Opis:: Cultural heritage institutions (e.g. museums) expand the scope of information technology adaptation and make mobile applications available to the users. Up to date mobile devices (like smartphones or tablets) become fully functional devices for display and interaction with online museum information resources. This type of information dissemination can be exploited efficiently in shaping information literacies for young users for whom mobile device has become a major tool for communication, entertainment and knowledge acquisition. The paper presents the results of comparative analysis of mobile applications for museum information services in Poland. The study covered recent and most popular mobile application for online exhibitions and for accessing museum collections and it has been limited to mobile applications for Android operation system. The analysis was based on selected applications highly rated on Google Play Store and AppBrain.com. The popularity of mobile applications was established based on statistical data- rating score, user comments and the total number of downloads. The study indicates selected features such as mobile devices capacities, built-in mechanisms (gyroscope, GPS, camera), interactivity and multimedia features.

Opis:: In this article I present some of the most popular mobile museum applications – their content, accessibility, and finally the possibility to use them in the educational process. In the public opinion these applications are not yet seen as a form of education or useful fun, but rather as a feature of mobile devices. Therefore, in their analysis, I focused on their potential for cultural education. Many museum and educational applications can be attributed to fulfill several important functions of education – developmental, educational, cognitive, expressive, culture-creating and finally recreational and ludic. Mobility is therefore an important goal of education nowadays, and the modern facilities can help to develop competencies that are important from the perspective of cultural education, such as understanding the needs of training and cultural development in the process of lifelong learning, valuing traditions and cultural heritage.

Opis:: Studies show that mobile phones are an important part of youth lifestyle and culture. In establishing this, it is important to know how youth themselves perceive the importance of mobile phones in their life. Our research was based on a sample of 6th and 9th graders from Slovenia (n = 820). The data was collected using a questionnaire. The study showed that the most common reason for using mobile phones is to communicate with other pupils and the reason for having a mobile phone is to be connected with others. Moreover, various feelings and fears connected to mobile phone use are experienced by pupils. The study also revealed some possible dangers of MPs use by pupils. Based on the results, it is necessary to raise pupils’ awareness of the safe, moderate and critical use of mobile phones in their everyday life.

Opis:: W pracy przedstawiono zagadnienia związane z projektem automatycznego mobilnego systemu wykrywania i niszczenia min niemetalowych. System ten zamocowany jest na platformie mobilnej na bazie robota pirotechnicznego IBIS. Posiada on zdolność autonomicznej pracy oraz posiada systemy wykrywania min niemetalowych. W referacie przedstawiono metodykę pracy pojazdu naziemnego oraz całego systemu i ich wpływ na wymagania stawiane przez to układowi nawigacji. Przedstawiono też zasady pracy urządzeń wykrywających i neutralizujących miny.
The paper presents issues related to the project automated mobile system for detection and neutralization of non-metal mines. This system is mounted on a mobile platform based on a pyrotechnic robot IBIS. Platform is prepared for autonomous operation and has a non-metallic mines detection systems. The paper presents a methodology of work of a ground vehicle and the whole system and their impact on the demands of a navigation system. Paper presents also the principle of the work of the detecting and neutralizing mines systems.

Opis:: Mobile commerce (m-commerce) is a fact. Nowadays, numerous transactions take place via mobile devices. At the same time, m-commerce is considered as one of the fastest growing subgroups of e-commerce. Characteristically, it is estimated that about 45% of mobile users have made at least one purchase via a wireless hand-held device. Therefore, it plays and will continue to play a vital role in the global economy. The aim of this research paper is to investigate the perceptions of mobile commerce users focusing on Bulgarian University students. Specifically, it intends to reveal the perceived advantages and disadvantages of m-commerce, the factors that motivate students to make online transactions via a hand-held device, as well as the issues that hinder them from doing so more often. The paper is expected to provide tangible results to both academia and the industry about a developing economy.

Opis:: The purpose of this study was to explore whether students’ vocabulary learning can be improved via mobile apps and to further enhance their TOEIC scores. Seventy English as a Foreign Language (EFL) senior high school students in Taiwan were recruited. TOEIC tests were used for pre-and post-testing to gather quantitative data. Qualitative data were collected from classroom observations and interviews. The results indicated that there was no significant difference in TOEIC scores between the experimental and the control group. However, students’ attitudes towards the app were positive and believed that it helped improve their vocabulary learning for the TOEIC exam.

Opis:: The map is the key element in any navigation system. The dynamic growth of indoor navigation systems requires improvements in quality not only of positioning systems but also of maps of building interiors. Most emergent solutions in this field do not use cartographic knowledge. Cartographic methodology for representing building interiors is still in its initial stages of development. Its proper use may, however, be of great importance to the effectiveness of indoor navigation. The author presents important features that indoor mobile maps should possess, for both the data model and the presentation method to be used. In this context, the question of the contemporary definition of a map is also discussed.
