Several optimization studies were made to increase metal recovery and reduce operational costs of the concentrator in Siirt Madenköy copper mine. In consequence of these studies, effects of the changes in operating parameters, cost and plant recovery will be examined at this article. In this article, we will discuss two important revision studies, which are (i) replacement of 500 mm hydrocyclone set used in ball mills with 350 mm of hydrocyclone set, (ii) replacing the present Ball Mill with a SAG mill. Correspondingly elimination of the crushing and screening plant, (iii) increasing the scavenger cells from 4 to 6 by the addition of 2 more cells. In consequence with this feeding the middling tail to the increased scavenger cells which was treated as a part of final tail before this change. We will examine the effect of all these changes to the final recovery, concentrate grade and final cost.

Opis:
The main goal of the research was to determine the impact of construction, functioning and liquidation of water mills on the hydrographic network of Wadowice and its surroundings. Another indirect purpose was to reconstruct the medieval river network from the period prior to the heyday of milling and indicate the remaining traces of the milling infrastructure. The research was conducted on the basis of analysis of historical sources and archival topographic maps. The origins of development of milling in Wadowice were dependent on the royal privileges. The first of them was issued in the 15th century. The mills in Wadowice were located on rivers Choczenka, Kleczanka and Dąbrówka, as well as on three artificial mill races, but never on river Skawa. The longest mill race began in Świnna Poręba, where it was supplied with water from Skawa. At the foot of Iłowiec, the mill race was supplied from Nawieśnica and Potok Zbywaczowski, whose course was modified. After merging with Dąbrówka, the mill race ran further parallel to Skawa and ultimately flowed to Choczenka. There were between 3 and 5 mills throughout the entire course of the artificial crosscut. Between 1 and 3 mills were situated at the watercourse which supplies the ponds in Wadowice and Tomice. The third mill race, which began in Kleczanka, powered 1 mill and flowed into Skawa after merging with Rokowski Potok. Due to the environmental conditions, the mills in Wadowice did not require construction of ponds. The mills in Wadowice were located on the basis of economic conditions. The natural conditions were not favourable for the functioning of hydraulic machines, which forced the construction and maintenance of artificial riverbeds. Water milling was subsequently liquidated due to the development of steam mills, and ultimately electric mills. In consequence of the decline of water mills, the maintenance works on mill races were abandoned. Some of the watercourses were backfilled, others were transformed into drainage ditches, whereas the mills in the town were included in the sewerage system. The shape of the former river network of Wadowice is now only reflected by few fragments of certain creeks.

Andrzej Będziński’s “Słownik pracowników służby zdrowia papierni w Jeziornej oraz zmarłych w tamtejszym szpitalu” [A dictionary of the health care employees of the Jeziorna paper mill and those who passed away in the paper mill hospital] includes new information on the subject. So far, all relevant publications have been primarily based on the 1863 Orgelbrand encyclopaedia, according to which a factory hospital operated in the town, managed by a local surgeon with the support of a Warsaw doctor. The present paper is based on the birth certificate registries from Słomczyn’s St. Sigismund Parish, Powsin’s St. Elizabeth Parish, Daleszyce’s St. Michael the Archangel Parish and Warsaw’s St. Alexander Parish. According to these sources, between 1832 and 1914, the Jeziorna paper mill hospital employed at least 7 doctors, 3 feldshers, 18 midwives and 3 maintenance employees. In addition, 5 patient death certificates were found. Furthermore, the latest research has uncovered new, previously unknown names of workers, boiler fitters, blacksmiths, locksmiths, farm hands, apprentices and master papermakers, as well as the Bank of Poland officials employed by the paper mill.

