of Jan Błoński and an analysis of both the introduction to "Romance with the text" and "The Pleasure of the Text" by Barthes. The last part presents areas in Polish education that can be looked at through the perspective of love affair with text and proposals for educational activities that create opportunities for establishing love affair with text at school and outside.
Praca skupia się na znalezieniu odpowiedzi na pytanie, czy koncepcja romansu z tekstem opisana przez Jana Błońskiego jest potrzebna polskiej szkole. Praca została podzielona na trzy części. Pierwsza została w całości poświęcona zaganieniu, po co szkoła motywuje do czytania. W drugiej części znajduje się przybliżenie postaci Jana Błońskiego oraz analiza zarówno wstępu do "Romansu z tekstem", jak i "Przyjemności tekstu" Barthes'a. Ostatnia część przedstawia obszary w polonistycznej edukacji, którym można się przyjrzeć przez pryzmat romansu z tekstem oraz propozycje działań edukacyjnych, które stwarzają okazje do nawiązywania romansów z tekstem, w szkole i poza nią.

Opis:: The article attempts to respond to Pope Francis’s appeal to deepen Marian dimension of life and the young people’s mission in the Church and the world. The aim is to demonstrate that the example of young Mary is credible for them because she accompanies them on the path of their calling as the one who herself gained such experience earlier. Following in her footsteps, the young can bring in the beauty of youth to the Church, they can help renew the Church in order for her to become ever younger. Quoting pope Francis, I put emphasis on the four model qualities of Mary for the young to imitate, i.e.: faith, hope, brotherly love, and joy. These mark out the basic structure of my reflections. They spring from the apostolic exhortation Christus vivit for the young, from the three most recent papal addressees to the World Youth Days, and from papal speeches occasioned by the opening and closing of the Synod on young people. There are also references to ordinary Pope’s teaching on Mary, a girl, who helps the young people discern and courageously embrace their life vocations.
Artykuł jest próbą odpowiedzi na apel papieża Franciszka o zgłębianie maryjnego wymiaru życia i misji młodych w Kościele i świecie. Chodzi o ukazanie, że przykład młodej Maryi jest dla nich wiarygodny, bo towarzyszy im Ona na drodze realizacji powołania jako Ta, która sama wcześniej zdobyła doświadczenie podążania nią. Krocząc Jej śladami, młodzi mogą wnieść do Kościoła piękno młodości i pomóc mu odnawiać się, aby stawał sie ustawicznie młody. Na kolejnych stronicach uwydatniam – za Franciszkiem – cztery elementy wzorczości Maryi dla ludzi młodych: wiarę, nadzieję, braterską miłość i radość. Wyznaczają one zasadniczą strukturę refleksji. Bazą wyjściową jest dla nich adhortacja apostolska do młodych Christus vivit, papieskie orędzia na trzy ostatnie Światowe Dni Młodzieży i przemówienia papieskie wygłoszone na rozpoczęcie i zakończenie Synodu o młodzieży. Nie brakuje także odniesień do zwyczajnego nauczania papieża o Maryi, młodej dziewczynie, która pomaga młodym w odważnym odkrywaniu i przyjmowaniu życiowego powołania.

Opis:: L’autore dell’articolo prende di mira i frutti dello Spirito analizzandole come virtù presentate da Paolo nella lettera ai Galati. Dopo le analisi iniziali, riguardanti la terminologia, contesto e il numero delle virtù, si nota la presenza di una antitesi tra il corpo (sarks) e lo Spirito (pneuma), però percepita in modo semitico. Nel punto centrale vengono sviluppati ed approfonditi i singoli frutti dello Spirito. Si tratta delle singoli analisi – piuttosto esegetici – di seguenti termini: amore, gioia, pace, longanimità, bontà, benevolenza, fiducia, mitezza, padronanza di sé. La conclusione è l’unica, cioè le virtù costituenti il catalogo apparso in Ga 5,22-23 compongono un solo frutto dello Spirito che si riferisce immediatamente allo Spirito Santo.

In the apostolic exhortation Amoris laetitia Pope Francis presents the ways of strengthening conjugal bond – they are meant as the tasks for spouses and as indications for pastoral workers. These ways include: the ability to notice God’s acting in conjugal love, the effort of taking proper care of and of developing conjugal friendship and the care for the joy of love combined with the joy of experiencing and admiring the beauty and holiness of the other spouse. Pope Francis highlights the necessity to appreciate the role of the institution of marriage which consists in concrete demands that determine the firm decision of the mutual affiliation of the spouses. He encourages to maintain constant care for growing and development of conjugal love as it is immersed in the eternal love of God. He notices the importance of the conjugal dialogue and gives advice on how to lead it so that it would be beneficial for the development of mutual love of spouses. He also indicates the need for the integration of emotional life with love and the concern of the spouses for their mutual conjugal life to make it the unconditional and selfless mutual gift of self.

The main purpose of this Bachelor Thesis is to present the most important music groups from Manchester, which contributed to development of English music culture. The focus was on the period from 1960 until 1997, nevertheless the first chapter is dedicated to history of Manchester before 1960. The thesis contains description of the phenomena, such as Punk, Rave or Madchester to present the impact of music trends on cultural changes taking place in Manchester and Great Britain. The results of the study confirm that Manchester was an exceptional city, in terms of music scene and influence on British culture.
