The study presents an analysis of Polish students’ written commentaries on their oral interactions with their Chinese project partners. Students from two universities, in Poland and in China, communicated online, mainly in English, for a period of 10 weeks. In their weekly reports they commented on what they learnt and on the communication acts themselves. The analysis of their reports and the final evaluation provides insights into their perception of linguistic and intercultural exchanges. The corpora built from the students’ commentaries made it possible to observe their awareness of discourse phenomena such as knowledge management. Other analysed qualities of student discourse such as coherence, novum versus datum, mode, tenor, level of formality of the language used, demonstrate the ways in which the students constructed meaning in the discourse and to what extent it influenced their understanding of the world. Through the participation in the course task aimed at developing intercultural, pedagogical, linguistic and technical competences, the Polish students had an opportunity to either verify or confirm their perception of China and the Chinese.

Opis:: The reception of Benedict Anderson’s ideas was very fruitful in many disciplines, and his work provided key concepts that can now throw a clarifying light in some blurry matters. The expression “imagined community” has known a remarkable proliferation, a situation that led to both the formation of a research direction and to the perpetuation of a cliché. In this respect, my article pointed out some suggestive characteristics of virtual communities, explaining why the imagined community is a valuable subject for the theorists of new media. The impossibility to know in person all the members of a big community is just one factor that determines its imagined face. Moreover, the set of values and inner presuppositions that guide the members are important bricks in the construction of community. In my opinion, the virtual community is imagined as a multi-layered experience (technological, conversational, relational etc.). The dynamic of a virtual community contains the tension amongst these layers and the degree of its imagined side depends on multiple factors. In order to illustrate these aspects, I gave a brief example by analysing a Romanian virtual community, using the triad common language – temporality – high centers. In spite of its limitations, the perspectives offered by this concept are still useful for understanding the nature of online communities. Thus, the imagined community is a valuable set of beliefs and practices that underlie and bolster the effective meaning and functioning of the virtual communities.

Opis:: Celem artykułu jest analiza językowa hejtu internetowego występującego w kontekście kryzysu społeczno-gospodarczego wywołanego pandemią koronawirusa SARS-CoV-2. Materiał stanowią komentarze internetowe umieszczane pod artykułami dotyczącymi pandemii. Spośród grupy kilkuset przykładów wybrano i poddano analizie te, których treść odnosiła się do polityków. Podczas doboru materiału językowego zastosowano kryterium treści, formy, kryterium językowe oraz kryterium oceny ogólnej. Za podstawę działań internetowych nienawistników przyjęto chęć wyładowania agresji oraz dychotomiczne pojmowanie rzeczywistości. Badania pokazały, że dla hejterów charakterystyczne jest spiskowe widzenie świata. Ich komentarze przepełnione są potocyzmami i wulgaryzmami, a wypowiedzi często przyjmują formę obelg, zarzutów, gróźb i aktów deprecjonujących. Charakterystycznym elementem języka hejterów jest stosowanie różnorodnych neologizmów, które najczęściej są nacechowane ujemnie.
The aim of the article is the linguistic analysis of the online hate that occurs within the context of the socioeconomic crisis caused by the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 pandemic. The research material consists of the online comments posted below the articles on the pandemic. From among several hundreds of instances, those whose content referred to the politicians were selected and analyzed. The selection was made according to the criteria of content, form, language, and general evaluation. As a basis of the online haters actions the author adopted the desire to discharge aggression and the dichotomous understanding of reality. The results of the research demonstrated that conspiratorial view of the world is characteristic of the haters. Their comments are full of colloquialisms and vulgarisms, and their utterances often adopt a form of insults, accusations, threats, and deprecating acts. Furthermore, the haters’ language is characterized with the use of a variety of neologisms, which mostly are negatively biased.

Cel pracy stanowiło rozwinięcie pojęcia komunikacji marketingowej, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem tej prowadzonej w przestrzeni online oraz uzupełnienie aspektu teoretycznego pracy o element empirii, na przykładzie cyfrowej komunikacji marketingowej firmy InPost.Wszystko to ujęto w ramy trzech rozdziałów, na przestrzeni których posłużono się metodą analizy i krytyki piśmiennictwa (rozdziały 1.,2.) oraz studium przypadku (rozdział 3.), posiłkując się autorskim wyborem literatury przedmiotu i źródłami elektronicznymi. W niniejszej pracy postawiono następujące pytania badawcze:1. Z jakich narzędzi komunikacji online korzysta firma InPost?2. Które narzędzia komunikacji stosowane przez firmę InPost mają charakter kluczowy?3. Jaki charakter ma cyfrowa komunikacja marketingowa firmy InPost ?4. W jaki sposób firma adresuje w prowadzonej komunikacji kwestie związane z CSR?5. Jakie treści publikowane przez firmę InPost generują największe zaangażowanie obiorców?Uzyskane wyniki pozwoliły na sformułowanie wniosków, iż komunikacja marketingowa marki prowadzona jest w realizacji strategii omnichannel, ma charakter promocyjny, bezpośredni, niekiedy informujący, humorystyczny i pozytywnie angażujący, wdrażający w pewnym zakresie elementy real-time marketingu i CSR-u. Kluczowymi kanałami komunikacji marki okazały się Facebook, TikTok oraz strona WWW, podczas gdy największe zaangażowanie wzbudzały publikowane przez nią treści, zawierające elementy real-time marketingu, żartu, gry lub zabawy, CSR-u, ciekawostki, promocji sprzedaży oraz animacji.Dane te stały się asumptem do sformułowania wytycznych w zakresie pożądanych i niepożądanych, z punktu widzenia ich efektywności, praktyk komunikacyjnych w Internecie.
The subject of the work is marketing communication on the Internet, illustrated by an example of that conducted by InPost. The purpose of the work was to develop the concept of marketing communication, with particular emphasis on that conducted in the online space, and to supplement the theoretical aspect of the work with an element of empiricism, based on the example of digital marketing communication of InPost.All this has been framed in three chapters, in which the method of analysis and criticism of the literature (chapters 1, 2) and a case study (chapter 3) were implemented, using the author's selection of literature on the subject and electronic sources. In this paper, the following research questions were asked:1. What online communication tools does InPost use?2. Which communication tools used by InPost are of key nature?3. What is the character of InPost's digital marketing communication?4. How does the company address CSR-related issues in its communication?5. What content published by InPost generate the greatest audience engagement?The obtained results allowed for the formulation of conclusions that the brand's marketing communication is carried out in the implementation of the omnichannel strategy; is of promotional, direct, sometimes informative, humorous and positively engaging character, using to some extent elements of real-time marketing and CSR. The key communication channels of the brand turned out to be Facebook, TikTok and the website, while the content published by it, containing elements of real-time marketing, jokes, games or fun, CSR, curiosities, sales promotion and animations, was the most engaging. These data prompted the formulation of guidelines, regarding the recommended and not recommended, from the point of view of their effectiveness, communication practices on the Internet.