Napisana przeze mnie praca pt. „Wolność jednostki w myśli politycznej Johna Stuarta Milla” jak sam tytuł wskazuje dotyczy teorii wolności odnoszącej się do każdego pojedynczego człowieka, której autorem jest wybitny XIX-wieczny angielski myśliciel i filozof – John Stuart Mill. Wolność jednostki ukazana jest w niej nie tylko jako fundament jakże bogatej i wszechstronnej doktryny Milla, ale także jako jedna z podstawowych cech liberalizmu. Aby ukazać w pełni problematykę będącą tematem owej pracy, zawarte są w niej dzieje myśli oraz doktryny liberalnej, dla których wolność stanowi nieodzowny element oraz biografia Johna Stuarta Milla dla czytelniejszej prezentacji jego poglądów i filozofii, jak również ich ocena przez innych myślicieli lub komentatorów. Na gruncie tej pracy widoczne jest, że wolność, pomimo iż stanowi tak podstawowe zagadnienie w rzeczywistości kwestie z nią związane okazują się niezwykle złożone, wieloaspektowe i budzące liczne kontrowersje. Przyglądając się problematyce zawartej we wskazanej pracy bez trudu można dostrzec, że John Stuart Mill stworzył nie tylko niepowtarzalną teorie wolności, która znana jest niemal na całym świecie, ale przede wszystkim swoja filozofią i doktryną wywarł niezwykły wpływ, nie tylko na filozofię brytyjską, ale także europejską, a być może i światową.
The thesis "Freedom of the Individual in the Political Thought of John Stuart Mill," as the title implies - concerns the theory of freedom relating to each individual man whose author is an eminent nineteenth-century English thinker and philosopher - John Stuart Mill. Individual freedom is shown in it not only as the foundation of a very rich and comprehensive doctrine of Mill, but also as one of the basic features of liberalism. To show fully the issues which are the subject of this thesis, I have included the history of liberal thought and doctrine, for which, freedom is an indispensable element, as well as a biography of John Stuart Mill. They constitute a clearer presentation of his views and philosophy, as well as their assessment by other thinkers or commentators. On the basis of this thesis it becomes apparent that freedom – being such a fundamental issue - in fact, proves to be extremely complex, multifaceted and giving rise to much controversy. Looking at the issues contained in the thesis, you can easily see that John Stuart Mill, not only created a unique theories of freedom, which is known almost all over the world, but above all, his philosophy and the doctrine has had a remarkable impact, not only in British philosophy, but also European, and perhaps global.

The recovery of spent carbon anode (SCA) materials plays important roles in environment protection and resources recycling, while this cannot be efficiently achieved without liberation. In this study, grinding characteristics of spent carbon anode from aluminum electrolysis in both ball mill and rod mill were analyzed, and compared based on the utilization of the selective Fuerstenau upgrading curves. In addition, the different grinding mechanisms of ball and rod milling were evaluated by analyzing the shape factor and surface roughness of the ground samples. Results of mineralogical characterizations indicated that carbon particles (d50 = 46.86 μm) presented in the SCA were closely associated with cryolite particles. At 5 min grinding time, the maximum selective comminution factor (β) values of ball milling and rod milling were 2.00 and 1.63, respectively, indicating a higher degree of selective comminution of SCA was achieved from ball milling. Comparisons of the valuable component content (cv, cum) of -125 μm ground particles and the shape characterizations of 74–125 μm ground particles generated from ball and rod milling manifest that a direct relationship exists between the degree of selective comminution and the grinding mechanism.

