Opis:
This article will attempt to present the assumptions, the scale and the potential effectiveness of chosen religious mobilizations, that is initiatives with a significant, since supralocal, scope, which are undertaken in order to revive the religious involvement in Poland. Polish religiousness seems to be vital, especially in comparison with the countries of Western Europe, but there are signs of its gradual weakening. This induces religious institutions and religiously committed environments to undertake and implement initiatives, which are to vitalize and mobilize the religious activity of Polish society. Among such initiatives in Poland there are the meetings in Lednica, World Youth Days organized in dioceses and at international level, which took place in Krakow in 2016, as well as prayer initiatives, for example: Great Penance (“Wielka Pokuta”), The Rosary to the Borders (“Różaniec do Granic”), Poland Under the Cross (“Polska pod Krzyżem”), organized by nonconfessional circles, namely by the association Solo Dios Basta. These three initiatives will be analysed on the basis of official announcements issued by the association, as well as press materials published in Polish national dailies and weekly opinion magazines. It will make it possible both to present the image of those undertakings created by the media, as well as determine its scale and scope. Moreover, the analysis will include the contexts in which religious mobilizations are presented.

Opis:
This article is a case study of the process of mobilization to violence on the internet. The goal of this paper was to identify a select number of factors within the narrative on the topic of modern immigration that can be found on the internet and analyze them using the theoretical constructs that can be found in the literature on this subject. The scientists that study genocide have identified several factors commonly found in historically documented events that must be present in order for genocide to occur. In this paper the author will refer to works of scientists such as Helen Fein, Manus I. Midlarsky, Lech M. Nijakowski. The author of the paper analyzed the content published on the internet that deals with the topic of immigration. The materials selected for research contained topics that treat the subject of accepting refugees from outside of Europe, their process of assimilation and the way they coexist with the local population. The analysis was based on content in the Polish language which includes both materials that were created in Polish and those that were originally in a different language and then were remade with Polish footnotes. The content for the study was selected from among the following sources: propaganda movies which spread on the internet through social media, short unscientific propaganda and informational articles and finally memes (pictures with short footnotes). Factors that were analyzed in the following article: 1) Universe of obligation, construct created by Helen Fein. 2) Conspiratory discourse, described by Lech Nijakowski. 3) Utility and parasitism; discourse referring to them. 4) Two conditions necessary to instigate genocide, described by Manus I. Midlarsky. 5) Discourse on the topic of immoral sexual actions described by the author based on the theory of discourses created by Lech Nijakowski. During the study all the aforementioned factors have been identified. The author described the examples analyzed, interpreted them and subsequently matched them to the categories described above. It was determined that within those examples we can distinguish a number of factors that match the elements of mobilizing the population to violence. The article closes with an analysis of potential consequences of the phenomena described.

Opis:
This study aims to review the effectiveness of social media as a platform for social mobilization and to show how social media influence social movements in the US. It seeks to offer a literature-based comparison between the traditional and the new ones, answering the question why social media is a matter in American politics. It offers practical data about the role of social media in raising awareness, creating movements, influencing policy decisions, and changing Americans’ minds. This paper builds on several meta-analysis studies. It reviews and discusses previous results found in literature. It also uses the Pew Research Center which offers critical data relating to the research topic. It finds that social media successfully encourage the Americans to engage in political discussions and increase their participation. Social media are an alternative space to social mobilization, which has positively influenced social movements.

Opis:
This paper discusses the #BlackProtest mobilization among Polish migrant women living in four European cities. The #BlackProtest is the name of the most impressive women’s rights protest in Poland’s recent history. The main research question explored in this small study was what the act of solidarity, demonstrated in organizing the #BlackProtest internationally, meant for its organizers. The analysis of the reasons behind the transnational #BlackProtest organizing revealed that it is insufficient to talk about #BlackProtest mobilization only in terms of transnational activism. The theoretical framework of the study needed to be expanded from social movements to contemporary diasporas and the discussion demonstrated how through a process of identities, heterogeneity and boundaries’ negotiations a feminist diaspora was formed. Social movements’ theories, explaining the role of connective leadership, discursive opportunity structures and emotions in social mobilization helped to demonstrate how this media-driven mobilization initiated the emergence of a transnational, feminist diaspora.

Opis:
The article aims to analyse the role of social media in initiating and organising protest and revolutionary movements. Social media, particularly Facebook and Twitter, are widely believed to have been used by activists involved in the global wave of protests and revolutions after 2009. However, the assessment of their role wavers between technological determinism and minimising the impact of new technologies. Considering the current state of research, the author offers his answers to a number of questions: (1) To what extent and how are social media used in the processes of political communication, mobilisation and organisation of protest and revolutionary movements? (2) What is the relation between the old and the new media? (3) What is the relation between the online and offline dimension of collective action? (4) Why has the occupation of public space become the dominant tactic of protest and revolutionary movements in the age of social media?
