Opis:
The aim of this research was to determine the influences of meteorological and hydrogeological factors on the water level of a rainwater storage and infiltration reservoir. The examined reservoir is located in the urban and industrial area of Krakow, on ground owned by the Polish State Railways (PKP), Kraków-Bieżanów branch. We analyzed a range of climatic (precipitation and evaporation) and hydrological factors (water stage in the reservoir and groundwater level) and their inter-relationships to determine their influences on the water depth regime in the storage and infiltration reservoir. Based on our results, the increase in the water table level in the reservoir is connected with the increase in the groundwater level and it is observed in the spring and summer periods, when meltwater and stormwater enter the reservoir. At the end of July, the groundwater table level increases because of excessive rainfall events. Throughout the entire experimental period, the reservoir was fed by infiltering groundwater from the upper parts of the basin. The water depth averages in the reservoir were closely correlated with the average groundwater table levels, the sum of precipitation from the week prior to the date of the examination of water depth in the reservoir, and the sum of potential evaporation in the given week.

Opis:
The article is a descriptive study of micro and small enterprises (MSEs) in the city of Tehuacán, Mexico. The analysis of the responses to a questionnaire, enable us to understand the management practices that have allowed the companies to survive in the long term, remaining as MSEs. In the survey carried out in 2023, 67 cases were considered. 46 MSEs were identified that had been founded before the year 2000 and twenty-one in that year. However, the publication aims to study are the cases of MSEs that have survived for more than ten years in the markets where they are located. The Mexican government has recognized that MSEs have a useful life of less than 8 years, and that once reached, MSEs grow and jump to the next level of business size or otherwise, they reach a closing point resulting from the increase in costs above the marginal income line, and their exit from the market. Descriptive statistics measurements were performed, a normality test was run, and linear regression was developed to understand the perceptions of their business line. Selected results are presented that show why these businesses have achieved longevity in their regional market.

Opis:
Three profile pits were sunk along a toposequence of basaltic soils in Ikom, Cross River State to determine their morphological and physicochemical properties. The profile pits were morphologically described and thirteen (13) soil samples were collected from different horizons of the profiles for physicochemical analysis. Morphologically, the soils were deep and well drained with no concretions. The colour of the surface soils varied between dark reddish gray (5YR4/2) and dark brown (7.5YR 3/2) to dark reddish brown (5YR 3/4), while that of the subsurface varied between red (2.5YR 4/6) to reddish brown (2.5YR 4/4). The soils had sub-angular blocky structure of different grades and classes with predominantly clayey texture in the Ap horizons and very gravelly clayey texture in the Crtg horizons. The chemical analysis revealed that exchangeable Ca2+ was the most dominant cation amongst the exchangeable bases. The soils were low in total nitrogen, organic carbon, available phosphorus and very high in base saturation. The study showed that the soils are moderately fertile and as such, a lot has to be done to improve their fertility status through the application of organic and inorganic fertilizers with good management practices such as mulching with crop residue after harvest, sowing of crops at low density per hectare, conservative tillage, strip cropping, crop rotation and shifting cultivation to ensure sustainable productivity.

The major purpose of this research paper is to examine supply chain management practices as a strategic tool for third-party logistics firms’ performance: by presenting practical and theoretical advantages by reviewing the corresponding literature, and also by proposing more forward-looking studies. A literature review was developed to help today's supply chain managers and analysts to thoroughly scrutinize what was already recognized as well as what requires further research. The research broadens, from a centered company perspective, the understanding of supply chain management practices as a tactical resource for success of third party logistics firms, as well as limitations for future studies. This research paper presents a comprehensive analysis of the literature to develop a proposed general framework for a strategic tool research initiative to perform TPLs' supply chain management practices. The research paper provides perspectives into deficiencies in current practices of supply chain management, along with the progress of third party logistics sector literature. The research paper proposes specific research into the logistics process, as it relates to planned and current performance. The research paper makes a series of important literary contributions. First, it provides the first comprehensive analysis of the fundamental concepts used throughout the current supply chain management activities research in relation to the performance of third party logistics companies. Indeed, when carrying out a similar exercise, the approach used to conduct the systematic literature review may be used as a guide for future investigators. Current research is aimed at providing a researcher who meets the needs of modern business leaders.