Vibratory mills are applied in processes of mechanical production of powders, micropowders, nanopowders and nanostructures. The paper comprises a description of tube mills operation: vibratory and rotary-vibration ones. It also presents their application and construction description including two industrial mills elaborated at the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow. There is also a brief analysis of existing models of mechanical vibratory mills. The main part of the paper deals with a model of mechanical vibratory mill known as a layered model. The most important element is a quantitative view of the load movement (grinding media with material) in the chamber. The model also takes into account the whole mechanical system of the mill i.e. inertial vibrator, vibro-isolation system and drive. The model was elaborated for the purposes of the mill computer simulation. During the simulation there were accepted the same technological (grinding media, ground material, grinding process) and kinematic parameters of the mill as the ones that occur in a real object i.e. the laboratory rotary-vibration LAMOW-B-5/2 mill. The paper includes results of a computer simulation of the model. The final part of the work verifies the computer simulation on the same mill and at the same kinematic and technological parameters of the mill and grinding process. Positive results of the verification indicate some possibilities of its application in designing of industrial and laboratory vibratory and rotary-vibration mills.
Młyny wibracyjne stosuje się w procesach mechanicznego wytwarzania proszków, mikroproszków oraz nanoproszków i nanostruktur. W pracy zamieszczono opis działania rurowych młynów: wibracyjnych oraz obrotowo-wibracyjnych. Podano także ich zastosowanie oraz opis budowy, w tym dwóch młynów przemysłowych opracowanych w Akademii Górniczo-Hutniczej. Podano krótką analizę znanych modeli mechanicznych młynów wibracyjnych. Zasadniczą część pracy stanowi model mechaniczny młyna wibracyjnego, zwany modelem warstwowym, którego najważniejszą częścią jest ilościowe ujęcie ruchu ładunku (mielników z materiałem) w komorze. Model ten uwzględnia także cały ustrój mechaniczny młyna, to jest wibrator bezwładnościowy, układ wibroizolacji oraz napęd. Model opracowano dla potrzeb symulacji komputerowej młyna. W symulacji przyjęto identyczne parametry technologiczne (mielników, mielonego materiału, procesu mielenia) i kinematyczne młyna które występują w rzeczywistym obiekcie, czyli laboratoryjnym młynie obrotowo-wibracyjnym LAMOW-B-5/2. Praca zawiera wyniki symulacji komputerowej tego modelu. Finalną część pracy jest weryfikacja symulacji komputerowej na tym samym młynie i przy tych samych parametrach kinematycznych i technologicznych młyna oraz procesu mielenia. Pozytywne wyniki weryfikacji modelu warstwowego wskazują na możliwość jego zastosowania w projektowaniu przemysłowych i laboratoryjnych młynów wibracyjnych i obrotowo-wibracyjnych.

The efficiency of talc mechanical activation by means of two different mechano-activators - centrifugal and attrition mill is investigated in this study and the comparative analysis of the characteristics of obtained talc powders is presented. A new approach for obtaining high-grade talc concentrate with low Fe2O3 content is achieved through effect of mechanical activation of talc accompanied by hydrometallurgical process. The applied mechanical activation process conditions of ultra-centrifugal mill were defined by number of rotor revolutions, sieve mesh size, and current intensity. These operating parameters of the ultra-centrifugal mill were variable. Ultra fine grinding of talc in attrition mill (attritor) was carried out in various time intervals - from 5 to 15 min. The following technological parameters of the mechanical activation were monitored: time of mechanical activation, circumferential rotor speed, capacity of ultra-centrifugal mill, and specific energy consumption. The investigation was based on a kinetic model. The structure and behavior of activated samples were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis, and differential thermal analysis (DTA).

In this research, the effect of ball size distribution on the mill power draw, charge motion regime and breakage mechanism in a laboratory ball mill was studied using the discrete element method (DEM) simulation. The mill shell and crushing balls were made of Plexiglas® and compressed glass, respectively. Modeling was performed using Particle Flow Code 3D (PFC3D). Model parameters were back-calculated by comparing the power draws and images obtained from simulation and laboratory test works. After determining the model parameters, the mill was simulated in mill fillings of 15, 20, 25, 30, 35 and 40% with ball media of 2 and 2.5 cm in diameter. For every mill filling, the numbers of big and small balls were changed and 11 scenarios were chosen. The results showed that at a constant mill filling, the power draw was changed with changing the ball size distribution and for all mill fillings the maximum power draw occurred when the fraction of small balls was between 30-40%. The effect of ball size distribution increased with increasing mill filling and for the mill filling of 35%, the ball size distribution had the maximum effect on the power draw. When the mill charge contained mono-sized balls, the ball flow regime inside the mill transited to the cataracting and impact breakage was the main breakage mechanism. Increasing the fraction of big balls from 0 to 70% led the flow of balls into the cascading regime and breakage mechanism to attrition.

Computerized milling process is widely used in product manufacturing. Although manufacturing has gradually become highly-automated, the selection of machining conditions still remains an ever-present challenge in the process. To provide some findings contributable for the process planning, this study focuses on ball and filleted end milling. After brief explanations were given to the path interval determinations in both milling processes, the experiments were conducted to verify and characterize each procedure. The results of computational procedures showed good agreement with the experimental ones. Then, material removal rate and cutting force were analytically proposed for effective selection of machining conditions. The following findings were obtained from the demonstrations with discussion. Ball end milling required relatively large cutting force in the first tool path even though the material removal rate was comparatively small. On the contrary, filleted end mill enabled us to maintain a moderate cutting force in the first tool path even if the material removal rate expanded with increasing tool radius.
