Opis:
The aim of the report „Transformative Agreements: Overview, Case Studies, and Legal Analysis” is to present the current situation regarding ‘transformative agreements’ understood as a means of transitioning from a subscription-based model of scientific publishing to full and immediate open access. In chapter one, the authors present transformative agreements in the context of Plan S; in chapter two, they outline the current state of negotiations and agreements between scientific institutions and publishers in various countries; in chapter three, they provide legal analysis of the agreements from the ESAC Transformative Agreement Registry. Chapter four consists of three case studies (Germany, Norway, Sweden); finally, chapter five is devoted to recommendations.

Opis:
Both agriculture as an research area and its closely re-lated life sciences have developed rapidly over recent decades. The amount of knowledge that comes from day to day is vast and we are in the “Agriculture 4.0” era not by accident. Research-ers representing agricultural science and research audiences often face choice - is open knowledge sources and data are appropriate source for their research or not. The discussion on the scope of open science resources is becoming intense, even though these initiatives are not new. The European Commission’s position is clear – the results of EU-funded research should be as widely disseminated as possible. This will allow to have a broader dis-cussion and develop new knowledge from existing data. It also applies to data relating to agricultural science. The study provides an overview of the current literature and relevant data sources available on the open science web for agricultural science. The article also describes harmful practices related to open access

Opis:
Objective: to investigate the accessibility of open access article on anatomical variations described on cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) using PubMed database. We wanted to investigate how many journals are sharing articles without pay-wall and how many are sharing articles without author publication charges. Material and methods: a search equation was designed with exclusion criteria limiting the search in PubMed to articles published in English and French. The search was performed by one observer. We had found 2228 articles; among them 709 were accessible as ‘full text’. After applying exclusion criteria and after full text reading only 50 articles remained for the review. Results: the 50 selected articles shared 306 annotated (visual marking, explanation like arrows) and 432 not annotated figures with the public. The 76% of articles were single studies on one specific topic. The main topic was endodontics with 22 articles. 28 journals from all continents participated in the effort of sharing of figures on anatomical variations from CBCT. However, only 2 journals were completely free of charges for authors and readers. Conclusions: we have found only 15 annotated and 3 not annotated figures in 2 articles published in 2 different open access journals (without reader pay-wall and without author publication charges). Sharing the knowledge on anatomical variations from dentomaxillofacial CBCT represents an exception in dental literature.

Opis:
The main aim of this paper is to indicate and analyse the primary conditions needed to implement the concept of open strategizing into the practice of an organization, as well as to make it successful. The structure of the paper comprises two main parts: a brief introduction to the most important issues of open strategy is followed by the results of own research. Two major approaches towards the notion of open strategy are delineated: the first is more oriented towards strategy content and based on the idea of comprising collaborative initiatives into a firm’s strategic plans, and the second refers to strategic management process, based on including external and internal actors (stakeholders) into strategizing processes. Within own research based on literature review and the re-reading of case materials, four categories of preconditions of open strategizing are revealed. These categories, described and illustrated by examples, comprise: level and quality of social IT implementation, open culture and leadership, capabilities and competences, as well as the perceived expected benefits from inclusion and transparency.

Opis:
The concepts of open innovation and prosumption have been known for many years before the beginning of Web 2.0 and Web 3.0 era. Nowadays the Web technology evolution provides a fertile ground for cooperation and knowledge transfer between heterogeneous groups of consumers, producers and scientists from all over the world. The today platforms of open innovation gather hundreds of thousands of users. Therefore understanding and managing the breadth, depth and complexity of information resources they create becomes a challenge. The paper introduces the possibilities of exploiting the semantic technology in the portals of open innovations to better manage the large amount of content and the users interactions. The semantic solutions support the information retrieval functions, finding the potentially best problem solvers among community users and targeting the information transfer according to user’s preferences and activities.

Opis:
This article covers the problems connected with creating open social innovations Rusing crowdsourcing. In this work the importance of crowdsourcing in the context of creating open social innovations, which serve the realisation and solving of social needs, was presented. This elaboration is divided into three parts. Following a short introduction, the essence of open social innovations, including the notion of innovation and social innovations, was presented. In the second part, the essence of crowdsourcing and its potential, were presented. The subject of the final, third part is showing the possibilities of using crowdsourcing to create open social innovations. Theoretical considerations were supported by three examples. Three examples from Poland were purposefully chosen. It is worth underlining that the obtained results confirm the demands made in the subject literature connected with the importance of crowdsourcing in creating open social innovations since this phenomenon contributes to obtain and generate new ideas and ways of solving problems including social ones.

Opis:
The aim of this paper is to discuss specific form of decision-making process – Landsgemeinde (i.e. open assembly) which is one of the oldest and the simplest forms of direct democracy practiced in two German-speaking cantons: Glarus and Appenzell Innerrhoden. This assembly democracy survived in Switzerland for more than 600 years and became part of Swiss identity. The article explores both advantages as well as defects of open-air democracy.
