Opis:: The designing activity has to result in completely new autonomous units sections of complex manufacturing processes and their systems. The solutions must be related to a number of new issues, not only of a technical and technological nature. The solutions designed for new types of interactions between people and technology will be required, and so will be the necessary skills and knowledge. New legal, security, economic, political and ethical solutions to relevant issues will be needed.

Opis:: This paper examines a supply planning problem for multilevel serial production systems under lead time uncertainties. The techniques used in industry are often based on the assumption that the lead times are known. However, in a supply chain the lead times are often random variables. Therefore, it is necessary to evaluate the influence of the planned lead times on the total cost. An exact performance evaluation technique is developed to calculate the total cost as a function of the planned lead times when the actual lead times are random discrete variables. The sum of the average component holding and tardiness costs at each level, plus the average finished product backlogging cost is considered. Several properties of this function are proven. A numerical example is reported.

Opis:: Problems on inverter motor drives such as bearing currents are introduced due to common mode voltages. Different solutions are proposed on literature, for two-level or multilevel inverter. Instantaneous zero common mode voltage by using a three-level inverted could be achieved. This paper proposes a commutation strategy that allows zero common mode voltage by using medium vectors, and also a new representation as a plane on the commutation space is defined which is called zero common mode voltage plane. On this defined plane, every turning vector fulfil this property. Simulations and experimental results clearly show method's efficiency.

Opis:: Multilevel converters have been intensively investigated and developed since 1960s and have found successful industrial applications. The aim of this paper is to present state of the art as well as recent research and applications of cascaded multilevel converters, which are a very interesting solution for power distribution systems and renewable energy sources. Cascaded multilevel converters can easily operate at medium and high voltage based on the series connection of power modules (cells), which use standard low-voltage component configurations. Series connections of modules (cells) allow for high quality output voltages and input currents, reduction of passive components and availability of component redundancy. Due to these features the cascaded multilevel converters have been recognized as attractive solutions for high-voltage direct-current (HVDC) transmission, solid state transformers (SST) and photovoltaic (PV) systems.

Opis:: The article discusses the findings of the multilevel government school (MLG) which has been advancing since the beginning of the 21st century, studying regional elections. The concept defining regional elections as second-order elections has been recognized as critical, although it is reformulated by the MLG school to respond to changes in modern regional politics in Europe. Important recent political developments include the entrenchment of regional governments, the increase in the number of electoral appointments, expanded competencies of voters, the rise of non-state-wide parties and the empowerment of sub-national organizational levels of parties. Current MLG research focuses on identifying and explaining the cases where second-order election predictions do not appear to hold for regional elections, identifying states where it is still the case and, finally, identifying factors that increase or decrease this effect. An interesting theoretical development regarding regional elections as second-order elections is that this concept is supplemented and enriched by the theories of regional authority and territorial cleavages. The final part of the article reviews studies on regional elections and the applicability of the second-order concept to Central and Eastern European countries.
