Opis:: W opracowaniu przyjmuję rozumienie gatunku jako modelu określonego typu tekstu. Rozpatruję więc gatunek jako wzorzec tekstu, na który składają się wszystkie jego płaszczyzny (formalna, poznawcza, pragmatyczna, aksjologiczna, stylistyczna). Interesuje mnie przede wszystkim płaszczyzna stylistyczna konkretnego zdarzenia komunikacyjnego, jakim jest tekst obowiązującej dziś ustawy zasadniczej, tj. Konstytucji RP (1997 r.).Konstytucja w wymiarze stylistycznym jest wielobarwna. Dominuje władczy suchy styl normatywny z wysoką frekwencją nakazów, obowiązków i uprawnień, ale, w przeciwieństwie do innych gatunków sfery urzędowo-prawnej, silnie obecne są też elementy wysokiego, kunsztownego stylu retorycznego realizowanego nie tylko w preambule, ale także w uroczystych aktach ślubowań prezydenta i posłów. Te swoiste teksty w tekście podkreślają doniosłość konstytucji jako najważniejszego dla wspólnoty państwowej aktu prawnego. Na styl gatunkowy konstytucji mają również wpływ przekonania ideologiczne podmiotu prawodawczego.
In this paper I take the meaning of genre as a model of a specified type of text. Therefore, I consider genre as a pattern of the text, which consists of all its planes (formal, cognitive, pragmatic, axiological, stylistic). I am especially interested in the stylistic plane of a concrete communicative event, which is the current text of the fundamental law, i.e. of the Constitution of the Republic of Poland (1997). The constitution in the stylistic dimension is multi-colour. A normative dry imperious style is dominant, with a high frequency of orders, duties and rights, but contrary to the other genres of official and legal spheres, there are also strongly present elements of high, elaborative rhetoric style exe-cuted not only in the preamble, but also in the solemn acts of president’s and MPs’ oaths. These particular texts in the text underline the significance of the constitution as the most important legal act for the state community. The ideo-logical convictions of the legislative body have also an influence on the genre style of the constitution.

Opis:: The article presents the results of a linguistic-stylistic analysis of selected three acts, posted on the official website of the Journal of the Polish Republic in November and December 2016. As pointed out by the author, in spite of the specific terminology and phraseology, legal language can not be considered as a separate code (which is, for example, the Polish ethnic language), because it has not developed its own grammar. Therefore, if the author speaks of the legal language, she means rather the legal style, understood as a variety of the special (functional) Polish general language, assessed from the perspective of the normative rules of a general language. The analysis has shown that the examined legislative texts contain primarily the syntax errors (57% of all errors), followed (in terms of the number of occurrences) by the errors regarding the other subsystems of language. In a total of 39 pages the author recorded 292 violations of the linguistic correctness. Despite revealing numerous imperfections of the studied writings, the results of the overall analysis proved them satisfactory. Negligible number of grammatical shortcomings, flawless spelling, small number of mistakes concerning the government and isolated cases of syntactic homonymy demonstrate good quality of the studied texts. However, the authors need to ensure greater accuracy in terms of formation, reduce the number of the troublesome participle clauses and multi-nominal constructions, use more suitable expression, and avoid the heavy style.

Tytuł:: Forming a personal sense of identity in the contemporary world : challenges and difficulties

Opis:: This article considers some normative cultural changes that have contributed to the identity "crises" faced at least by persons living in Western cultures. Identity is conceptualized as a self-structure that provides a frame of reference for processing self-relevant information, answering questions about the meaning and purpose of one’s life, and regulating the processes that individuals use to cope and adapt in everyday life. Individuals living in the modern world characterized by accelerating technological, social, and economic changes face major challenges and problems as they attempt to form and maintain a coherent sense of personal identity. Not all people, however, deal with these identity confl icts in the same fashion. Research reveals reliable differences in how individuals negotiate or manage to avoid the tasks of constructing, maintaining, and reconstructing a sense of identity in the modern world. Three identity processing orientations are highlighted: informational, normative, and diffuse-avoidant. Although an informational processing orientation is associated with resources and skills that maximize adaptability in the modern world, those resources do not provide a set of values or frame of reference for deciding what goals people should commit to or what they should live for. Some of values used to justify identity choices in the modern world are considered.