Opis:: The main purpose of this study/paper is to get to know the attitudes, satisfaction, and academic performance of undergraduate students who participate in Blended Learning courses as well as their use of online communication tools. A quantitative and qualitative methodology of the collection and analysis of data (questionnaires, discussion groups and analysis of online communication) was used to understand how this new training method was developed in 334 undergraduate students. Students showed a positive attitude toward the internet and the method was presented as satisfactory for students and it appeared to increase academic performance. Results showed that the uses made by students in discussion forums were fundamentally focused on social and informal aspects.

Opis:: The aim of the article is to explore the attitudes of young people towards the use of company blogs as a communication tool between the company and clients and source of information about products and/or the company. In the first part of the article, based on the analysis of secondary sources, the history of the development of modern blogs is presented. This part also discusses the classification of blogs and the potential of the blogosphere as a virtual community as well as the numerous benefits resulting from running a corporate blog. The second part of the study presents the results of the primary research carried out among a representative sample of young people (aged 15-24), whose aim was to recognize their attitudes towards the use of corporate blogs in marketing communication.
Celem artykułu jest eksploracja przekonań i postaw młodych osób wobec wykorzystania blogów firmowych jako narzędzia komunikacji pomiędzy przedsiębiorstwem a klientami oraz źródła informacji o produktach i/lub firmie. W pierwszej części artykułu w oparciu o analizę źródeł wtórnych zaprezentowano historię powstania współczesnych blogów, omówiono ich klasyfikację, wskazano na potencjał blogosfery jako wirtualnej społeczności, a także omówiono liczne korzyści wynikające z prowadzenie bloga korporacyjnego. W drugiej części opracowania zaprezentowano wyniki badań pierwotnych, przeprowadzonych wśród przedstawicieli młodych osób (w wieku 15-24 lat), których celem było poznanie ich postaw względem wykorzystanie blogów korporacyjnych w komunikacji marketingowej.

Opis:: The paper discusses verbal aggressiveness and (im)politeness in media and online communication. The analysis focuses on transcriptions of communicative acts by participants of the TV reality Spread! ("Prostřeno!", a Czech version of the programme Come Dine with me) and viewers' comments in related online discussions. The analysis indicated that the use of face-threatening acts was determined by a type of communicative interaction and interlocutors' social roles. Striving to construct a positive self-image, the participants in the show did not take the risk of losing their face due to usage of derogatory or vulgar expressions in face-to-face inter- actions. The anonymous online discussions, on the contrary, did not pose any risk for the positive faces of the speakers; therefore, the interlocutors showed clear tendency to either appreciate and support, or attack the contestants as well as other speakers.

Opis:: The aim of this study was to describe how the gazeta.pl website newsroom conducted the media narrative regarding restrictions on social, professional and private life based on articles about the COVID-19 epidemic published on the website. The study covered the period from the 14th of January 2020 (publication of the first thematic text related to the epidemic) to the 20th of May 2020 (date of lifting of the requirement to wear face masks in outdoor settings). The research material comprised 16,414 news stories published on the gazeta.pl website in which the word coronavirus was used. The texts were classified into 12 thematic groups. Firstly, the research results indicate that the subject of the pandemic follows the principles of the life cycle of a news topic. In addition, a more detailed, five-phase version of the news topic life cycle concept was proposed. Secondly, no positive correlation was identified between the number of new stories on COVID-19 and the number of confirmed cases of the disease. Lastly, the correlation between the number and frequency of news stories on specific topics connected with COVID-19 was limited.

Opis:: The paper aims to present the potential, for foreign language students, of the exolingual interactions online in public and open forums. For the analysis of students’ commentaries, I apply the observation categories that were first elaborated for the analysis of posts published in press sites. I focus on narrative commentaries in which web users organize phenomena and events discussed in public discourse and try to give them their individual interpretation. I consider this kind of interaction on press sites as contributing to the civic debates: I argue that they can be also integrated in observation categories used to describe and analyze exchanges between students discussing social issues in reference to foreign language media information. In the paper I present two kinds of commentaries: those written by native speakers in public forums and those written by FL students in response to public commentaries.
