St. Anselm’s moral thought is based on such concepts as reason, rectitude (uprightness), justice, truth, should/ought to, freedom of the will and love. Human being was endowed with right reason able to find the truth. The latin term ‘rectitudo’, which is exactly connected with the reason, means ‘rightness’ or ‘rectitude’ as well. This term emphesizes not only the dependence on the right reason, but fi rst of all the concordance with God’s order. ‘Rectitudo’, ‘truth’ and ‘justice’ define themselves through each other, and rectitudo defines should (ought to, debere). Another important concept in Anselm’s system of morality is ‘freedom’. He views freedom as freedom of choises (libertas arbitrii) and defi nes it as the ability to keep rectitude of the will for the sake of that very rectitude (potestas servandi rectitudinem voluntatis propter ipsam rectitudinem). This is the ability that a willing and rational subject has for keeping or preserving rectitude (or uprightness) of the will by using their will to will rightly, to will the right things and in the right way. The central component of the freedom is precisely willing that one will rightly, for the sake of preserving this very rectitude of will. Anselm speaks of ‘keepeing’ rectitude of will because in his view being able to will rightly and being able to will rectitude of will means that one already possesses rectitude of will. The rectitude of the will is also called justice. God bestowed rational being with the will for hapieness (voluntas beatitudinis) and will for justice (voluntas justitiae). This twofold charakter of the will, which depends on rectitude, does not mean that there are two kinds of will in human being. There is the only one will, which causes that rational being desires both: hapieness and justice (rectitude) for its own sake. The will becomes unjust when it desires good without rectitude. Keeping the rectitude of the will for its own sake is nesessary to be just.

David J. Gunkel in his latest book Robot Rights presents the opportunities and challenges of integrating robots into moral and legal systems. The research question asked by the author is “Can and should robots have rights”? Following the Humean distinction between “is” and “ought”, Gunkel creates four statements that either opt for or against incorporating robots into legal discourse. The four modalities group contrasting opinions developed by different scholars on the subject of the eponymous robot rights. The author provides readers with yet another alternative approach to the question of legal recognition of robots which is based on Levinasian philosophy.

W niniejszym artykule przeprowadzono analizę porównawczą koncepcji teoretycznych oraz praktycznych technik i metod oddziaływania w zakresie wychowania moralnego, które proponuje się współcześnie w pedagogice polskiej i ukraińskiej. Zaprezentowano zróżnicowane punkty widzenia teoretyków obu narodowości zajmujących się podstawami wychowania moralnego. W ukraińskiej myśli pedagogicznej technologie wychowania moralnego stanowią spójny system edukacji moralnej. W przeciwieństwie do tego technologie te są rozpatrywane w Polsce jako strategie. Wskutek tej różnicy w polskich i ukraińskich naukach o wychowaniu uważa się, że pojęcie „technika edukacji moralnej” jest szersze niż terminy „metoda” i “metodologia”. Poza tym autorka artykułu określiła kryteria właściwe dla technik edukacji moralnej, wskazując przy tym na znaczenie diagnostyki oświatowej dla rozwoju tychże technik. Zwróciła przy tym uwagę na przyczyny niedostatecznego wykształcenia się technik edukacji moralnej i wskazała na wyzwania stanowiące perspektywy ich przyszłego rozwoju.
A comparative analysis of the implementation of the theoretical bases and the practice of moral education technologies and methods in Polish and Ukrainian pedagogy has been conducted in the article. Points of view of Polish and Ukrainian scientists concerning the interpretation of basic terms have been produced. Moral education technology in Ukrainian pedagogical science is a moral education system. In Polish educational science, this technology is the strategy of moral education. It have been determined that in the Polish and Ukrainian pedagogical sciences the technology of moral education is considered to be a wider concept than the method and the methodology. Criteria for moral education technologies have been determined. The importance of educational diagnostics to the development of moral education technologies has been shown. The causes of the weak development of moral education technologies have been cleared up. Prospects for the use of positive ideas in modern educational and moral space have been revealed.

