Opis:: The subject of this article are patronymic surnames of the Poznań Jews used during the period from the 16th to the 18th century. According to the author of the article nonderivative patronymic names, formed according to the model given name + one’s father’s given name, were dominant in the given period. They were based on the German anthroponomastic system. This model was definitely imposed on the Jews in the whole area of the Prussian Partition under a Decree issued in 1797 by king Frederick William II. Under the Decree the Jews were made tax liable and were obliged to have hereditary surnames. The author of the article proves that until the end of the 18th century patronimic personal names were based directly on the given name of one’s father (in every generation), so they were not family surnames. The author also describes other types of patronymic personal names of Jews well-documented in historical sources of Poznań.

Opis:: This article analyses the specific nature of nominations of women in official documents of the Bratslav Voivodship in the period 1566–1606. The authors attach a particular attention to extralinguistic factors that are required for the correct interpretation of using various means of anthroponymic identification of women in the analysed texts. A comparison to the results of the Ukrainian, Polish, and Belarusian onomastics provides grounds for the ascertainment of the popularity of the female name Anna and the popularisation of the name Maria in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth under the Ukrainian influence. Like in the neighbouring Polish lands, is the bi-lexical (through the first name and surname) method of anthroponymic identification of women prevalent in the Bratslav region’s documents.

Opis:: The paper analyzes patronymic surnames with suffix -uk in tombstone inscriptions on selected cemetery on southern Podlasie region. The studied inscriptions are dated as covering two centuries: from the 20th to the 21st centuries (the limitary dates being: 1905 and 2011). In the tombstone inscriptions from cemetery in Bereść, Hanna, Holeszów, Kodeniec and Wyryki 372 attestations of patronymic surnames with suffix -uk were collected, written in Polish (Roman script) and in Ukrainian (in different varieties of the Cyrillic script).
W artykule analizie poddano nazwiska patronimiczne z formantem -uk w inskrypcjachnagrobnych na wybranych cmentarzach z terenu południowego Podlasia. Badane inskrypcjepochodzą z dwóch stuleci (XX i XXI wieku) i datowane są na lata 1905–2011. Z inskrypcjinagrobnych pochodzących z cmentarzy w Bereściu, Hannie, Holeszowie, Kodeńcu i Wyrykachwydobyto 372 poświadczenia nazwisk patronimicznych z formantem -uk, zapisanych w językupolskim (alfabetem łacińskim) oraz ukraińskim (w różnych rodzajach cyrylicy).
W artykule analizie poddano nazwiska patronimiczne z formantem -uk w inskrypcjach nagrobnych na wybranych cmentarzach z terenu południowego Podlasia. Opis:: The article refers to anthroponyms of patronymic type found in birth records of St. Adalbert Parish in Poznań dating from the 17th and the 18th centuries. The author analyses grounds on which this category of onyms was created and discusses the repartition of suffixes -ic(z) and -owic(z)/-ewic(z). Attention is also drawn to the transition of anthroponyms with the suffixes in question from the patronymic to the structural surnames category, which was probably associated with the ennoblement of surnames that was observed in that period not only in Poznań alone.

Opis:: У статті проаналізовано зміни, що відбулися у способах офіційного найменування осіб в українській літературній мові ХХІ ст. З’ясовано та обґрунтовано причини цих змін, оцінено їх із погляду практичної доцільности. Зокрема, до чинників, що зумовили зрушення в багатовіковій тенденції офіційного найменування українців, уналежнено суспільно-політичні процеси, що розпочалися в Україні від 1991 р., прагнення мовців дистанціюватися від усього спільного з російським, практичну незручність послуговуватися трикомпонентними структурами через їхню громіздкість тощо. Зроблено спробу спрогнозувати подальший розвиток тенденції вживання патронімів у сучасній мовній практиці. Висловлено припущення, що надалі у зв’язку зі вступом України до Євросоюзу аналізована тенденція ще більше впотужнюватиметься, унаслідок чого патроніми набудуть статусу внутрішньомовних антропонімів, функціюючи в обмеженому комунікативному просторі. Матеріалом дослідження послугували дво- та трикомпонентні антропонімні моделі офіційних найменувань осіб, які було дібрано за період 2000–2022 рр. із двох функційних стилів української мови – публіцистичного та наукового. За допомогою загальнонаукових (індукція, дедукція, спостереження, аналіз, синтез, порівняння, систематизація) та власне-лінгвістичних методів, основними серед яких є описовий, зіставний та прагматичний, комплексно схарактеризовано типові вияви тенденцій у використанні патронімів в українській літературній мові ХХІ ст.
The article analyzes the changes that have occurred in the ways of the official naming of persons in Ukrainian literary language of the 21st century. The reasons for these changes have been established and substantiated, as well as evaluated from the point of view of practical expediency. In particular, the factors that led to the shift of the official naming of Ukrainians include the socio-political processes that began in Ukraine in 1991, the desire of speakers to distance themselves from anything in common with Russia, the practical inconvenience of using three-component structures due to their cumbersomeness etc. An attempt has been made to predict the further development of the trend of the use of patronyms in the modern language. It has been suggested that in the future, in connection with Ukraine’s accession to the European Union, the analysed trend will become even more powerful, as a result of which patronyms will acquire the status of intralingual anthroponyms, functioning in a limited communicative space. The material of the study were two- and three-component anthroponymous models of the formal names of persons selected during the period 2015–2022 from two functional styles of Ukrainian language — journalistic and scientific. With the help of general scientific methods (induction, deduction, observation, analysis, synthesis, comparison, systematization) and linguistic methods (descriptive, comparative, pragmatic), the typical manifestations of trends in the use of patronyms in the Ukrainian literary language of the 21st century are comprehensively characterized.

Opis:: У статті схарактеризовано актуалізацію різних форм кличного відмінка іменників у комунікативному просторі Українського суспільного радіо, що спричинено зміною формату його мовлення – переходом до безпосереднього (розмовного) спілкування у прямому етері авторів та ведучих програм із політиками, фахівцями різних галузей знань, незалежними експертами, простими громадянами. Констатовано широке використання етикетних слів пане, пані з власними назвами (особовими іменами або прізвищами) та загальними – назвами осіб за посадою, військовим чи вченим званням, іншими ознаками. Виокремлено труднощі і типові помилки у вживанні форм кличного відмінка деяких чоловічих та жіночих особових імен або двох власних назв – особового імені та по батькові. Відзначено нову тенденцію до послідовного розмежування форм кличного відмінка загальних іменників залежно від статі людини. Зроблено висновок про повернення в комунікативний простір Українського суспільного радіо морфологічної норми, що становить граматичну специфіку української мови.
This article focuses on the study of various forms of the vocative case of nouns in the communicative space of Ukrainian public radio. The variety of forms of address is interpreted as a result of expansion of unofficial communication of authors and presenters with politicians, experts, independent experts, ordinary citizens. The paper proves the extensive use of etiquette words пане, пані with proper names (personal names or surnames) and common nouns – names of persons by position, military or academic rank, other characteristics. The author analyses difficulties and typical errors in the use of forms of the vocative case of some male and female personal names or two proper names – personal name and patronymic. The obtained results indicate the new tendency to consistently distinguish the forms of the vocative case of common nouns depending on the sex of the person. The author concludes that the morphological norm, which is the grammatical specificity of the Ukrainian language, returns to the communicative space of the Ukrainian public radio.
