Opis:: In this paper, we propose a multiscale finite-strain plate theory for a composite nonlinear plate described by a repetitive periodic heterogeneity. We consider two scales, the macroscopic scale is linked to the entire plate and the microscopic scale is linked to the size of the heterogeneity. At the macroscopic scale, we approximate the displacement field by the Reissner-Mindlin model. By considering the equivalence between variations of the macroscopic elastic energy at each point of the mid surface and the microscopic one, we deduce that the macroscopic stress resultants can be expressed in terms of the microscopic stress.

Opis:: The problem considered is under which conditions in weakly nonlinear regression model with constraints I a weakly nonlinear hypothesis can be tested by linear methods. The aim of the paper is to find a region around the approximate value of the regression parameter with the following property. If we are certain that the actual value of the regression parameter is in this region, then the linear method of testing can be used without any significant deterioration of the inference.

Opis:: The paper is devoted to the strength analysis of a simply supported three layer beam. The sandwich beam consists of: two metal facings, the metal foam core and two binding layers between the faces and the core. In consequence, the beam is a five layer beam. The main goal of the study is to elaborate a mathematical model of this beam, analytical description and a solution of the three-point bending problem. The beam is subjected to a transverse load. The nonlinear hypothesis of the deformation of the cross section of the beam is formulated. Based on the principle of the stationary potential energy the system of four equations of equilibrium is derived. Then deflections and stresses are determined. The influence of the binding layers is considered. The results of the solutions of the bending problem analysis are shown in the tables and figures. The analytical model is verified numerically using the finite element analysis, as well as experimentally.
Wielowarstwowe konstrukcje są badane od wielu lat i wytwarzane z różnych materiałów, w szczególności rdzeń z materiałów porowatych, komórkowych czy tworzyw sztucznych, w tym pianek metalowych. Szczególne znaczenie w budowie maszyn lub budownictwie mają te konstrukcje, które charakteryzują się dużą wytrzymałością przy stosunkowo niewielkiej masie. Takimi konstrukcjami są właśnie struktury warstwowe, których gęstość rdzenia jest znacznie mniejsza od gęstości okładzin. Z uwagi na ich charakterystyczne własności, takie jak odporność na obciążenia dynamiczne czy absorpcja akustyczna, są szeroko stosowane chociażby w budowie satelitów, statków kosmicznych, przemyśle lotniczym, samochodowym, kolejowym i stoczniowym. Konstrukcje warstwowe wytwarzane są również współcześnie, a ich modelowanie jest nadal aktualnym tematem badań, co jest zauważalne w licznych publikacjach. Przedmiotem pracy jest analiza wytrzymałości pięciowarstwowej belki, której warstwy zewnętrzne (okładziny) połączone są z rdzeniem wykonanym z pianki aluminiowej cienkimi warstwami. Właściwości mechaniczne i fizyczne są różne dla każdej z warstw.

Opis:: Foreign direct investment (FDI) is an important driver of countries' economic development. Factors such as looser environmental regulations may cause dirty FDI to flow mainly to developing countries. This is explained by the Pollution Haven Hypothesis. eTh paper aims to investigate whether the Pollution Haven Hypothesis is valid in Turkey using the nonlinear autoregressive distributed lag (NARDL) approach for the period 1974-2017. eTh results show that FDI inflows and carbon emissions have asymmetric eefcts in both the short and long term for Turkey, supporting the Pollution Haven Hypothesis. Furthermore, there is a link between carbon emissions and trade openness, manufacturing and economic growth. Policymakers should develop the policies necessary to transfer clean technologies to Turkey by providing improvements and technical advances for a more eficient energy use.

Opis:: Reliable data analysis is one of the hardest tasks in sciences and social sciences. Often misleading and sometimes puzzling results arise when the analysis is done without regard for the special features of the data. In this exposition, I will focus on designing new statistical tools to deal with some prominent questions in Finance and Economics. In particular, I will talk about the following. (1) How to characterize the randomness of variables, motivated by a problem in the pricing of financial options. (2) Uncovering the relation between interest rates on different maturities, now and in the future; the "term structure of interest rates". (3) Modelling the unconventional nonlinear long-memory dynamics that arise from a general-equilibrium economic model, and their implications for exchange rates, stock market indexes, and all macroeconomic variables; with recommendations for trading in financial markets, but also for the design of macroeconomic stabilization policies by governments.