Opis:
Programmes of formal education establish a systematic transfer of knowledge as well as universal values from one generation to another. By that, they ensure the survival of social structures, prevent radical disruptions in their continuity, and serve as basis for general development of a society. Their content and didactic arrangements include interweaving of two basic aspects: the cognitive one and the one related to vzgoja (i.e. upbringing, moral/value education etc.). The latter aims to achieve the ideals of a tolerant, just and lifelong learning society, but seems to be facing increasing challenges, mainly emerging from neoliberal capitalist mentality. Art history as a school subject area in elementary and secondary education may provide an insight beneath the surface of historical events. Thus, it helps develop a critical view towards them and consequently towards the present real-life situations, which contributes to ascending the taxonomic scale of conative educational goals.

Myśl pedagogiczna św. Jana Bosko została przedstawiona w teorii i praktyce wychowawczej przeszło dwa wieku temu. Opiera się nie tylko na wierze w Boga, ale obejmuje wiele obszarów społecznych i kulturowych. W mojej pracy chciałbym przedstawić dorobek pedagogiczny Jana Bosko, począwszy od przedstawienia jego biografii. Skoncentruję się na najważniejszych obszarach edukacji salezjańskiej, a zwłaszcza na systemie prewencyjnym, który jest centrum edukacji i rozwoju młodego człowieka. W mojej pracy, oprócz części teoretycznej, znajduje się również empiryczna analiza poświęcona percepcji wartości moralnych zawartych w Dekalogu przez młodych ludzi.
The pedagogical thought of Saint John Bosko has been presented in educational theory and practice for over two centuries. It is based not only on faith in God, but covers many social and cultural areas. In my work, I would like to present the pedagogical output of Jan Bosko, starting from showing his biography. I will focus on the most important areas of Salesian education and in particular on the preventive system, which is the center of education and development of a young man. In my work, apart from the theoretical part, there is also an empirical analysis that was devoted to the perception of moral values contained in the Decalogue by young people.

The results of the 2016 United States Presidential Election were, to most, unforeseen. Hindsight being 20/20, they should not have been. This thesis will analyze social, cultural, and political changes that occurred in the decade leading up to the election and how this empowered an outsider candidate like Donald Trump to gain prominence and popularity and, ultimately, the presidency. This thesis will also look at the specific election format used by the United States and how this format played a critical role in producing the overall unexpected 2016 results. Finally, the effects of Donald Trump’s presidency will be examined, and this thesis will explore the burning question: should we expect another Trump term in 2024.

This article is an attempt to show that the KMDD® method is the best for both our brain and our moral functioning, which undoubtedly has its basis in the brain. At the same time, it is an attempt to draw attention to the importance of planning interventions (e.g. at the educational level) which stimulate moral development in accordance with the psychological and neurobiological functioning of an individual. The paper briefly presents the neuropsychological context of moral functioning, and then a series of arguments in support of the thesis that the scientifically proven effectiveness of using the KMDD® method has its support in adapting the method not only to one's pattern of individual behavior, but also to the proper functioning of one's brain.

Medicine is the field of knowledge and set of clinical practices, characterized by the presence of politics and ethics on all the levels. Politics should be treated as a domain of power, which aims to make strategic decisions concerning health of the citizens leading to form socially accepted objectives of health care policy. Ethics sets axiological frames for morally just decisions both political and medical in the field of health care. The article analyzes the reasons of conflicts and moral dilemmas in the health care system. Decisions which are made within health care system should accomplish five criteria: medical, economical, social, legal and axiological. The term “moral panic” is used to illustrate situations concerning corruption and moral atrophy of doctors.

Opis:
The aim of this paper is to analyse the meaning, role and place of values in the life of a soldier. Furthermore, the article explores the issues of soldiers’ ethical standards and types of behaviour which can be found in the modern army. It outlines that they are strongly influenced by the local culture. As a result of everyday performance, every individual makes assessments, i.e. formulates different opinions according to a specific criterion and assigns them a significant place in the hierarchy of values. In the light of this theory, the article examines the hierarchy of values and the norms of behaviour that occur in the lives of cadets. The paper uses The Rokeach Value Survey as well as The Kruskal–Wallis test by ranks. Using these two methods, the author analyses his own questionnaires to compare the value system of Polish Air Force University students. The main findings state that cadets have a permanent system of values. Moreover, they share similar judgments concerning different behaviour. Regardless of the course year, goals and values related to their homeland and family seem to be of the greatest importance. The overall findings of the paper show a great number of similarities in the cadets’ value system. It is recommended that the future research should focus on examining students of other Polish military universities in order to check if they respond differently. The results obtained may be helpful in the process of young soldiers’ upbringings taking into consideration the moral figure among military school graduates.
