Opis:: Human Performance Modeling (HPM) is a computer-aided job analysis software methodology used to generate predictions of complex human automation integration and system flow patterns with the goal of improving operator and system safety. The use of HPM tools has recently been increasing due to reductions in computational cost, augmentations in the tools’ fidelity, and usefulness in the generated output. An examination of an Air Man-machine Integration Design and Analysis System (Air MIDAS) model evaluating complex human-automation integration currently underway at NASA Ames Research Center will highlight the importance to occupational safety of considering both cognitive and physical aspects of performance when researching human error.

Opis:: Awarie i nieszczelności przewodów wodociągowych powodują nie tylko straty wody i związane nimi straty ekonomiczne, ale również stwarzają zagrożenie bezpieczeństwa ludzi i mienia ze względu na możliwość spowodowania zjawisk sufozyjnych w gruncie. W związku z tym przedsiębiorstwa wodociągowe są zainteresowane wyznaczaniem stref ochronnych wokół przewodów. Obecnie nie ma żadnych wytycznych określających zasięg tych stref. W pracy przedstawiono wyniki analizy wpływu wybranych parametrów (ciśnienie hydrauliczne w wodociągu, położenie zwierciadła wody gruntowej, przepuszczalność gruntu) na czas i miejsce wypływu wody na powierzchnię terenu podczas awarii podziemnego rurociągu. Badania symulacji numerycznej czternastu wariantów awarii wodociągu przeprowadzone w programie FEFLOW v. 5.3 wykazały wpływ wszystkich rozpatrywanych parametrów, przy czym wpływ ten był bardziej wyraźny w odniesieniu do czasu wypływu wody na powierzchnię niż do jego miejsca, które we wszystkich rozpatrywanych wariantach znajdowało się w obrębie wykopu. Wyniki symulacji zostały zweryfikowane doświadczalnie na podstawie pomiaru czasu wypływu wody na powierzchnię terenu po przeprowadzeniu kontrolowanej awarii wodociągu w warunkach rzeczywistych. Należy podkreślić, że uzyskane wyniki symulacji numerycznej stanowią pewne przybliżenie i nie odzwierciedlają dokładnie warunków rzeczywistych ze względu na konieczność wprowadzenia założeń upraszczających.
Water pipe failures and leakages result not only in water and financial losses but also cause danger to personal and property safety due to possible soil suffusion. Thus, water corporations attempt to establish protection zones in vicinity of the pipes. At present, there are no standards that would determine the size of such zones. An analysis of the influence of selected parameters (hydraulic pressure in a water pipe, water table and soil hydraulic conductivity) on water outflow time and location during an underground water pipe failure was presented. Numerical simulation analysis of the 14 variants of a pipe failure, conducted using the FEFLOW v. 5.3 software, indicated influence of all the considered parameters. That influence was more pronounced with reference to the time of water outflow than to its place (within the trench in all the variants considered). The simulation results were empirically verified on the basis of the water outflow time in the controlled water pipe failure scenario under the actual conditions. It should be emphasized that obtained numerical simulation results are an approximation only and do not reflect the actual conditions due to some simplifying assumptions.

Opis:: The aim of the considerations presented in the article was a stand-alone groundbased photovoltaic power plant. The article is devoted to the qualitative analysis of some lightning protection configurations. These types of constructions often require an individual look at the design and execution of lightning protection installations, which causes problems with the selection of optimal solutions. These problems relate primarily to the way the lightning rods are arranged to create protection zones, but also to the way they are attached: to the supporting structure for PV modules or as free-standing. Another problem raised in the article is the way how lightning current is discharged from rods to the ground and how it is dispersed there. Due to the vast area of such facilities and the requirements for electrical safety, it is necessary to consider and design a ground system with optimal electrical parameters, but also technical and economic ones. All these elements have their impact on the value of voltages induced in the electrical installation, which is also presented in the content of the article as the magnetic field distribution and calculation of induced voltages in an exemplary configuration. Finally, this article will compare described technical solutions encountered in selecting the best protection method for this type of photovoltaic installation.

The construction of modern land-based platforms is one of the main priorities of the Armed Forces. The article concerns the implementation of the modeling and simulation of the behavior of an armored personnel carrier during braking. With the help of the constructed model of the braking system, which incorporates the ABS and EBS systems, simulation tests were performed. The study related to the effect of the brake system failure on the behaviour of the armoured personnel carrier.

Opis:: BPMN has recently become a de facto standard for modeling and design of complex software intensive processes. It is widely used not only in the Business Process domain. Numerous tools supporting visual edition have been developed. Despite its unquestionable advantages the semantic analysis of logical properties seems to be one of the weaknesses of this formalism. In order to assure reliable process execution the overall structure of the graph and its logical operation should be verified.
BPMN staje się powoli standardem de facto w modelowaniu i projektowaniu procesów zawierających istotne komponenty programowe. Jest powszechnie stosowany nie tylko dla modelowania procesów biznesowych. Zaimplementowano wiele narzędzi wspomagających wizualne projektowanie diagramów BPMN. Niestety, pomimo niezaprzeczalnych sukcesów semantyka BPMN i analiza własności logicznych stanowią ciągle słabe strony. Aby zapewnić niezawodną pracę systemów, należy przeprowadzić formalną analizę systemu.