Purpose – The aim of the study was to identify HRM practices in the area of knowledge management applied in Polish innovative enterprises and their relationship with the enterprises’ innovation.Design/Methodology/Approach – The paper presents results of a study covering innovative enterprises operating in Poland. The questionnaire study was conducted among managers responsible for HRM in the enterprises.Findings – The following aspects were supported among HRM practices regarding knowledge management in the studied companies: employees’ creativity, work groups and project teams. Relationships were identified between specific HRM practices in knowledge management and creative, talented workers and management cadre constituting internal sources of innovation, effectiveness of innovation process phases, and the scale of novelty of implemented innovations.Research limitations/implications – The weakness of the presented studies can be observed in sampling. The sample encompassed businesses manifesting various scopes of implemented innovations (from global to organization innovation) and representing various industries.Practical implications – The findings of this study may be used by companies interested in implementing innovations in the organization. Results of the study indicate that the more innovations in knowledge management were implemented, the greater the number of these originated internally, the innovative process took a more effective course, and the scope of innovations was broader.Originality/value – The study applied an original set of HRM practices and a multi-dimensional approach to organizations’ innovation. The assessment of the degree to which HRM practices in knowledge management are applied in innovative businesses is also valuable.Article type – Research paper.

Artykuł wskazuje na dobrostan pracowniczy zarówno w aspekcie jednostkowym, jak i w szerszym wymiarze – jako istotny czynnik mający wpływ na realizację celów, które stoją przed organizacją. Przedstawiono korzyści wynikające ze zwiększenia dobrostanu w pracy tak dla pracowników, jak i pracodawcy. Uwzględniając cechy pracy określone w witaminowym modelu Warra, koncepcjach Blancharda i Waltona, dokonano próby ukazania praktyk zarządczych, które mogą mieć pozytywny wpływ na dobrostan pracowników. Analizie poddano działania zarządcze w czterech sferach: delegowanie uprawnień – rozumiane jako przekazanie przez przełożonego części funkcji zarządzania; kontrola pracy – na bieżąco sprawowana przez przełożonego, mająca na celu zapewnienie prawidłowego przebiegu realizowanych procesów w ramach organizacji; ocena pracy i rozwój zawodowy; przestrzeganie zasad i norm etycznych zarówno w stosunku do zatrudnionych pracowników, jak i klientów. W każdym analizowanym obszarze wskazano rolę kadry kierowniczej w budowaniu dobrostanu pracowników oraz potrzebę zwiększania świadomości kadry zarządzającej w zakresie wpływu działań zarządczych na dobrostan pracowników. W tym kontekście podkreślono znaczenie kompetencji komunikacyjnej kadry kierowniczej wszystkich szczebli zarządzania, która jest podstawą budowania klimatu zaufania i współpracy pomiędzy przełożonym a podwładnym, jak również wewnątrz zespołu pracowniczego.
The article points to the well-being of staff both on the individual level but also on a larger scale as an important factor affecting the implementation of the objectives faced by the organisation. Taking into account the characteristics of the paper as defined in Peter Warr’s vitamin model, Blanchard’s and Walton’s concepts, we are trying to show the management practices that can have a positive impact on the welfare of employees. We analysed management activities in four areas: delegation – understood as the transfer of the superior part of the management functions, work control – currently performed by the superior, aimed at ensuring the proper conduct of the processes within the organisation, evaluation of work and professional development, and respect for the principles and ethical standards, both in relation to employees, as well as office customers. In each case, the analysed area indicates the role of managers in building welfare of their workers and the need to increase the awareness of the management in the field of management actions on the welfare of workers. In this context, the importance of communicative competence of the executives at all levels of management is highlighted, which is the basis for building proper atmosphere of trust and cooperation, both between superiors and subordinates, as well as inside the team of employees.

The Human Resource Management is usually the source of sustainable competitiveness in the constantly changing environment and business world. There is no doubt about the impact of the HRM tools and HRM practices on performance. HRM practices can be clustered into the bundles according the model AMO, focusing on the abilities, motivation and opportunities to perform. This paper tests the correlation between the ability-enhancing HRM practices and the determinants of the individual performance. The research was conducted in IT industry in Slovak Republic with the aim to understand the relationships between HRM practices and individual performance. The outcome provides an important message for the HR management in order to influence and manage employee performance with the focus to create competitive advantage of the organization.

