Opis:
The paper presents the results of research on the influence of sintering temperature on microstructure, DC electrical conductivity, dielectric, ferroelectric and magnetic properties of PbFe1/2Nb1/2O3 ceramics doped by Li in the amount of 5.0% wt., in the abbreviation PLiFN. The ceramic samples of the PLiFN material were obtained by the two-stage synthesis – columbite method and sintered by free sintering methods. Introduction to the basic PbFe1/2Nb1/2O3 composition of the lithium admixture to decrease the electrical conductivity and reduction of dielectric loss. The tests have shown that the increase in sintering temperature orders the PLiFN ceramic microstructure, which has a positive effect on its electrophysical properties. At room temperature, the PLiFN ceramic samples show both ferroelectric and ferromagnetic properties. Considering the functional parameters of the obtained ceramic samples, the optimal technological conditions are 1100°C/2 h.

Opis:
We report the observation of cluster (local) superconductivity in the magnetoelectric $Pb(Fe_{1//2}Sb_{1//2})O_3$ ceramics prepared at a hydrostatic pressure of 6 GPa and temperatures 1200-1800 K to stabilize the perovskite phase. The superconductivity is manifested by an abrupt drop of the magnetic susceptibility at the critical temperature $T_{c}$ ≈7 K. Both the magnitude of this drop and $T_{c}$ decrease with magnetic field increase. Similarly, the low-field paramagnetic absorption measured by EPR spectrometer drops significantly below $T_{c}$ as well. The observed effects and their critical magnetic field dependence are interpreted as manifestation of the superconductivity and the Meissner effect in metallic Pb nanoclusters existing in the ceramics. Their volume fraction and average size were estimated as 0.1-0.2% and 140-150 nm, respectively. The superconductivity related effects disappear after oxidizing annealing of the ceramics.

Opis:
We present the results of investigations of Pb(Fe1/2Nb1/2)O3 (PFN) ceramic samples obtained using two-step synthesis (i.e. columbite method). For obtained samples complex investigations of microstructure, magnetic and electrophysical properties have been performed at low and at high temperatures. Microstructure is characterized by small grains with high homogeneity and high density (low porosity). Impedance of samples and the phase shift angle have been measured using LCR Meter. Next the AC electric conductivity, dielectric permittivity and loss tangent have been calculated. AC conductivity at frequency 3 Hz was measured in similar way using Quantum Design PPMS System in magnetic fields 1000 Oe and 10000 Oe. At temperature range 240 K - 260 K the anomalies of conductivity are observed. These anomalies depend on measuring cycle (heating, cooling) and magnetic field.

Opis:
The complex perovskite system xźBi0.95Dy0.05FeO3-(1 - x)źPb(Fe2/3W1/3)O3 was synthesized by the solid-state reaction method and was studied by means of Mössbauer spectroscopy. For different Dy-doped bismuth ferrite (BDF) contents (x = 0.1, 0.3, 0.5, 0.7) the formation of single-phase sinters was confirmed using an X-ray diffraction technique. The random distributions of Fe/W cations in crystallographic structures have been proved. A monotonically, saturation- like increase of Néel temperatures with growing BDF contribution was confirmed, and a straightforward dependence between TN temperatures and the mean hyperfine magnetic fields at Fe nuclei was shown.

Opis:
This paper presents the results of the study on structure and magnetic properties of the perovskite-type (BiFeO3)x-(BaTiO3)1-x solid solutions. The samples differing in the chemical composition (x = 0.9, 0.8, and 0.7) were produced according to the conventional solid-state sintering method from the mixture of powders. Moreover, three different variants of the fabrication process differing in the temperatures and soaking time were applied. The results of X-ray diffraction (XRD), Mössbauer spectroscopy (MS), and vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM) were collected and compared for the set of the investigated materials. The structural transformation from rhombohedral to cubic symmetry was observed for the samples with x = 0.7. With increasing of BaTiO3 concentration Mössbauer spectra become broadened refl ecting various confi gurations of atoms around 57Fe probes. Moreover, gradual decreasing of the average hyperfi ne magnetic fi eld and macroscopic magnetization were observed with x decreasing.

Opis:
In this work the hyperfine interactions in (BiFeO3)x-(BaTiO3)1-x solid solutions with relation to their structural properties have been investigated. X-ray diffraction, Mössbauer spectroscopy and magnetoelectric effect measurements have been used for studies of sintered (BiFeO3)x-(BaTiO3)1-x solid solutions with x = 0.9, 0.8 and 0.7. With increasing contents of BaTiO3, the structural transformation from rhombohedral to cubic was observed. The weakening of the hyperfine magnetic fields accompanied by this transformation. On the other hand, the increasing amount of BaTiO3 caused an increase of the magnetoelectric effect.

Opis:
Multiferroic composites are very promising materials because of their applicability because the magnetoelectric effect occurs in them. The subject of the study were two multiferroic ceramic composites: leaded obtained from powder of the composition PbFe0.5 Nb0.5 O3 and ferrite powder of the composition Ni0.64 Zn0.36 Fe2 O4 and unleaded which was obtained from the powder of the composition BaFe0.5 Nb0.52 O3 and the same ferrite powder Ni0.64 Zn0.36 Fe2 O4. For the both multiferroic materials the following studies were conducted: SEM, BSE, EDS, XRD and the temperature dependence of dielectric constant ε(T). Using the previously developed method of calculating the magnetoelectric coupling factor (g), based on dielectric measurements, the magnitude of the magnetoelectric effect in the multiferroic composites was determined.

Opis:
In this work investigations of structure and magnetic properties of conventionally sintered Bim+1Ti3Fem.3O3m+3 compounds with 4 less-than or equal to m less-than or equal to 8 were performed using X-ray diffraction, Mossbauer spectroscopy and vibrating sample magnetometry. Room-temperature Mossbauer spectra of the compounds correspond to a paramagnetic state, however, low temperature measurements (80 K) reveal the antiferromagnetic state with a residual paramagnetic phase. Temperature dependencies of magnetic susceptibility, chi sigma(T), provided magnetic ordering temperatures and revealed an irreversibility in Aurivillius compounds with m greater-than or equal to 5. In the case of Bi5Ti3FeO15 compound the chi sigma(T) dependence shows a paramagnetic behavior down to 2 K. The Bi6Ti3Fe2O18 compound reveals a magnetic ordering at 11 K. The compounds with m = 6-8 show a magnetic ordering at temperatures higher than 200 K. Highly irreversible character of their temperature dependencies of chi sigma indicates a spin-glass type disordered magnetism with frustration due to a random distribution of Fe on Ti at their sites.

Opis:
Multiferroic 0.5BiFeO3-0.5Pb(Fe0.5Ta0.5)O3 solid solution is a material that exhibits ferroelectric and antiferromagnetic orderings in ambient temperature. The solid solution was obtained as a result of a conventional reaction in a solid state. The obtained material is a dense, fine-grained sinter whose surface was observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and stoichiometry was confirmed by energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopic (EDS) analysis. According to the X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) measurements, the main phase is R3c space group with admixture of Pm-3m regular phase. Small contribution of pyrochlore-like phase was also observed. Mössbauer spectroscopy suggested random distribution of Fe3+/Ta5+ cations in the B sites of ABO3 compound. Reduction of the magnetic hyperfine field with an increase in the substitution of Ta5+ in Fe3+ neighbourhood was also observed.
