Opis:: The world scout movement, including the Polish scout movement refers to a lesser or even to an orthodox extent to the pedagogical ideas and assumptions of Scouting by Robert Stephenson Baden-Powell and the successors of his pedagogics. In the article I respond to the question, to what extent does contemporary pedagogical thought refer to the phenomenon of scout movement education? Can we speak of the pedagogy of scouting or rather of scouting pedagogics? These issues cannot be solved solely on the level of normative models if one would not reach to former studies without indicating the necessity of conducting a scientific turn in this regard.

Opis:: The article is an attempt to answer the question how single women bringing up children consider their free time. The research and the analysis of the results have been based on the methodology of grounded theory referred to the nature and assumptions of symbolic interactionism theory and they are a part of the project (Non)independent motherhood. Between reliance on social assistance and becoming independent. The research was conducted in the group of 17 mothers. It involved partially structured qualitative interview. The results prove the significant diversification of perceiving free time by mothers. Based on the conducted interviews, the following categories were identified: intentional free time, “unconscious” free time – time “passing by”, free time is the time of my children, “non-existing” free time.

Opis:: Artykuł stanowi wprowadzenie do lektury dwóch nietłumaczonych do tej pory na język polski pomniejszych rozpraw Johanna F. Herbarta. Ich osnową jest kategoria codzienności rozumianej jako transcendentny punkt odniesienia dla refleksji (teorii) pedagogicznej zarówno naukowej, jak i nienaukowej. Artykuł składa się z trzech części. W pierwszej naświetlono tło historyczne powstania obu tekstów. W drugiej zrekonstruowano przedstawioną w jednym z nich koncepcję podmiotu. Po czym, w trzeciej części, odczytano współczesną kategorię codzienności w świetle Herbartowskiej idei nauczania wychowującego.
The article is an introduction to the reading of two minor Johann F. Herbart’s texts, which have not been yet translated into Polish. They are focused on a category of everyday life understood as a transcendent point of reference for pedagogical reflection (theory) both scientific and non-scientific. The article is divided into three parts. In the first one the historical background of these two texts in analyzed. In the second one the conception of the subject, presented in one of them, is reconstructed. In the third one contemporary category of everyday life is described in the light of Herbart’s idea of upbringing education.

Opis:: The development of quantum physics and formulation of complementarity and uncertainty principles gave rise to numerous interpretational problems. For the first time microworld laws were formulated in probabilistic rather than deterministic language. In the philosophy of nature there was a need for revision of views on realism, determinism, reductionism and the role of the observer in the conduct of research. However the question whether the perceived boundaries of knowledge are the result of the nature essence or of actual cognitive abilities remains open. In the social sciences, after years of dispute about the research methodology, the need for a complementary use of quantitative and qualitative approaches has been accepted. Qualitative researchers, however, continue to criticize legitimacy of quantitative research. At the same time the assumptions of qualitative approach build on neo-positivist interpretation already outdated in the light of naturalists new discoveries. The article aims to demonstrate that the changes that have taken place in the theory of knowledge as a result of naturalists discoveries lead to convergence between the two research approaches. Taking into account these changes will end the polemic with assumptions already outdated in the natural sciences.

Opis:: The aim of this text is to show the situation of one of pedagogy institutes of a public university in Poland against the background of these general tendencies. In a further part, we are going to refer to the most crucial results of quantitive research, whose goal was to establish which group of women – holding academic and teaching posts in the above-mentioned institute, forms (negotiates) their own professional role and whether the gender perspective is present therein. University field, including pedagogic field has always been hierarchised and hierarchising and the integral aspect of its structure is the factor of gender. Our research shows how urgent it is to disarm the illusion of sex neutrality in science in order to make particular roles more inclusive in relation to the manifestation of gender differentiation. Current attempts of disassembling the bases of these hierarchisations, which, at the first sight, seem to be “liberating” for certain groups, require even more thorough monitoring of academic careers as regards the gender aspect.