Purpose: The primary objective of this paper is to examine the transformative effects of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0) on marketing and management practices, using Nokia Poland as a case study. The research aims to understand how Industry 4.0 technologies can be leveraged to navigate challenges and capitalize on new opportunities within the telecommunications sector and beyond. Design/methodology/approach: The research adopts a qualitative case study approach, focusing on Nokia Poland to explore the application and impact of Industry 4.0 technologies in a real-world corporate setting. Data collection methods include semi-structured interviews with key Nokia Poland executives, analysis of company documents, and review of relevant literature on Industry 4.0. The study is framed within the broader theoretical context of digital transformation and innovation management. Findings: The results show that Nokia Poland has effectively incorporated Industry 4.0 technologies to boost effectiveness introduce product solutions and enhance customer interaction. Essential technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT) artificial intelligence (AI), and digital twins have enabled faster. The study emphasizes the role of embracing a strategy for digital transformation that involves cultural shifts, skill enhancement, and collaboration, within the ecosystem. Research limitations/implications: The study scope is restricted to examining a telecommunications company potentially overlooking the experiences and approaches prevalent in other sectors. To gain an understanding of Industry 4.0 adoption future research should explore comparative analyses spanning various industries and regions. Additionally, the study highlights the importance of exploration in the changing landscape of technologies and their impact on businesses. Practical implications: The findings of this research provide advice for businesses starting their Industry 4.0 transformation. Suggestions involve creating a defined plan allocating resources to skills and technology and fostering collaborations in the innovation network. Additionally, the paper explores the business and marketing framework of Industry 4.0, highlighting opportunities for increased competitiveness and expansion in the market. Social implications: The research suggests that Industry 4.0 has significant implications for workforce development, requiring upskilling and reskilling initiatives to prepare employees for new digital roles. Additionally, the paper considers the potential of Industry 4.0 technologies to drive sustainable business practices and contribute to societal well-being through improved product quality and accessibility. Originality/value: This paper contributes to the existing literature by providing an in-depth case study of Industry 4.0 implementation in a leading multinational company. It offers practical insights and strategies for managing digital transformation, with a particular emphasis on the value of integrating advanced technologies in marketing and management.

Celem artykułu jest identyfikacja działań (praktyk) zarządczych wpływających na dobrostan pracowników i zwrócenie uwagi szczególnie na te spośród nich, które występują w newralgicznych obszarach zarządzania: bezpieczeństwa pracy, delegowania uprawnień, kontroli pracy, oceny pracy i rozwoju zawodowego oraz przestrzegania zasad i norm etycznych. Przyjęto tezę, że dobre zarządzanie, tj. podejmowanie właściwych decyzji, które przełożą się na konkretne działania i efekty, polega na pogodzeniu imperatywu produktywności organizacji z podwyższaniem dobrostanu pracowniczego (well-being) przy utrzymaniu strategicznej perspektywy organizacji. Dobrostan pracowniczy ujęto zarówno w wymiarze jednostkowym, jak szerszym – jako istotny czynnik mający wpływ na osiąganie celów organizacji. Przedstawiono wynikające ze zwiększenia dobrostanu pracy korzyści dla pracowników, jak i dla pracodawcy. Uwzględniając cechy pracy określone w witaminowym modelu Warra oraz w koncepcjach Michonia Blancharda i Waltona, dokonano próby ukazania praktyk zarządczych, które mogą mieć pozytywny wpływ na dobrostan pracowników. Aby osiągnąć tak nakreślony cel, wykorzystano takie metody badawcze, jak: analiza wyników badań poprzedników oraz rezultaty własnych badań empirycznych nad warunkami humanizacji pracy i czynnikami motywacji pracy (Kozioł, 2011). Ze względu na ograniczone ramy artykułu poruszono jedynie wybrane, ważniejsze wątki badawcze, zwłaszcza te, które dotyczą relacji między kierownikiem a podległym mu pracownikiem.
The aim of this article is to identify management practices which influence employees’ well-being, paying particular attention to those affecting key aspects of management. This includes work safety, delegating responsibilities, work control and evaluation as well as professional development and safety rules. The adopted thesis suggests that good management, which means making decisions resulting in concrete actions and effects, is based on the compromise between the productivity and the well-being of employees, without affecting the strategic goals of an organization. The article points out the importance of employee well-being as an important factor influencing the objectives of an organization. The article illustrates the benefits of employee well-being for both employees and an employer. Taking into account the characteristics of work described in Warr’s Vitamin Model and concepts discussed by Michon, Blanchard and Walton, the article undertook an attempt to discuss management practices which can have a positive impact on employee well-being. To achieve the aim of this article, the following research methods were applied: analysis of the existing literature as well as analysis of own research results on the conditions for humanizing work and motivators to work. Due to the limited scope of the article, only the most important research aspects have been discussed, especially those related to employee – manager relations.
