Opis:: Ludzie zajmujący się nauką nie są już tylko autorami. Stali się członkami jednoosobowych zespołów zajmujących się również stroną techniczną redagowanych przez siebie prac. W artykule tym wspomniano, jak bardzo zmienił się świat ludzi składających wzory. Podano podstawowe zasady składu wzorów matematycznych oraz przedstawiono typowe błędy.
No longer scientists are only authors. They have unconsciously become also members of one-man-teams who have to care how their work looks like. In this paper, basic rules of typesetting concerning mathematical formulas are described. There are presented some typical mistakes which are done while typesetting maths.

Opis:: The teaching and learning of mathematics is done mainly by solving specially selected tasks. The most significant are those which contribute to the development of mathematical reasoning in students. In this paper, we present the results of the research carried out to check the extent to which students’ and teachers’ reasoning (correct and incorrect) coincide with each other. The obtained results indicate that certain incorrect strategies are so common to students and teachers that we can talk about a kind of pedagogical inheritance. Probably, some teachers teach in the same way as they were taught, unconsciously pushing their students to the path of faulty solutions.

Pavel A. Florenskij was an authentic giant of both scientific and theological culture, explicitly recognized as one of the great masters of religious thought in the Encyclical Fides et ratio by Pope John Paul II in 1998, a thinker who has been able to cross all fields of the knowledge, authentically transdisciplinary, defined by many as the Leonardo da Vinci of Russia. An inte¬gral vision of knowledge pushes him to try to penetrate the “living fibers of science”, and to glimpse the possibility of an interrelation of knowledge and their different languages through the key of the symbol.
Pavel A. Florenskij è stato un autentico gigante della cultura sia scientifica, che teologica, esplicitamente riconosciuto come uno dei grandi maestri del pensiero credente nell’Enciclica Fides et ratio da papa Giovanni Paolo II nel 1998, pensatore che ha saputo attraversare tutti i campi del sapere, autenticamente transdisciplinare, da molti definito come il Leonardo da Vinci della Russia. Una visione integrale della conoscenza lo spinge a tentare di penetrare nelle “fibre vive della scienza”, e ad intravvedere la possibilità di un’interrelazione dei saperi e dei loro differenti linguaggi attraverso la chiave del simbolo.

Opis:: The article presents a statistical study of a questionnaire collected among students of various disciplines and universities. The aim of the survey was to investigate the grades obtained in mathematics in the last year of secondary school and during the matriculation exam. Then, the respondents were asked a sequence of 10 questions about their level of self-discipline. The answer sheets were processed and analyzed using own software. A statistical analysis was conducted to find a relationship between the field of study, mathematical abilities and the level of self-discipline. All respondents were statistically divided into two separate clusters. One group included individuals with good self-discipline who also obtained good results in mathematics in the last year of secondary school.

Opis:: Sustainable development in education is the basis of sustainable development of society. To ensure sustainable development in education, its principles need to be implemented in all training courses. Higher pedagogical education should provide training in designing and teaching such courses. At our universities, future primary school teachers are trained to keep their maths lessons in line with the principles of sustainable development in three key areas. The first area relates to the development of pupils’ social involvement through their acquisition of intellectual and practical skills of using maths. The second area concerns pupils’ relationship with their natural and cultural environment. Future teachers are trained to design tasks that stimulate pupils’ emotional engagement and caring attitude. The third area that future teachers are trained to target is pupils’ economic and financial competence. Teaching skills in all these areas can be developed effectively through the case method.

Opis:: Poszukiwanie matematycznych zależności w dziełach muzycznych to bardzo częste zjawisko badawcze. Można napotkać wiele utworów, w których artysta świadomie wykorzystywał wiedzę matematyczną podczas ich komponowania. Poszukiwanie matematycznych zależności w muzyce można by nazwać „matematyzowaniem muzyki”. Ale czy można „umuzycznić matematykę”, a dokładniej – obiekty matematyczne? W artykule analizie poddany jest problem „umuzyczniania matematyki”, zaś celem artykułu jest przedstawienie wybranych struktur matematycznych świadomie użytych przez Iannisa Xenakisa w kompozycjach. Jego twórczość jest doskonałym przykładem połączenia matematyki z muzyką. Mowa tu o procesach stochastycznych i rachunku prawdopodobieństwa, o teorii grup, o ruchach Browna i łańcuchach Markowa oraz o teorii gier. Muzyka Xenakisa przeciwstawiała się jakiejkolwiek tradycji w muzyce dzięki zastosowaniu w niej modelowania matematycznego. Była nieprzewidywalna, ale nie przypadkowa. W artykule mowa również o procesie twórczym przy komponowaniu muzyki oraz o matematycznym porządku w utworach muzycznych i walorach estetycznych i artystycznych. Artykuł ten dodatkowo ułatwi odbiór muzyki Xenakisa i pozwala lepiej zrozumieć jego twórczość.
The search for mathematical relationships in musical compositions are often studied. There are many musical compositions, in which the composer consciously used mathematical knowledge during their composing. The search for mathematical dependence in music could be called “mathematization of music”. Can we use math to music illustration of mathematical objects? The problem of using music to math illustration is analyzed in this article and the aim of the article is to present some mathematical structures consciously used in the compositions by Iannis Xenakis. His work is an excellent example of the connection of mathematics with music. There are described stochastic processes and probability theory, group theory, game theory, and Brownian motion and Markov chains. Music of Xenakis opposed any tradition in music by using mathematical modeling in it. It was unpredictable, but not accidental. There is also about the creative process when composing music and about mathematical order in musical works, as well as aesthetic and artistic values. This article facilitates the perception of Xenakis music and enables to understand his work better.
