Opis:
Introduction: The use of a validated scale, Spirituality and Spiritual Care Rating Scale (SSCRS) to measure nurses’ perceptions of spirituality and spiritual care. Aim: The purpose of this study was to analyse selected psychometric properties of the Polish version of the SSCRS, among them the applicability of the dimensions of spiritual care in nursing, ie, spirituality, spiritual care, religiosity and personalized care, to Polish conditions. Methods: Poland-wide multicentre study with a cross-sectional validation design. The study was conducted between March and June 2019. Seven Polish Nursing Faculties accepted the invitation to participate in the study. A representative sample of 853 nurses enrolled in MSc (postgraduate) programs in nursing participated. After translation and cultural adaption of the SSCRS, the instrument underwent a full psychometric evaluation of its construct validity using (exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis), internal consistency (Cronbach’s alpha and correlation analysis), reliability (test−retest analysis), known-group validity (Student’s t-test) analysis. Results: The exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis demonstrated that the Polish version of the SSCRS was a three-factor model with “Activity-centred spiritual care” (9 items), “Emotional support-centred spiritual care” (5 items) and “Religiosity” (3 items) domains. The Cronbach’s alpha coefficient for the whole scale was 0.902, and the alpha values for the individual domains were 0.898, 0.873 and 0.563, respectively. The three domains mentioned above seemed to provide a comprehensive understanding of spiritual care perceived subjectively by Polish MSc in nursing students. Conclusion: This study demonstrated a substantial degree of similarity in the selected psychometric characteristics of the Polish version of SSCRS and the original scale.

The purpose of this study was to investigate intercultural sensitivity among nursing students in Turkey. This study is a cross-sectional study. It was conducted with nursing students at a university in Ankara. The sample comprised 152 nursing students at the university. This study was carried out between May 2013 and June 2013. Data were collected using an Interview Questionnaire and Intercultural Sensitivity Scale. The data were analysed using frequency, independent t-test and one-way ANOVA. The study found out that the nursing students had higher scores of cultural sensitivity (88.92 ± 12.20). It was found that senior year students, the students who speak a foreign language and the students who had chosen the school willingly had higher scores of cultural sensibility (p < 0.05). The study found that the nursing students had higher scores of cultural sensivility. To increase intercultural sensitivity of nursing students it is recommended that the maintenance strategies and the concept of intercultural sensitivity should be integrated in the curriculum of nursing education and postgraduate training programs.

The first article advocating transformational leadership as a choice strategy for nursing, published in 1988. Later, it was stressed that modern health care requires new visions and enhanced models of nursing practice and the catalyst for that is transformative leadership and gradually, it was argued that successful leaders are the transformational leaders. In the 21th century it was obvious that transformational leadership was important for nursing from the growing number of published articles on the topic. Transformational leadership is affecting positively the nurses’ job satisfaction and contributes on reducing exhaustion, anxiety of nurses. Conclusions: The positive impact of transformational leaders on work performance and nurses satisfaction is evident, nevertheless much more effort has to be paid by nursing managers for increasing its use in the nursing departments of the hospitals.

The importance of psychology in nursing continues to grow. Currently, a large part attributed to the nurse-patient relationships and proper communication skills, which can significantly affect the healing process. one of the indicators of psychological topics of inetrest in nursing may be the content of nursing journals. In my work has analyzed the thematic content of selected nursing journals published in 2005-2009. The results of the analysis indicate that the topic of psychospcial occupies about 20% of the content of these journals.

Opis:
Introduction: In teaching nursing, new technologies are used as tools to support patient care and for the standardization of the nursing language, and as part of distance learning. At the Faculty of Health Sciences of the Jagiellonian University Medical College in Cracow, an attempt was made to implement electronic nursing medical documentation, based on the International Classification for Nursing Practice (ICNP®) dictionary, for teaching as part of the Fundamentals of Nursing subject, implemented during the first year of studies in the field of Nursing. Aim of the study: To evaluate the electronic documentation of the nursing process using the ICNP® dictionary, and to show the importance of the electronic patient record in documenting nursing practice and teaching. Material and methods: 158 students of the first year of undergraduate studies in Nursing took part in the study. The study used an original questionnaire. Results: The study proved that the technology used supports students in collecting data about patients, and to a lesser extent it facilitates the diagnosis of nurses and the development of care plans, as well as documenting their implementation, and ongoing and final evaluation. The difficulties can be explained by the lack of experience in patient care and only basic knowledge acquired during the first year of studies. Conclusions: Students noticed the advantages and validity of keeping electronic documentation of the nursing process based on ICNP®, but its performance should be improved. Moreover, the students also pointed out some shortcomings of electronic patient records.

Opis:
Objectives: The main objective of this article was to review the literature about the specific nursing care to adult patients with ECMO, identifying the existence of standardized care plans that optimize the quality of the care and favor the continuity of the care. Methods: A search was carried out in the following databases: CINAHL, CUIDEN PLUS, EMBASE, LILACS, MEDLINE, PUBMED. All reference lists were imported to a bibliographic manager (RefWorks), a tool used to eliminate duplicate documents. The inclusion criteria were: (1) original scientific article, (2) full text published in Spanish or English. The exclusion criteria were: (1) articles published in other languages, (2) articles in which the interventions performed on patients did not involve nursing participation. Findings: A review of 11 articles was carried out, analyzing the role of nurses and the care of patients with ECMO. It is important to highlight the importance of prior technical training and the thorough evaluation of all physiological systems and the ECMO circuit, without forgetting family support. Conclusions: The nurse must provide direct care to the patient with ECMO and to the circuit, carefully review all physiological systems and pay attention to the family members’ care. Therefore, the nurse acquires a primary role in the coordination of care and in the monitoring of the patient with ECMO.

Opis:
In the study, clinical decision making perceptions of students who had clinical practice experience were evaluated. The sample was 210 nursing students. Data were collected through the Clinical Decision Making in Nursing Scale. There were significant differences between total scale score and three subscale scores of nursing students. According to one-year follow-up results, it was found that pre-graduation clinical decision making perception scores of students were low. For all of the classes, there is a need to implement different education methods which will elevate students’ perceptions of making clinical decisions in accordance with their developmental properties and to evaluate their results.
